Bryn Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 I see no reason to axe him, his wages will be much lower than most of our other players and I think he can still make an impact. He's a different type of player to anything else we have.
hackneyfox Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Oh good, so we've got a reasonably fast headless chicken for 3 seasons then. He doesn't even show passion, I swear he ran into spaces where the ball would never go last season when he came on as an impact sub after 70 minutes.

He's a different type of player to anything else we have. He's certainly that. When did he last make an impact? How many minutes did he play last season and what did he achieve? How do you know his wages will be much lower than most of our other players? They will be lower than the new signings but we know no more thathat, he was happy to sign for 4 years so he's hardly on a poor salary.
accessory Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 I doubt that anyone who saw him in last season's Man City games would say he lacked passion..

He doesn't even show passion, I swear he ran into spaces where the ball would never go last season when he came on as an impact sub after 70 minutes. That doesn't mean he lacks 'passion', it just means he doesn't have a top footballing brain. I also think you're being way too harsh to the lad. I know I'd love to see him running (and the boy can run!) at a Championship standard right back in the 90th minute. He's proven himself to be able to score goals, he HAS got a decent shot on him and can trick by defenders.
hackneyfox Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 What did he actually achieve last season? Do we want/need a player without a footballing brain who is totally one footed?

When he runs at that standard championship right back in the 90th minute the opposition will have a goal kick in the 91st minute, that's why Sousa played him on the right. 3in 35 2 seasons ago 3 in 33 last season You're all loving him for what he did in the 3rd division and loving him again because he says he doesn't want to leave.

Yeah, we all despise players who love our club and city... And I wonder how many assists he got? He is a winger after all, not a forward.
Carlos9 Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/Lloyd-Dyer-wants-stay-Leicester-City/story-12922114-detail/story.html Lloyd Dyer insists he has no desire to leave Leicester City. The popular winger has been linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium. Lloyd Dyer But he does not even entertain the thought of leaving a club he insists he has fallen in love with. Dyer has been strongly linked with a move to Sheffield Wednesday in recent weeks, but he says he has heard nothing from Wednesday, and neither would he welcome any approaches. Dyer admits he may not have played as much as he would have liked under Sven-Goran Eriksson since the City boss arrived last October. But he is backing his own ability to cement a place in Eriksson's side as they begin what Dyer believes will be a memorable season. "I am aware I have been linked with other clubs but, as far as I am concerned, I am a Leicester player and I love it here," said Dyer. "I don't want to go anywhere. This is my club. I can't see why I would go anywhere else, especially when there are exciting times ahead. "I have had no contact from Sheffield Wednesday and I wouldn't entertain that either. No-one has approached me. "I love this club and everyone in my family loves this club. My young son loves this club. "Everyone at the club is good to me and the fans are great to me. I don't want to go anywhere." He added: "There is more competition for places now but I see that as a greater chance that we can go up. There are some exciting times ahead. "This will probably sound a bit weird but last season was probably the first time I have played for a club and felt really proud to play for a club. I love to play for this club, I love it. I am proper proud to play for Leicester. "I didn't like the speculation. I don't want to go. No-one has approached me or my agent." Dyer, who signed a new four-year contract last season to commit himself to the club, said he feels City are on the verge of achieving something historic. "I 100 per-cent believe we are heading towards something special," he said. What a great thing to hear a player come out and say!
hackneyfox Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 It is good to hear a player talk like that about the club though.
hackneyfox Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Yeah, we all despise players who love our club and city... And I wonder how many assists he got? He is a winger after all, not a forward. Is he a winger? He cuts in, not crosses. How many assists did he get then? I seem to remember being more frustrated at the number of assists he didn't get. I'm pleased he loves the club and feels part of it, just a shame that he is no longer good enough.

I think his pace could be an asset next season. Your right in saying that his end product is not up to scratch but maybe Sven and the coaching staff could work with him on that? Pace is natural, End product can be taught. I know hes quite old but its not too late! I would keep him personally, that he loves playing and is willing to fight for a place only makes it better.
VampLCFC Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Who can blame Dyer, stay and be a Leicester City player, a club with huge ambition, mounting a real promotion challenge for the Premier league next season, spending millions of pounds, or probably take a pay cut to go and play for a mid table League One team.......... No brainer!! He'll have his little chances here and there, "super sub" come on late and scare defenders with his pace
Bluefoxtim Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Absolute love Lloydy! He may not always have an end product, but his pace is a big asset and whilst he won't be a first teamer, is certainly a player I'd have on the bench.
hackneyfox Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 People should read this thread from the beginning. The general consensus is that he's a good 3rd division player but doesn't really produce the goods regularly enough for this division. Then he says he doesn't want to leave and it's a big love fest and he becomes twice the player he actually is. Had he asked to leave doubtless he'd be useless.

Saw hin at training today, he was his ususal self. Quick, works hard and when he shoots he hit the cornerflag instead of the goal.

kingfox Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Good news to see a player wanting to stay. Lloyd should stay because he is an excellent player, for the first half of last season he was our best player by far but then got dropped to the bench and couldn't perform well enough while coming off it. Fingers crossed Sven will keep him because he is a very useful player, and very entertaining to watch.
wurmer Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Why on earth did we give dyer a 4 year contract One word Sousa.
