Plastic fan?

So who's more plastic someone with a family that can only scrape money together to go to a few games and chooses the ones that will give them the best value or someone that has money to burn, maybe an executive box that spends the game eating drinking chatting, clapping politely if we score, not that bothered if we lose yet attends every home game - maybe it's neither But I wouldn't call the first person a plastic fan as I've been there.

Agreed, i went to around 8 or 9 games this season, last season i only went to 7 and the few seasons before that 4 or 5 a season mainly because i work in a 24hr shift related sort of job which automatically means i miss around 10 to 15 games a season and then because of my wifes debts and csa payments etc i find i can only afford between 5 and 10 games a season maximum at present. However i am as passionate as i have ever been about the club we all love as ive been going to see them since the 1979-80 season and i have been a season ticket holder in several seasons since aswell as almost every year i am a member (last season i was a flexi 10 member (shared with my wife) and the season before i was a platinum member). The seasons i only managed 4 or 5 games or so i felt awful but it really was only personal circumstances that prevented me from going to more. Anyway up the Foxes :scarf:

Ok so here's a question on a pretty related line. I've always enjoyed playing & watching football but have never really had an allegiance to a team. The 2 nearest teams to me are Ebbsfleet & Gillingham, I've been to a number of games for both. I've followed Man Utd more than anyone ( I know, glory hunter, blah blah blah ), the only real reason is just because my Dad is a supporter and would always watch them, talk about them so it just came from there. To be honest even if I lived opposite a stadium I would barely attend games, simply because I have bigger passions that I would rather spend my money on. So my question is, if I were to 'pledge an allegiance' to Leicester City (buy strips, follow team & club news closely, be vocal about the team, possibly attend a few away games a year, etc..), how would you lifelong Leicester fans feel about me? Would you be glad to have another supporter of the club, or would you absolutely detest everything about me?! I expect some abuse, but more than anything I'm just intrigued & interested in your honest opinions?

I'd feel you'd missed out on a lot :P

There'd be absolutely nothing wrong with what you've said though. Caring about the club and the team is most important in my eyes. You're never going to have that straight way but that's part of the fun. I think you grow into your club.

I would welcome you aboard the blue bus to enjoy the ride!

Just one question, if you have no particular liking for any club, how come you are a member of foxestalk, or are you a member of many teams forums?

Bollocks! Bollocks!, and more bloody bollocks! Plastic fans, my arse! Just what the shite is all this nonsense?

AMEN!!

I tell you what people, theres a vast majority here who are too concerned about what other people are doing rather than enjoying the games themselfs.

It riles the **** out of me when you get slated for not singing, not standing, not eating pies and drinking beer. Every person goes to the game and gets something different out of it. So what if thats a company director entertaining his clients and spending a bucketload of cash which goes to our club? So what if someone doesnt sing and prefers to listen to comentary? SO what if someone takes their own food and drink to a game?!

SERIOUSLY!!! Get a god damn life! Mind your business and concentrate on what YOU ARE there for.

I'm as passionate as the best and hate to slate fellow LCFC fans but we really have some absolute retards in our fanbase.

You, my friend are getting a virtual pat on the back. So what if you dont support a particular team? I love watchign any football and analyse the fine details of tactics and technique. Doesnt matter who, i love the game and I fully support your stance.

The honest answer is out of all my friends, work colleagues, etc that are into football, the ones who know most about the game are the supporters of footbal league clubs. A typical conversation with a Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal... fan is about 1 minute actual football, 20 minutes "19 league titles, we've won it 5 times, 49 games unbeaten, Wenger's a paedo, blah blah blah". Obviously I know these, and all clubs, have plenty of passionate and football savvy supporters, it's just I live in the South East so I rarely meet them

Don't get me wrong I love a bit of banter, but I like to talk about the game or something relevant, not something your team did 40 years ago. So yeah, I pitched the idea to my (knowledgeable) friends and we came up with Leicester as the team I'll support. Then I joined the forum and posted this question!

Agree with this.

So true, I'm sick of the tossers down here preaching about top 4 teams, I'd say 20 percent of them have actually seen 'their team' play. As soon as you name them plastic, all you get is- "championship team haha". So childish.

Also, I'm belated that West fuvking Ham got relegated, so many fags down here that show the WHU mentality.

Gillingham FC is also a joke club, someone will have to put 50 stewards on me when we play them next, absolutely awful club with shit fans.

i managed to go to 2 home matches last season and 4 aways,so not that many games,i have to travel more than most for a home match, but i do listen to the live stream.Having 2 kids and a wife who works hard in the week,im aware going to loads of games would be classed as taking the piss! Does this make me a plastic fan?

I can assure you my passion for LCFC is there, you ask my wife what sort of mood i am in when we lose and the pacing that goes on in our house with a tight game.

I do agree that some come out for the big games, years ago in our coca cola winning year i went to if i remember rightly.Northampton at home,Ipshit away QF,Wimbledon home and away SF only to be told you had to get tickets from the ground for the final,of which i could not get to.How pissed off was i!!

We all have to start somewhere. Fortunately for me my Dad is a big fan and got me into it from a very young age.

As long as you support the club and don't give up when we're crap then you'll be fine.

Surely just the fact you are using a Leicester fans forum filters you out from the plastic fans? If you didnt care for the club why would you bother posting on a forum all about Leicester or bother reading any of it.

A plastic fan is basically somebody who just turns up to the 'big games' local derbies and the Madrid games and then celebrates and says they are a real fan when we get promoted. Most annoying people on the planet :P

Personal circumstances change. I've not been to more than one game a season for the last 6 years or so, but I used to have a season ticket for many years at Filbert Street and the first few seasons at the Walkers and lots of awat games too.Family life, less disposable income available and work commitments mean it is not practical for me to go any more. But when the kids get older, I'll have a season ticket again and take them. I used to enjoy getting the train in to Leicester, getting pissed and then sitting through the game (a mixture of bad, very bad and occasionally good mostly) but it's less of a priority for me these days. So maybe I used to be a "real" fan, am now plastic, and at some point in the future will become a proper fan again?
