McFoxy Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 To be fair to Bristol, they want to keep their prize asset. I wish we showed as much spine when people came knocking instead of letting some pretty good players walk for peanuts. How much did Gradel go for?
80footgiraffe Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Fook off! OVER £5million? I know it's not my money, but they can bugger right off.
MC Prussian Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 They want over £5m. This whole story is getting to the brink of complete ridiculousness. £5m pays you two, three, if not four more-than-just-decent Championship players.
Father Ted Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 They want over £5m. And Yak would only be £2m Can't wait until next summer when we're sitting near the top of the league, Bristol City finish mid-table again and Maynard goes on a free... GET THE YAK!!!!

How much did Gradel go for? bit of a contrast their best player versus a guy who wasn't even wanted y management and wasn't proven in the champ
FoxyPalace.com Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 3.5M and a years supply of Ginsters and scrumpy!
anotherharboroughfox Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 I find it strange how people were fine to spend £3mil on a league 1 striker albeit a good one... yet add on £2mil, for one of the best strikers in the championship IMO, it's ridiculous? Yes he only has one year left on his contract, yet we want promotion this year and if we were willing to spend £3mil plus wages on CMS, whack on an extra £2mil for Maynard and we're sorted.

Generally they weren't.
irDeano Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 3.5M and a years supply of Ginsters and scrumpy! Maybe throw in a Wurzels CD

They want, OVER £5 million, so we're probably talking £6 million plus. I'd rather have the Yak, even if he is on pretty big wages.
ScouseFox Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 I find it strange that people don't want Yakubu for 2 million but do want Maynard for 4/5. Weirdos.
Redski Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 If CMS is worth £3m then Maynard is easily worth £5m but in all honesty I think even if you offered £5m we'd knock you back.
McFoxy Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 bit of a contrast their best player versus a guy who wasn't even wanted y management and wasn't proven in the champ OK so he wasnt our top player, but i think most fans would agree he had potential way beyond what we let him go for. Just pop over to the Leeds forums. They're shitting themselves in case he leaves. I for one think he walked for peanuts, and wanted more for him. Its not just him either. Plenty have walked away for next to nothing when we could have capitalized a little on them. My opinion, but personally i cant blame Bristol for wanting to keep him. I would however love it if he came
Marmite Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 If CMS is worth £3m then Maynard is easily worth £5m but in all honesty I think even if you offered £5m we'd knock you back. 5 million quid is a lot of money for a championship player, i can see them accepting that for sure

What they want and what they actually get may be quite different. It's all down to Maynard really. If he wants to sign for us, then Bristol will most likely have to lower their asking price or be stuck with an unhappy player. 4.5million with add ons if we reach the Prem is the maximum I would be willing to pay really.
accessory Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 If CMS is worth £3m then Maynard is easily worth £5m but in all honesty I think even if you offered £5m we'd knock you back. Except CMS was sold for £2.5m, well below what we were apparently offering last week. Make of that what you will..
Father Ted Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Jeffery Schlupp - now is your time boyo. Lets hope so!
sdb Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 He doesn't want to come here, Bristol don't want him to come here. I'd not waste any energy on this folks.
STUHILL Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Except CMS was sold for £2.5m, well below what we were apparently offering last week. Make of that what you will.. Thought it was 3.25million??

Collymore Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 He would be worth it if if he was on a 4 year contract and hadn't had that injury. We can't justify £5M, even if we could easily afford it. There seems to be a massive smugness about BCFC, I think we should run his contract down, sign on a free and loan to Bristol Rovers while we sign the Yak
