Simmsy Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 GKs - Schmeichel, Weale. RBs - Peltier, Pantsil. CBs - Mills, Bamba, St. Ledger. LBs - Konchesky, Ball, Berner Two in each position, I'd call that healthy competition myself. Could probably do with another centre-back on loan maybe, but that aside I think we're there with our backline. Ideally Tunchev will get a contract. He would be happy to sit on the bench and take his chances when he gets them given his injury record imo, doesn't seem like the type to get stroppy. And I definitely agree that competition is healthy, keeps player's working hard as well as having good quality cover if needed. Another RB was definitely needed, and pantsil is a quality choice. It also means if we need DM cover, we can play Pelts there and still have a RB.
kingfox Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 Never heard of Pansil, Stringer is pretty stupid he should do more reasearch. Very good experienced signing is Mr Pantsil, could be like Konchesky a calm influence in the back four. Pantsil, Mills, St Ledger, Konchesky If we play that first game that looks pretty lush. Peltier, Bamba, Tunchev, Berner and possibly Ball aswell as back-up. Now get a pissing Striker Sven!!!
Chazwaz Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 Solid back line IMO get a super striker and we are set! Bring on Coventry!
Adster Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 Fourth_Official just DM'd me saying: it's all done mate, done his interview, pictures etc just whenever they get out their web team to do something haha Direct message sent by Fourth Official (@Fourth_Official) to you (@adster159) on Jul 21, 9:28 AM.
Madrid_Fox Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 I feel gutted for Peltier. He came here to play Championship football and looks like he has no chance now.
Kent Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 I feel gutted for Peltier. He came here to play Championship football and looks like he has no chance now. That's probably why he's a professional footballer and you're not.
Happy Fox Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 Surely Peltier will relish the opportunity of competing with some one of Pantsil experience it is hardly a hindrance
Guest MattP Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 Obviously not too convinced on Peltier then, wonder what he thinks of this saying he left because he could get first team football at this level. Pantsil is fairly solid though, easily good enough for this division.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 Good solid player, with Premiership experience. Competition for places in defence, which is good, and also plenty of cover, in case of injuries. Why, oh why, are so many people panicking about strikers? Sven has plenty of time, and I am sure, a few good ideas on who he will seriously target.
Madrid_Fox Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 Goalkeepers signed Kasper Defenders signed Peltier, Mills, St Ledger, Konchesky, Pantsill (Possibly Ball) Midfielders signed Danns Strikers signed Nugent Ok Sven, but how about somebody to replace Fryatt an Yakubu now?

MC Prussian Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 It's on the Beeb: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/14201537.stm
Guest MattP Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 don't think it's that at all you need competition for places and a back up in case of injuries I dont think Peltier would of signed if he saw Pantsil walking in the door at the same time. You need strength in depth but you also need a happy squad, its very hard to find the right balance.

Guest shearfox Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 Anyone notice that we have the two Full Backs that helped Fulham to the UEFA Cup Final & 7th in the league.... Seems like we have a premier league back line.

Libertine Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 Bye bye Tunch. Bye bye Sol. Because we've signed a RB?
Jonezy Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 Another Premier League experienced full-back with a Frank Sinclair-isque ability of scoring own goals. I'll have that to compete with an inexperienced and talented youngster. Solid signing.
psychonaut Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 We now have a Premiership defence. Konchesky Tunchev/St Ledger Mills Pantsil
Libertine Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 Hope we get an exciting forward (alongside a striker) eventually. Think the defence will be a lot better but the FBs might not be as full on attacking as Naughton/PVA.
MGLCFC Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 As far as I can make out Sven now has his two defenders for each position RB Pantsill and Peltier LB Ball/Berner and Konchesky CH Mills, St Ledger, Bamba and Tunchev So I'm not certain why this denotes the end of Tunchev?

People seem to forget you need cover not every player is going to play every game.
