Long gets through a huge amount of work on the wings, I don't know the facts but would imagine he had quite a few assists to his name last season. It would have been a hell of a lot more if we had anyone that could latch onto nearly every flick on that he wins.

Viles Posted 4 August 2011 Posted 4 August 2011 Did u ever play him on the wing.? No, never. He'd be wasted on the wing, works best centrally then drifting to the flanks on the counter creating space for others.

As I'm sure you are aware, our game relies on counter attacking and Longs pace would often see him get the ball to feet out wide and often sail past the full back. Luckily we had the likes of Kebe that could keep up with him.

Lets hope we can get Long, Jong and anyone else because given Vassell's on the pitch time his record is appalling When vassel played down the middle he created a lot of space by peeling of the last man and running the channels. he looked a lot more effective in my opinion.

I think he will have an important role in the squad this year. I am aware that he scores pretty infrequently, but he is by no means a wasted position in the 11. Sven would agree. He would also agree that Darius alone Isn't enough, hence the chase for another striker.
