hackneyfox Posted 9 June 2011 Posted 9 June 2011 Source: http://www.fansonline.net/leicestercity/mb/view.php?id=363262 Look at the 15:06 posting, apparently this comes from someone inside the club.
Ric Flair Posted 9 June 2011 Posted 9 June 2011 This wouldn't suprise me, not sure whether it would work though. Has he still got the hunger and desire? There's no question of his ability even at his age but he'd need to be fit and motivated. I'd rather we looked elsewhere.
Liamlcfc1 Posted 9 June 2011 Posted 9 June 2011 They say nothing ever comes off foxes talk about players
Stevosevic Posted 9 June 2011 Posted 9 June 2011 Wouldn't be totally against it as a squad player, not as part of the first choice CB pairing though.
80footgiraffe Posted 9 June 2011 Posted 9 June 2011 I think other defenders are higher priority the signings of Panstil and Bougherra are more a) exciting b) realistic
Simo86 Posted 9 June 2011 Posted 9 June 2011 I think other defenders are higher priority the signings of Panstil and Bougherra are more a) exciting b) realistic How is signing Bougherra more realistic than Campbell?? Bougherra is contracted to Rangers and has reported Prem interest and Campbell is a free agent, I know which sounds more realistic to me
accessory Posted 9 June 2011 Posted 9 June 2011 Wouldn't be totally against it as a squad player, not as part of the first choice CB pairing though. With the money he'd ask for, Campbell would expect to be more than a squad player. Sven should steer well clear.
MPH Posted 9 June 2011 Posted 9 June 2011 unless i have missed something... what would be so bad about signing Campbell?
Haydos Posted 9 June 2011 Posted 9 June 2011 unless i have missed something... what would be so bad about signing Campbell? - He's 36 - Played about 10 games in the last 2 years - He was past it when he returned to Arsenal
artursteppe Posted 9 June 2011 Posted 9 June 2011 He would probably get more than most fans would want him to. However thousands of shirts with his name on would sell in Thailand and across Asia - much of his cost would be covered in this way. At his age I guess £15k per week would get him and he could impart knowledge, coach younger players, be at least a start in trying to attract quality players and he could still do a reasonable job on the pitch. There is no central defender in the country with more experience and at the lowest level he will ever have played ( apart from one game at Notts County ), 36 years old doesn't quite make you over the top at Championship level. How old was that Brown chap we got from Hull, I know he was utter sh1te but he was quite old I think. I don't remember fans questioning his age when he came.
MPH Posted 9 June 2011 Posted 9 June 2011 - He's 36 - Played about 10 games in the last 2 years - He was past it when he returned to Arsenal so he isnt good enough for champions league and high end prem football. Agreed on that. Pay as you play deal. Win win.

I just can't help feel this would be an awful singing. He was below average at Newcastle and barely played for them. I thought we were done with the Dabizas', Keowns and the like. On top of him not having the legs and ability any more it's not what we should be looking at.

hackneyfox Posted 9 June 2011 Author Posted 9 June 2011 We certainly need experience at the back, Sven has already stated this.
21st Century Fox Posted 9 June 2011 Posted 9 June 2011 As a squad player, yes please! He may go some way to curing some of the nerves we get at the back.
cc_star Posted 9 June 2011 Posted 9 June 2011 Needed the old head last season, would have been a good signing at the time instead of Bruma to add experience to the backline another year on though & as a prospect he's not so good
Simmo86 Posted 9 June 2011 Posted 9 June 2011 For his experience and passing on knowledge to the younger players i'd take Sol for a year.
DanTheFox07 Posted 9 June 2011 Posted 9 June 2011 Some pace at the back would be nice.....not sure campbell fall`s under that category!
hackneyfox Posted 9 June 2011 Author Posted 9 June 2011 We had pace last season and no experience, half this board complained about that.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 9 June 2011 Posted 9 June 2011 - He's 36 - Played about 10 games in the last 2 years - He was past it when he returned to Arsenal I was at the Arsenal - Man City game 15 months ago. He was by far and away the best player on the park. Would still rule this division imo and would be a welcome bit of experience missing in our defence. A player that can organise people around him that we have been sadly lacking for years.

I think he'd expect to play though, not come in and sit on the bench. We need two first choice CB's that will start 90% of games next season. If we bring him in that won't happen.
