Fox 4 Life Posted 6 May 2011 Posted 6 May 2011 Just noticed a comment from Sven at the bottom of the merc story about King... "Tottenham are telling Kyle Naughton to go back for the pre-season with them and he does not have any choice," said Eriksson. "I wish things were clearer, but they are not." http://www.thebluearmy.co.uk/news/Marlon-King-target-Leicester-City-admits-Sven/article-3527327-detail/article.html? If that happens I think any chance of us signing him goes from unlikely to pretty much impossible as all sorts of teams will be looking at him. Our best chance is to speak to Spurs now and get a bid in before others realise. Massive shame as IMO he was hands down our best player this season.
Ric Flair Posted 6 May 2011 Posted 6 May 2011 Well Spurs are hardly gonna tell Naughton he's free to find another club and not to report for training. He's 22, under contract in the England Under 21 squad and has just been named in the championship team of the season. He's shit hot. However, Spurs will sell him but they will hold out for as much as possible and might want a look at him pre-season. They do however have Kyle Walker, Hutton, Corluka, Bassong and if needs be Gallas at right back so there's still a chance we'll get him. But it'll be for more than we'd have paid last January.
zubi Posted 6 May 2011 Posted 6 May 2011 This was always going to happen, all the loan players will go back and be with their original teams for a while, then when the transfer window opens they will be free to move about. If they are to be sold or loaned back out that is.

If he stays with us we are pretty much in control of the price - other clubs will see him as 'ours'. It will seem like he wants to stay with us. Going back to spurs alerts other clubs and possibly drives up his price
Babylon Posted 6 May 2011 Posted 6 May 2011 Bit of a nothing story really in my eyes. They have told him to report back to them, well it's obvious they would do really. Until such time they have something agreed with us (or any other club) then he and them will go about their business as usual.

Agreed, and surely the Naughton saga will be down to the wire depending on what happens with Walker,
LCFCmatt Posted 6 May 2011 Posted 6 May 2011 Who needs Naughton? We've got the magical Michael Lamey! Hat trick every game.
LCFC94 Posted 6 May 2011 Posted 6 May 2011 Spurs fan said that we would have a decent chance of signing him cause theyve got kyle walker n hutton n a few other players that can play RB soooo......
elliottbaby. Posted 7 May 2011 Posted 7 May 2011 We need to push and class naughton as our main target of the transfer season. he's the best rightback Leicester have had for god knows how long and he can score goals too! However if tottenham are holding on to him we need to find someone else for right back as I dont fancy Robbie nielson playing there for us next season.
MPH Posted 7 May 2011 Posted 7 May 2011 Swap deal for Crouch and Defoe Naughton is already their player....
Bryn Posted 7 May 2011 Posted 7 May 2011 I don't reckon we'd spend more than £3.5m and I wouldn't be surprised if he went for about £4m.
Austin Posted 7 May 2011 Posted 7 May 2011 He could probably play for a decent premier league team, shame really, Would love to see him here next season.
Lesta Legend Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 Went to the players awards yesterday, naughton admitted his spell has given him a massive confidence boost to try and fight for a place at spurs, I doubt he'll be back but who knows with sven.
whitlock Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 Unfortunatly, i can't see him returning <_< With him not being high in the pecking order at Spurs does give us hope, but i guess Prem teams would have been tracking his performances for us this season.
Carter The Boss Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 I would love it if he came back, and I think we've got a decent chance. As everyone else has said, Spurs would always tell him to go back for pre-season so its no surprise. Judging by what I've seen this season he's exactly the type of player we need in that position. Fingers crossed, feels like it could turn into another transfer deadline day saga like Waggy!
