LestaFox92 Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 I actually really don't want long not because i don't think he aint good enough i just aint impressed and don't rate him high as 8 million not matter if he's for sale or not simple as that's just a no go for me !

Put it this way say West Ham got him and we got a mediocre striker, money is nothing to our owners, if Sven wants him we will get him
Hack Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 I actually think there is more to the raid on a PL team for a striker for 8.5 mil than this story. Could be wrong, but I have a feeling this is just fishing by some hack (to use a pun on my name) journo's.

Have you seen him play or did you watch the youtube vid and think Maynards was better? I ask just because that's pretty much what I took from the vids!
Ric Flair Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Couldn't give a monkeys chuff how much we pay, people need to realise that money appears to be no object for us. Just be happy we're assembling a quality side. Shane Long is as good as Kevin Doyle in my opinion and they got about £7.5 million for him.
Lambert09 Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 5mill plus waghorn and I'd be happy, they would have an instant replacement, everyones happy

I've never really rated him before last season. I'm pretty sure when other players were at Reading, such as Doyle, Long only used to get a hand full of goals. Anyway, he proved himself last season by scoring alot. Still, having watched him last season on TV a few times when Reading were playing, he seems to not be do much but always score. He is very fast as well, I think it was Long who turned Bamba at Reading away last season for a goal. I wouldn't pay £8million for him though, however, if the club want him, then I wouldn't reject him either.

I ask just because that's pretty much what I took from the vids! Yeah pretty much watched him in the play off final aswel and he missed an absolute sitter plus it looks like he got carried away with sticking grapes up his nose i really just don't like the vibe he has think he'd be a major flop for 8mill

LestaFox92 Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 It isn't your money so chill, I don't think he will be a flop, even if he was flop I still think he would score 20 goals Your probley right mate i mean i've never seen him play live or owt obviously must have done something right to get a 8 mill price tag slapped on him just like i said don't have a good feeling about him just one of those wierd one's yanoe
LestaFox92 Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Question is, on a pushunometer how does he score? That's one thing i saw him do in the play off final run so i do think most of our HUME! fans would love him.
Happy Fox Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 I'd rather spend £8m on Readings scouting system!! we will do
Nick Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 I'd rather spend £8m on Readings scouting system!! True story.
Ric Flair Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 I'd rather spend £8m on Readings scouting system!! Incredible ain't it? Doyle, Hunt, that Icelandic lad, Mills, Kebe and Long. All bought for a combined total of about £3 million and £2 mill of that was Mills
Happy Fox Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 According to West Ham ITK Gruesome Dump we are willing to pay more money up front for Shane Long, but are also interested in signing John Carew http://www.kumb.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=131371&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=12960 From Gruesome Dump on the transfer of Shane Long - No he hasn't. Unlikely to now. We can't compete with the Leicester offer (cash up front). They have also made an apparently "unbelievable" offer for Carew. Presumably waiting for one or the other to come off. Today we made a bid for another striker, so far unenmtioned/unlinked.
Guest Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Enough with the he's not worth £?m in every thread. If that's your pathetic attitude then we'll buy no-one. A player is worth whatever you can get for him at a particular time. Pay or don't have. I'm sure all those complaining that we shouldn't pay £8m for long and we shouldn't pay £5m for Maynard and we shouldn't pay £1m for Evans will complain even more if we don't buy a striker.
JJS84 Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Think we've got to enjoy this ride while it lasts! It's not our money, let the owners spend what they want. I said we buy both Maynard & Long for 13 million! Would be fan - flippin - tastic!

Edit: Though he is 32 in September and has a dodgy back - Well, he did at Stoke last season........
