Itsthejoeker Posted 24 May 2011 Posted 24 May 2011 Oh yeah I know that, I meant I wasn't sure what him not turning up meant, sure it has some significance, but I can't think what. He's hiding? Probably hiding from the abuse he'd get from some of the public, my guess is he was asked not to turn up to prevent disruption?
Bert Posted 24 May 2011 Posted 24 May 2011 As "The Jam" once sang "You've made your bed you'd better lie in it". Lost enough respect for Giggs, I actually thought he really was the model pro. How could anyone do that to their wife and kids?

James. Posted 24 May 2011 Posted 24 May 2011 The irony is that if he'd just let it come out in the press he would have got one day on the front page of the NotW and then a few days later everyone would have forgotten about it. Spectacular fail from Giggs. What a complete prick.
Joe. Posted 24 May 2011 Posted 24 May 2011 Glad it's all come out, I hate all of these super-injunctions. Most of the time footballers can cover these things up these days, which is wrong in my book. I know for a fact there's still another high-profile Premier League footballer with one over their head that they've managed to keep going for now.

I read something in the Metro yesterday, saying that someone was accepted a ruling, given by a judge, that the player in question be kept secret so that he doesn't get booed at matches and suffer abusive behaviour.

hairy Posted 24 May 2011 Posted 24 May 2011 I feel quite sorry for her myself. She didn't want to be exposed in the press but has been while Top-Flight Premiership Footballer was able to fight and win a battle to keep his name under wraps until Twitter came along. This wasn't about publicity for her and in my opinion she's actually been remarkably dignified. Funny how a press photographer was always able to catch her slipping out of a hotel room where she had been with him. Wonder how they knew where she was? Funny how its the Sun's lawyers who have tried to have the injunction lifted 'on her behalf' but the Judge refused stating Giggs had obviously been set up but her and the Sun. Funny how she goes on chat shows to not talk about it. But of course waving the 'victim flag' is the only publicity she can get. All very dignified
Benji Posted 24 May 2011 Posted 24 May 2011 Clearly there's no smoke without fire: "Giggs will tear you apart... again"

If not, surely she'd just come out and defend herself...

Benji Posted 24 May 2011 Posted 24 May 2011 Perhaps its me,but i dont give a shit,i dont know them=none of my business! You are a member of the public and as such it is in your interest to know. Freedom Fighters!
General Smuts Posted 24 May 2011 Posted 24 May 2011 I can't wait to find out which one of the Chuckles has an injuction out. I bet its Barry.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 24 May 2011 Posted 24 May 2011 No benji. Theres a difference between whether something is of interest to the public and something that the public are interested in. This case is the latter. Personally I don't care. It hasn't affected me in the indirect way that rooneys affair did (being a massive england fan) I have a book written by a bloke called ned kelly who left the sas to become chief of security at man u. In the book he briefly alludes to giggs wanting a blokes bird to come into this private party, but for ned kelly to '**** the bloke off'

Being serious for a second I agree, but then I'd categorise all things 'celebrity' related as part of the latter.
Fox92 Posted 24 May 2011 Posted 24 May 2011 I know a footballer, or sports athlete, should be a role model/act like a professional, like Paul Scholes does - he's a great role model. However, I don't see why the media should constantly persue Giggs about it. This sort of thing (affairs and all that) go on every day in the World, and the media are highlighting this particular one (and in the past, Rooney) because the person is a sports athlete. Ok it is bad, but in my opinion, they should just leave Giggs (or whoever it is) along, because he is a footballer and his football should make the headlines, not his personal life. Potential footballers, and football fans in general may have gone off Giggs because of this, but as a football fan myself I'll always look upto him as a footballer.

But as a professional footballer, he should be a role model too to many fans and younger players alike. Up until recently, he was known as a typical family man and a respected professional. Incidents like this can tarnish a player's reputation and the respect they've earned forever. It's the media's job to get a story, and stories like this make them feel like they've hit the jackpot. At the end of the day it's their job to bring the stories to the public and they're ruthless in doing so.

Father Ted Posted 24 May 2011 Posted 24 May 2011 Do the crime, do the time. He deserves all the abuse he gets. As for the other player with the injunction, Capello has a lot of favourite, who were boring and were shown up by the Germans last year... anymore clues?
Webbo Posted 24 May 2011 Posted 24 May 2011 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13521267.stm What a w@nker. The journalist has just doing his job. I hope the officials at Wembley tell Fergie no.

From what I have just read he may or may not play for Man City. He may or may not have played for Aston Villa too.
