MPH Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 Im starting to get worried sven just cough up the cash and get maynard !!! Maynard is overrated he is not worth 6m that Southampton are willing to seemingly part, think the difference is that Maynard... and how good he is is a different discussion... is not a big name player that people in Thailand or other countries in that area ... have not really heard of.. Robbie Keene they might well of. In other words the owners will be willing to go that extra mile for a big name player and have stated they want a big name player that can raise our ( their ) profile. Its perfectly decent buisness profile before anyone complains and they are going about it the RIGHT way.. if they improve everything about our club and make it sucessful in the long term then that will raise King Powers profile long term too... Mandaric would of sold to a 3 legged Donkey with an obsession for golf balls if the deal had been right for him but as it turns out these guys are very good for our club...
m00nie Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 IF IF IF IF IF IF IF IF IF IF IF IF IF IF IF IF... if I win the lottery I can pay off my mortgage, so it stands to reason I should go and and buy a great big fecking house I can't really afford without actually having won the lottery. Not the same exactly I know, but there has to be some sense involved in transfer dealings. We can't plan around premier league football if we don't have it. but the owners CAN afford it... having a maynard in the team gives us a better chance so why not take it??? spending 1 or 2 million over on 1 player is hardly like getting a great big fecking house is it.. its like buying a tent for a campin trip you may go on
Happy Fox Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 I would imagine that Sven is pissed off with this whole Maynard debacle, as I and some other people are as well, we have moved on now I presume by looking at other targets
MPH Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 Southampton have money, on my preview someone did say they have lost out on a couple of good players, but will also be in the hunt for some. Maynard to Southampton is very likely to be honest and it wouldn't be a surprise. Fourth Official is only saying Anichebe because he want's him gone from his supported Everton, Robbie Keane is the one to believe but doubt were looking into Anichebe. Shame someone like Stokes and Hooper only signed for Celtic last year There are some HUGE teams trying to go up this year.... and if Southamption want to spend a huge chunk of their income on just one player then i think that might be their downfall... they will need several big players on decent incomes to compete with the teams that came down and teams like us who are spending big... I would consider it a big mistake for them to sign him... moreover i would be very suprised if he opted for them... Bristol City i would imagine to have as just a good a possibility of reaching the play offs as they do..

MPH Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 More relegation fodder like i was basically trying to say that Bristol are no different to southampton not that they are a good team... ah well i guess that was lost on you....
Happy Fox Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 Would we be able to get Robbie Keane? Or maybe we will have to go abroad to get a striker?
TrentFox Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 i was basically trying to say that Bristol are no different to southampton not that they are a good team... ah well i guess that was lost on you.... Southampton are a different level to Bristol. Saints ground, training facilitaties, infrastructure are top notch. Well supported, with a good squad and a very impressive young manager who gets his teams playing terrific football. NM would possibly be the difference between them being near the top 6 and IN the top 6. That's still no reason for concern ... 6 teams will ultimately be in the top 6 !!! We just need to make sure we're one of them.
Happy Fox Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 http://twitter.com/#!/TonyHusbandTV TonyHusbandTV Tony Husband #saintsfc Also heard talk today of a major bid for a striker by Southampton. They've been linked in the papers with Jay Rodriguez. 6 minutes ago
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 still no news on a new forward for city then?
Happy Fox Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 Itkagent1962 ... Expecting the Maynard to saints deal to gather pace after this weekends round of games... #saints #lcfc
Callabinho Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 If we are going to prize him away from the grips of Southampton then it will take an over the odds bid! If we are going to prize him away from the grips of Southampton then it will take an over the odds bid!

Happy Fox Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 Itkagent1962 ... For those on my TL suggesting #lcfc are the bigger and better club. #saints have plenty of ambition and cash. A cracking youth setup. Cont.
m00nie Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 considering hes meant to have been our number 1 target why did we piss about putting low bids in... we only have ourselves to blame now if we lose out.. cant see us getting him now as if we wouldnt pay 5 mil before why would we bother with 6 or 7....
Sloanfox Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 If it is believed that s'hampton are in for Nm then i expect them to recieve the same response have had from BC, "We're not willing to sell to a rival club in the Championship" and fair enough S'hampton have got good foundations to be a Premier League club again but i feel it would definately be the wrong move for Maynard, if not to Leicester or West Ham then to a Premier club.
Joe. Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 If I was to pick a club we were on par with I'd go for Southampton. Plenty of ambition, money behind them, a solid fan base and a stadium we basically copied. Good club.
Raw Dykes Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 i was basically trying to say that Bristol are no different to southampton not that they are a good team... ah well i guess that was lost on you.... I really don't know what you're basing that on. Southampton are a similar size club to us. They were an established PL side for years, have a fairly new 32,689 seater stadium, excellent academy, and have plenty of money to spend. Bristol have none of those things.
Cropwellfox Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 If I was to pick a club we were on par with I'd go for Southampton. Plenty of ambition, money behind them, a solid fan base and a stadium we basically copied. Good club. Absolutely spot on. If anything they are slightly more fortunate that us, as they have a real knack of bringing through exceptional youth players who they can cash in on and reinvest every 3 or 4 years to supplement the sizable investment from the owners. Having lived down there for a bit i'm glad they are in the ascendency - went to a couple of games in their relegation season and the parralel with our situation from the year before was haunting. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they are in the prem next year.

Look at the facts. Southampton have had a very similar run to us. They got relegated the season after us from the PL, and have struggled to get back they. They have good financial backing, a good ground and a good fan base. Honestly they're very similar to us in more ways than one, and could easily have a good season and challenege us up top. Don't think it would be a bad move for Maynard, although coming to us would be better!
wattolcfc Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 I think we should go for Emnes from boro, completely tore us apart last season..
Happy Fox Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 I think we should go for Emnes from boro, completely tore us apart last season.. Signed a new 3 year contract

Hahahahaha.... Oh wait, you're being serious. We sensibly would not pay over the odds for a Championship striker. 7 million is a ludicrous amount of money for Maynard...
