80footgiraffe Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 Have to admit I didn't know much about Maynard, but after a bit of research post-CMS, WE NEED THIS GUY IN OUR TEAM! Fits what Sven tried to install last season to a tee, throw in Matt Mills, a tasty winger or two and a workhorse forward and we will be in fantastic shape! DAVID NUGENT!!!
dannythefox Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 DAVID NUGENT!!! Agree with Nugent also i think Waghorns work rate is pretty good too!
crisp packet Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 Forget waghorn , if he was in plans we wouldn't be after other strikers......
MrSpaM Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 Agree with Nugent also i think Waghorns work rate is pretty good too! Did make me laugh on the phone in tonight when they were talking about what player we need to bring in, Waghorn was ticking all the boxes. Just a shame his form wasnt up to scratch last season really
sdb Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 The bits we keep hearing offer no real indication that he wants to come here. I'm not holding my breath.
The People's Hero Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 Maynard and Mills and I'll be one happy little antelope. Can an antelope really be little? I mean, sure, little for an antelope, but that's hardly little at all really is it? I suppose it's all relative.
fadedfox Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 We NEED to sign this guy, various media sources reporting that Bellamy is on his way back to West Ham. Bad news if true.
John Matrix Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 Maynard and Mills and I'll be one happy little antelope. Can an antelope really be little? I mean, sure, little for an antelope, but that's hardly little at all really is it? I suppose it's all relative. yes..you dik dik
The People's Hero Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 That's not an antelope, that's a Sol Bambi. Actually, it must be several as Bambi is the plural of Bamba
phillthefox Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 I hope we can now sign maynard, as CMS has show little ambition by signing for a club destined to go back to league 1, COME ON SVEN PULL OUT A MASSIVE SIGNING !!!

Guest ttfn Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 I can see the negotiations between Bristol City and the Thais now...
GH1 Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 Maybe Brighton were showing ambition - i dont know the finance behind that club but the following suggests either we werent ofering that much or Brighton are a 'player' I got a phone call on Sunday to say that West Ham had pulled out... then Brighton came in with an offer, it wasn't as good as West Ham's, but it was matching Leicester's with a bit more money up front. lets concentrate on Maynard he was the one most ofus wanted anyway - we need some fire power
The People's Hero Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 I can see the negotiations between Bristol City and the Thais now... You liar! That's a clip from South Park. Good effort though. Very sneaky.

CMS has pretty much confirmed this in an interview on the Brighton OS.
bcfc1897 Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 Just thought I'd pop in to see how the land lies on here re Maynard. Almost as busy as our board then, we have 22 pages, 64,000 views and nearly a thousand replies to the Maynard thread. Madness. The otib itk says http://www.otib.co.uk/index.php?/topic/136858-the-nicky-maynard-thread-merged/page__st__945 Not sure, I wouldn't expect it to be long, but it's basically what everyone is guessing. New deal with Prem get-out clause, as far as I'm aware. Next few days at the longest I would guess, but possibly very soon. Maynard has indicated his wish to stay, but he would say that wouldn't he. The club do not wish another championship club to have him and the player wants a premiership club so it makes sense to offer something along those lines. They've offered him a two-year double-your-money extension, that's a fact. This is almost true. Not quite double as I understand it, but certainly the highest paid player at the club by some distance if he accepts the deal. WTF is that bloke on about further up???? "Leicester have recently come out in the press saying sven has 5m to spend on TWO strikers to improve their squad so i highly doubt they will table an offer of 2.5m for Nicky... unless there now only after 1 striker, but even so they only have 5m max to spend on one! that plus the club have already said they wont sale to another Championship club! and nicky has said he wont join another Championship club... Conclusion: there wasting there time!!" Idiot. We all have 'em mate, maybe we have a few more than normal. I wouldn't know about that, but I do know that if CMS is worth 3m then Maynard is worth at least 5m. Totally different player and totally different class, Maynard will work and work all over the pitch and get stuck in (sent off 3 games from the end of season for a tasty tackle and needs to cut it out before he injures himself badly) and he'll score out of nothing from all angles and all distances. He makes things happen for himself and gets loads of shots off on goal with a very high percentage on target. Fantastic potential at 24. If you get him and you have good players around him, he can make all the difference to you going up or not. No offence, but I sincerely hope you don't get him...
StarFox Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 Can everyone calm down a little. So far Bristol have said they don't wish to sell him and Maynard has so far indicated that he wants to stay to let his contract run out. I know we are all reading between the lines but all these posts about Maynard is just working everybody up, probably for nothing. Lets try and keep this thread tidy so we can all read actual developments regarding Maynard. Also I expect a few papers to print a few story's about Leicester and Maynard tonight, but I expect it all to be speculation .

The Doctor Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 Brighton won't go down. i believe that was also said about us in the summer of 2007 & newcastle in 2008.
thybluefox Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 No offence taken mate! Time will tell I guess, really hope Sven does what it takes though. Saying that, I really hope the CMS deal isn't going to warp prices for similar players this summer.
STUHILL Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 I just can't see this one happening. Seems like Bristol don't want to sell and don't need to and he doesn't want to leave unless it's for Prem football now. Can see him hanging on there if no Prem clubs come in for him but you never know I guess.
rico Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 i just can't seem to get excited by this one,not bothered if he comes or not
anotherharboroughfox Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 I can see the negotiations between Bristol City and the Thais now... I see that, and raise you this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gY3QmYqfgRI

Saying that, I really hope the CMS deal isn't going to warp prices for similar players this summer. With regard to warping prices, it may be that other clubs see that Leicester have some dosh these days and will try to inflate prices for their players where they are involved and agents have been known to use clubs in this respect (no shit sherlock).. Leicester seem to be all over the football pages because of Sven and the money which is great for your image etc., but maybe not so good when it comes to the negotiating stuff ? But what do I know, I'm just a supporter not a manager thank god. Anyway, it's good to see you lot having a bit of a better time than under Hollowhead and division three (what a desparate division that is and bloody hard to get out of - apart from you lot of course), so best of luck for the season, I'm sure you'll be up there in the top 6.
