MikeyT Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Wish him all the best. As another posted put before, he did fantastic for us when we were promoted back to the Championship. Good luck to him.
thybluefox Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Looks nailed on he's leaving now, RL were reporting it this morning, nothing official yet though. Will be sad to see him go.
Charl91 Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Shame, I always rated Dyer. Hoping this isn't another Gradel.
Unabomber Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Always gave his all, just too inconsistent. Wish him all the best
Joe. Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Good luck to the bloke, he was a superb free signing in that League One season. He should fit in fine at Wednesday.
Thracian Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Couldn't understand why we used him so little last season when we had so few players with the pace to unlock organised defences. Dyer often looked one of our best players. Okay, he only had an hour or so in him but he always put the effort in during that time and caused disruption. And yet, for some reason, no matter how well he played early on in a season, he was reduced to being a bit part player and the lack of involvement seemed to blunt his cutting edge. Gallagher was accomodated out wide because he is so involved with our set pieces and Vassell was always favoured on the right (despite looking more dangerous in the middle) and Dyer's dilemma seemed to be just another example of whether a guy's face fit with the manager of the day. Presumably Sven has his reasons but I'll not be celebrating Dyer's departure. For years now we don't seem to have any idea of what constitutes a good wide player nor how to get the best from them. Yet Dyer has done as well as any, even despite having so little support from his full-back for much of the time because, generally our left-back options have been ordinary.
Stevosevic Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Pace to burn, but 75% of the time he is ineffective. Much better out there.
MC Prussian Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 I've always liked Lloyd Dyer and I was hoping to see more of him under Sven. All the best at wherever you're going next. Seeing that he's about to leave, now we're seriously lacking wingers. Which worries me a little.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Surely Sven has got to have a couple of wingers lined up then?
Liamlcfc1 Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Surely Sven has got to have a couple of wingers lined up then? Was thinking the same Whittingham Pillkington
Leicester_Loyal Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Was thinking the same Whittingham Pillkington Both of them would be quality. Other than Dyer, have we actually got any wingers in the squad atm?
Haydos Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Couldn't understand why we used him so little last season when we had so few players with the pace to unlock organised defences. Yet Dyer has done as well as any, even despite having so little support from his full-back for much of the time because, generally our left-back options have been ordinary. I'll be no means celebrating and he has been a good player for us, at times. His inability to kick a ball properly though underlines why I don't think he is a huge loss. I'll admit he does have frightening pace but he often struggles to keep the ball under control and his ball striking ability is woeful 90% of the time. (For a few laughs check out his effort in our crossbar challenge on Soccer AM) Good luck and all that Lloyd.
Corky Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Always tried his best and on his day was as threatening as any in our team. He should work on developing his right foot to add something more to his game.
ScouseFox Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 I liked Lloyd. He'll scare defenders shitless because he's got pace. He doesn't have a great end product and often drifts off the wing which always annoyed me, but he gave 100% every week. Good luck Lloyd, he should tear up league one.
RyanB89 Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Never been good enough for the championship cant say im to bothered, but good luck to him
Corky Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 I wouldn't say he's never been good enough for the Championship, he played a role in helping us to the play-offs.
hackneyfox Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 He's played well for us at times and I wish him all the best for the future but I have to say I am so pleased he's leaving, shows we are taking that step up and he should never have been given that extended contract. The length of the contract was the club's fault not Lloyds but I'm pleased that we're getting rid of some of the dead wood. Still a lot more to go yet though.
Dabizas Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 As previously said looks as though we are taking a step in the right direction, even as a fringe player the likes of dyer are just not good enough in my opinion. When at his best he is good no doubt can unlock defences and chip in with the odd goal, but far too often does he not play to his full potential. Or im thinking he does play to his potential and the good games are just luck! good luck to him though couldnt knock his effort
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Shame really as I like Dyer. Really tried hard and scored a few goals too. He is so left footed though. I cant remember having a player who always needs to have the ball on one foot, his right cant be too good. On his day he can cause defenders havoc, and sometimes he can go missing in games. Will be deadly at that level again though.
PeterTaylorsApprentice Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 i for one will be sad too see Dyer leave, always tried his hardest but just not consistent enough, i wish him luck at the owls
