You're just bitter, he was one of the best LB's in the prem before he signed for Liverpool which clearly knocked his confidence, a world class manager like Sven will get him back to his best!
Libertine Posted 12 July 2011 Posted 12 July 2011 He's had a bad year, he's not completely lost the ability that led to him being a decent Premier League left back in that time. He may well be shit for us, but as I've said, with the right management etc we could have a good player on our hands.

Playing under Sven in a decent team will surely bring his confidence and his form back. worth a punt for sure, if he was good enough for Liverpool under 2 years ago he's surely good enough for us to give him a decent shot.
Number 6 Posted 12 July 2011 Posted 12 July 2011 He went to Forest with little/no confidence left. Hopefully we can build that up again this year. That night Kermo was chipping a peno, Konchesky was playing in a Europa league final. Just need to bring that ability out.

How is it better? He wasn't very good for them. The same as at Liverpool. Like a number seem to be saying, with a clean slate I have faith he can reproduce the form of a few years ago. Hope to god he's on no more than 20k a week, even that seems a lot. On another note, players shouldn't just be able to demand ridiculous wages because of their current contract. If they signed for 40k a week after previously earning 20k a week and played shit for the best part of 2 years then there should be no qualms about them getting 20k a week again.

I'm really not bitter. You're very much welcome to him and I'm quite happy our board wouldn't stump up the cash after his displays for us last year. He's a perfectly competent LB and certainly better then the gaping hole we have atm but not worth 15k. What you have is a no nonsense blood and guts type who'll give everything for the cause but at times his lack of technical ability means he gives away silly fouls trying to get the ball back and he often gets exposed by the more tricksy of winger. I hope he does well for you, any player who's mum slates the scousers is ok by me.

Player.....plays wells > interest from bigger club > signs with new and better contract > plays shit for 2 years > sold to smaller club..............most of the time seems to think he is worth the same massive contract as he was on at the bigger club.

Practically every Championship club would bite your hand off to be able to get a player like Konchesky in, and the fact that this isn't considered a big signing for us shows just how far we've come. If only it was that simple. We seem to have a right hand that's barely aware of the left hands existence let alone what's doing. It makes for some painful viewing at times.
