Bert Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 Always highly valued Bert, but accuracy on transfers is quickly declining The one and only time I'm going to bite. We had a bid for JTS rejected, so explain how that was wrong? We had a bid for Long tabled, they only wanted to sell to a prem club. so explain how that was wrong? Fair enough nothing came out of the Maynard one, I'll hold my hands up there. . Please also read the big capital letters that said IF it happens. Not when, not will.

I'm just getting a tad frustrated with everything.
Lester LXXIV Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 I'm surprised at you Bert.. Fancy giving the buggers a bite!

Callabinho Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 Everything Bert has told us has been true and correct as always. We just need to be patient as fans! Sven will get his man be it Maynard or not Maynard! I know it has been said before, but we should be grateful for what Bert tells us, Imagine if the Merc was our one and only source?

Babylon Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 ALL sources should be questioned, just because someone used to be correct doesn't mean they still are as i've mentioned before. A source is only as good as their last piece of information, so the OP is right to wonder whether the information stream Bert received is still there or not. Bert shouldn't take it to heart and others shouldn't abuse the OP for questioning Bert either. He wasn't over the top or rude as some people have been previously and the only thing that will answer the question is if Bert tells us something before it's been mentioned elsewhere and it comes true. Berts a good lad, I've got no problem with him at all just to make that clear and I'm sure he knows that. Do I think he still gets information... yes I do. Do I think he takes a punt now and again after seeing something reported elsewhere, rather than wait for his source to give concrete confirmation of someone signing... yes I do. Why? Well it's a competitive world in the "in the know" world.
Itsthejoeker Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 I don't have a problem with him. I just wondered whether the person he's getting info from is starting to dry up. It happens. The crypticness of the tweets didn't really help either

artursteppe Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 No new striker before next week says Bert. I can accept that. If we are to sign Maynard, it makes total sense to me that it would not be before Wednesday. Bristol City would never sell him to us so that he could play against them in the next match. Furthermore, if Maynard has not signed a new contract with less than two weeks of the transfer window remaining, and if Bristol City have not received any adequate bids from Premiership clubs, we could say 'take it or leave it' for a transfer next Thursday, and they would probably feel they have to take it. It may also already be arranged to appear like that, in other words a deal in principal may already be in place to facilitate a transfer in time for the Forest game. Who knows?
Cat Burger Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 it's a competitive world in the "in the know" world. 'And everything counts in large amounts...'

Callabinho Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 Heard Southampton are about to seal a few major signings following the departure of AOC, one name mentioned was Maynard, I don't know how true it is......
Joe. Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 Heard Southampton are about to seal a few major signings following the departure of AOC, one name mentioned was Maynard, I don't know how true it is...... I'd say they'll only be in the same boat as us. Bristol City's stance has always been the same with Maynard - they don't feel as if they have to sell him, but they will if the right offer comes in from the Premiership. As far as I'm aware Maynard feels the same way too. That said, if nobody bothers making an offer from the Premiership then I have a feeling they'll be quite open to a bidding war between whoever fancies him in this league. My money's on ourselves, Southampton and West Ham. All three will have the money to spend on him, and as far as I'm aware all are very keen to add him.

[/quote I imagine this will go to the end with us, West Ham and Southampton fighting for his signature
DorsetFox9 Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 Fourth_Official Fourth Official I said last week Southampton will rock the boat for Leicester, I'll develop on it a little more #nickymaynard
bluearmyfox23 Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 Do u reckon he would choose southampton or west ham over us i dont this is why we are bigger than southampton and can probz offer better wages and at west ham he is not guranteed 1st team every week he is more or less here guranteed tht he can walk into are starting 11
Happy Fox Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 If we get Robbie Keane this will soften the blow
Happy Fox Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 Fourth_Official Fourth Official Leicester's targets at the moment are very much Victor Anichebe & Robbie Keane #LCFC Itkagent1962 ... Hearing Southampton will sign Nicky Maynard ahead of #lcfc #sfc
Stevosevic Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 F**k off Soton, if we end up spending 6 weeks chasing Maynard, but end up with Anichebe and NM goes to Soton, i will not be happy
Simmo86 Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 F**k off Soton, if we end up spending 6 weeks chasing Maynard, but end up with Anichebe and NM goes to Soton, i will not be happy Me neither!

Joe. Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 F**k off Soton, if we end up spending 6 weeks chasing Maynard, but end up with Anichebe and NM goes to Soton, i will not be happy This place will go into bloody meltdown. If we got Keane and missed out on Maynard I could live with that, but I fear we'll miss out on both. I thought Sven had already dismissed Anichebe according to the Mercury?
