DJ Barry Hammond Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 West Brom are alright. Woy Hodgson is a good manager and I can see them making progress. Its a good move for Shane Long, you can't begrudge him that. he'd play regularly and probably do very well. I've heard he's feeling
JIMMYWILLIS Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Wba have probably triggered a clause about automatic acceptance of bids over xmillion from a premier league club. As we are not premier they could hold us to ransom. Doubt the clause covered "any" bids as not many players move in the same league for large fees
MikeyT Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 SSN: Speculation: Reports are claiming that West Bromwich Albion are close to agreeing a fee between £6million and £7m for Reading striker Shane Long. The Baggies reportedly met with Long's advisors over the weekend, with the Republic of Ireland international in line to become the Premier League club's record signing.
Big Dave Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Still think there is a little way to go on this. Long is currently away on international duty.....

bluearmyfox23 Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Carnt see us signing long now unless we Offer him Megga bucks !!
Big Dave Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 We agreed a fee for CMS, but it didn't come off. Personal terms still need to ba agreed. Don't think it will be too quick as he is away at the moment. Having a bid accepted does not mean it is a done deal! Hope he doesn't go to West Brom, think he would be great for us.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 it was always a Long shot i suppose . . . . . . . . .signing errrrm Long
Filthy Fox Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 really disappointed with this, shane long is the missing link we need, svens not having much luck at the moment with the striker situation is he
Itsthejoeker Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Now we need to really flex out financial muscle, if we want to steal him from under west broms noses a high wage packet will need to be offered.
blueredswed Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 really disappointed with this, shane long is the missing link we need, svens not having much luck at the moment with the striker situation is he Just wait and see Lot of good strikers in the world and not necessary 6 millions englist sterling

Bryn Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 whatever happened to Craig Short? That could be a whole new thread. Whatever happened to........................? Managed Ferencvaros, /wasn't he then in charge at Notts Co.?
Callabinho Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Now we need to really flex out financial muscle, if we want to steal him from under west broms noses a high wage packet will need to be offered. Unless we offer £10 mill it won't happen, as I've said McDermott loves Long and wants him in the prem, mejewski probably thinks the same thing, if you think about it yes they would loose out on the extra £1million from us however he will not be with a rival therefore won't affect them, we have to move on and look elsewhere.

Say Nicky Maynard doesn't join us then he are we looking at? The Jong, Robbie Keane or a prem striker on loan?
bluearmyfox23 Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Tbh once we get 1 striker I think we might get 1-2 more straight after and send waggy and schlupp out loan to champ clubs
Filthy Fox Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 really disappointed with this, shane long is the missing link we need, svens not having much luck at the moment with the striker situation is he very true, and maybe we should be looking in other leagues and not trying to pry away 1st team strikers from our rivals?
