STUHILL Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Maynard wants to stay, end of. If true, can't see why. Think you guys will struggle to stay up to be fair. End of.
anotherharboroughfox Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 I find it strange that people don't want Yakubu for 2 million but do want Maynard for 4/5. Weirdos. If that is aimed at me. Which it seems to be. I'm all for getting Yakubu, but that seems to have fizzled out. Whereas this is still potentially on.
accessory Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Thought it was 3.25million?? Officially it's an "undisclosed fee" which may explain a lot, but media in Brighton were saying it was £2.5m.
john doe Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Jeffery Schlupp - now is your time boyo. german not welsh
escos Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Sorry I know Maynard is a good player, but I've just been looking at his stats and really can not understand where this "best striker in the championship" comes from!
nickelbyfox Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Feel Maynard is trying to pull a Beckford could easily demand much higher wages when he walks out next year. Even if he comes to us will be playing championship this season
ScouseFox Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 If that is aimed at me. Which it seems to be. I'm all for getting Yakubu, but that seems to have fizzled out. Whereas this is still potentially on. Wasn't "aimed" at anyone, just sayin'. Just half this forum is all "how can we possibly pay Yakubu so much per week!!!!" when if you worked it out with 2 million plus his wages over a year, combined with let's say 6 million plus Maynard's wages over a year, Yakubu's overall deal would be considerably cheaper. And Yakubu is no worse than Maynard. Edited to say: If we did save £4,000,000 on the fee, we could pay Yakubu about £80,000 a week more than Maynard and he'd still be cheaper over a full year. I think. So yeah, sign Yakubu.
John Matrix Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 yeah but we can't pay yakubu that because it ****s the system up. you can't have that wage disparity in the team.

One Arm Babba Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 I still think £5,000,000 Is feasible.... Like this: Maximum £3,500,000 up front. £1,000,000 if we get promoted . £500,000 when he has scored 30 goals for us.

Aye. But we're supposedly willing to offer Matt Mills £30k+ and I doubt Maynard would come here and accept a normal wage, especially if we show how much we want him and how much money we have with that ridiculous transfer fee. And his agent wants all the money he can get by what's been posted in here. Whoever we sign, it won't be cheap. But Yakubu would be cheaper. And, in my opinion, better.
cidercity Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Brizzle fan in peace. I spoke to Nicky the other day, im afraid the only way he is leaving us is for the prem. He does not want to go to another championship side, not worth the upheaval. Also i dont think you realise our owner is a bristolian billionaire who is also a life long fan of the club, who has said "he will not sell to another championship team even if Nicky does not sign"

Any player is for sale at the right price!

Money talks with any footballer/football club. If Sven thinks he is worth it, he will pursue it. I think you have a good player and are quite right to try and keep him. But football contracts/transfers change over night. Just the other day one of our fans went to get autographs from our players and he quizzed Lloyd Dyer about a potential move to Sheffield Wed. Lloyd said it was nonsense and nothing in it. Yet 2 or 3 days later he is apparently set to sign for the Owls. I have a sneaking suspicion we will come back with a new offer...

cidercity Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Whats the point of having a rich owner who is scared to spend? Any player is for sale at the right price! Shorely if he is willing to let nicky's contract run down that is spending.

Players tell people what they want to hear all the time and then do a U-turn with no remorse. Sad but true. Also, if Bristol CIty have a Billionaire owner then why isn't he spending it? No good having mega rich chairmen if he doesn't actually invest in the team to push for promotion. I think one more "take it or leave it" offer will be submitted soon and hopefully can move on to other targets if rejected. Getting bored of seeing this guys name and having Bristol City fans on here saying no chance

Most clubs don't spend as much as you guys have been recently you know.
Maybes Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Bristolian Billionaire made me chuckle. Guess thats different to a billionaire.
