JoeyB Posted 7 June 2011 Posted 7 June 2011 Not sure if its worthy of a topic of its own, but have heard a few whispers from forest that Chris Gunter is on his way to Leicester, not to sure how true it is, so don't shoot me down. also part of the whispers are Davies is going, and an irish consortium are looking to take over forest, the consortium involves O'Neil. So anyway, Chris Gunter, thoughts?
Ric Flair Posted 7 June 2011 Posted 7 June 2011 If true, i'd take him. He's more than good enough at this level. He can play left or right if I remember rightly? Not as good as Naughton but better than Van Aanholt and Berner. Get him in.
AmyLGK Posted 7 June 2011 Posted 7 June 2011 O'Neil to Forest?? I love the man dearly but I don't think even I could cope with that appointment!
David Guiza Posted 7 June 2011 Posted 7 June 2011 I've heard something similar about an Irish consortium, I believe it involved Magners, and O'Neil but not heard anything about Gunter.
Ashley Posted 7 June 2011 Posted 7 June 2011 Gunted would be an excellent signing, he can play left or right back . I'm still holding out hope for Kyle Naughton. Both of these players at left and right back will be amazing
Callabinho Posted 7 June 2011 Posted 7 June 2011 Didn't rate him one little bit against us,I'm not pessimistic about most linked players but I don't rate Gunter.
MikeyT Posted 7 June 2011 Posted 7 June 2011 Think he'd be a pretty decent signing. I can't wait till we finally make a first signing. I'm getting itchy for one now!!
RedHux Posted 7 June 2011 Posted 7 June 2011 Chris can only play left back in the sense that you or I could also play left back. We have two decent right backs so he gets pushed out there because we haven't got anyone else. The Irish consortium story has been around for a good while (at least since this time last year) and is widely considered to be utter tosh. If you really want some nonsense to laugh about then look no further then the evening post : Davies future unclear. They've been publishing this nonsense since the season ended and as the club don't talk to them due to an earlier falling out they know about as much as anyone else. Other rumours that probably include somewhat more truth is that Tyson's off to Direby after turning down our latest contract offer.

RedHux Posted 7 June 2011 Posted 7 June 2011 Red carpet, rad flags, a parade through the streets and probably a celebratory holiday declared for all in Notts. Never going to happen though unless some foreign billionaire wants to chuck a pile of money his way and we all know that sort of thing never ever happens!!
blueblood88 Posted 7 June 2011 Posted 7 June 2011 Decent player, definately good enough for this level. As i've said in another thread, Peltier from Huddersfield is expected to be here by next week at the earliest. if we can get Gunter aswell, that will be two full backs i will be more than happy with. Both young so have room to improve.

toblerone Posted 7 June 2011 Posted 7 June 2011 Deffo not happening I'm afraid I no Chris personally have known him since i was 6 and hav just phoned him he laughed when I told him.
Fox92 Posted 7 June 2011 Posted 7 June 2011 I'd take Gunter. One of the more better full backs within the division and avaliable to us, so I'd happy like to see him at the Walkers. And he can play on both sides just in case of an injury or something. O'Neil to Forest?? I love the man dearly but I don't think even I could cope with that appointment! He used to play for Forest anyway, so whats the difference?

It would be lovely wouldn't it, i just can't wait to get that pre-season feeling of optimism having looked at the recent additions to the squad, please Sven, sign someone before this week is out!!

He's of to them after the trouble he got in for with the corner flag situation... doubtful.

lestajigs Posted 7 June 2011 Posted 7 June 2011 What happened with the Jay Bothroyd situation then? How was his 'meeting with Sven' about two weeks ago? It went that well he's going everton
Adster Posted 7 June 2011 Posted 7 June 2011 It went that well he's going everton I know yeah, I was just meerly taking the piss as he flamed me for calling his post ridiculous for having no proof whatsoever
RedHux Posted 7 June 2011 Posted 7 June 2011 He's of to them after the trouble he got in for with the corner flag situation... doubtful. BBC link. It makes sense for him really. He's happy in the area so no family relocation. He barely gets near our first team and Direbys lack of anything approaching a competent footballer means more games for Nath. Our fans reaction swings wildly from "All the best, thanks for your good work", to "Die die die you judas scum!!" I'm in the first camp fwiw.
Danny the Fox 95 Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 Ive heard from a good source that Sven's going to make a bid for Chris Gunter from Forest, if Crystal Palace want too much money for Nathaniel Clyne, personally I'd have Gunter over Clyne any day of the week. When I watched him last season at the Walkers and The City Ground he looked solid. He can also play at right back and left back so he would be a good player to have in the squad. Also only about 22 years old and has been at Tottenham so he would be able to make the step up to the Premier League if we get there next season. Thoughts?
sdb Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 He's good, but he'd want to start week in week out which i'd imagine is unlikely. I know very little about Clyne, but he sounds immense whilst also being more one for the future and equally versatile. So...i dunno.

Think he would definitely start as he can play right back and left back, and also played regularly at Forest last season, who themselves have a very good defence.
