Jon the Hat Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 I believe loan strikers have been known to score the odd goal. Don't panic. Fantastic forwards? We aren't trying to win the champions League here, we need the team to click and some consistency. Not everyone goes up with a start striker scoring a hat full.
Darkon84 Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Leon Best? Youve been listening to Alan Young havent you
Babylon Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 We had goals all over the park last year with Gally and King both chipping in big numbers. We now also have Danns who is another player who can get goals from midfield. If we can get the defence to chip in with goals (Mills got 6 last year which isn't bad), then I think the need for a big name who's going to score 25/30 goals is being overplayed somewhat. If someone in Vassells position could chip in over 10, Danns 6/7 and a main striker Near 20 then I think we'd be ok. A million ifs and buts there though.
MikeyT Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 I'd be happy with Nugent and Yakubu Same here, just can't see Yakubu coming here now. Now mention of him for a while now.
John Matrix Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 yeah sorry forgot about nuge and cheddar boy. i think nugent would be a decent signing, hope he's not being a prat with wages though, although if he wasn't i'd expect he'd have signed b now

Libertine Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Don't be silly, we need a out and out goal scorer. Like QPR?
hackneyfox Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Same here, just can't see Yakubu coming here now. Now mention of him for a while now. He's not been linked with anyone else though has he? The longer it takes to sign them the more likely they are to realise that they aren't as wanted as their agents told them and the more realistic their salary expectations will be.
John Matrix Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Like QPR? we don't have taarabt and routledge on the wings
Bugg Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 We don't need another striker now the saviour has returned... That's right, KERMORGANT!!!
Houdini Logic Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 He's not been linked with anyone else though has he? The longer it takes to sign them the more likely they are to realise that they aren't as wanted as their agents told them and the more realistic their salary expectations will be. He was linked with West Ham last month, but only briefly and more than likely because everyone is linked to either West Ham and/or Leicester
Woollett's Wellies Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 The interesting thing with the Maynard contract has been the fact that, unless I've missed something, there were no bids from Premier league clubs. Now, you'd think that Maynard and his agent would want to get him in a position where a Prem club might be interested. The ideal situation for this, (you'd think) would be to run his contract out so there's no fee to BCFC. BCFC aren't going to want this. If he signs an extension with a 'release clause' how does this encourage interest from Prem clubs so Maynard gets his wish and BCFC get their money?
Babylon Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 we don't have taarabt and routledge on the wings Yeah how could we compete with Routledges 5 goals. And Andy King only scored two goals less than Taarabt in all competitions. Plus who would have said Grant Holt would do so well at Norwich? And one final point, Swansea only had one player in double figures for the season in the league and that's Sinclair with 19. They had lots of people chipping in 7/8/9 goals though. Kind of proves my point. If you are scoring goals all over the pitch you don't need that one huge goal scorer. Don't be silly, Coming from you?

Stocker Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 We don't need another striker now the saviour has returned... That's right, KERMORGANT!!! not too good at penalties but still a decent championship player
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 think we will up the Maynard bid soon which will be good . . . . . . .if only to piss off the racist scumbags brizzle fans
One Arm Babba Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 think we will up the Maynard bid soon which will be good . . . . . . .if only to piss off the racist scumbags brizzle fans Well, i would assume the 2 priority targets this week are him and Mills. Bert said we would be going back this week. Even though Nugent was a free transfer I still think it was a major coup to land him. It makes sense that now we have Nugent we can concentrate on the other striker required. Lets hope so. The squad is taking shape nicely.
Joe. Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 If what I've heard is true (and I have no doubt it is), prepare to be disappointed on this one.
