Callabinho Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 Can't actually believe that some of your fans are ridicouling the ref, he sent our player off for something that probably wasn't even a booking, first half we were the better side. Second half was more even with you shading it, close game with not a lot in it. Good finish by Peltier and Fernandes was superb. Good luck for the season. They were both rash challenges, If Vas went your boy had to, You look better than you did last year and I don't think you will go down. But the ref did have a shocker.
Bryn Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 Anyone who went today wanna give us a run down on the Coventry kids that played? 5Live were impressed by them.
George Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 They were both rash challenges, If Vas went your boy had to, You look better than you did last year and I don't think you will go down. But the ref did have a shocker. Vassell flew in from about 15 yards and nearly took our players leg off. Baker tripped Wellens from behind, your players/ fans reactions got him sent off, if it was down the other end of the pitch and not infront of your fans he wouldn't of gone. How Bamba got away without a booking was criminal aswell, he was screaming in the refs face for about a minute. Mills looked shaky for you, thought Jutkiewiecz give him the run around. You need a striker, Nugent was dire.

MikeyT Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 Comments from Cov fans on their forum. As we all know, their players were angels during the match. They seem to like the term "willy puller". Ha "dirty cheating fester bastards....shouldnt even be in existance.............grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr " "send that willy puller wellens off the ****" "come on score !!!! shut the fester scum up !!! Sick of them cheating wankers". "another willy puller gets away with it ". "Wankers, **** sake".
Sutty Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 Cov fan in peace. That was a much closer game than I was expecting to be honest. On that performance, I'd say play-offs is a reasonable expectation for you. It will be interesting to see how much your performances improve as the team gels. It was a game with good passing football from both sides, but neither team really created many chances. Neither Kasper or Murphy made any saves of note. The difference between the sides was you got a couple of good crosses in, which we didn't manage to do. As for the red cards, Vassell's was a shocking tackle. I don't think it was malicious (don't see him as that kind of player), but it was high, late and out of control. Ours was less clear-cut, again it was out of control from Baker, but I didn't see it as a dangerous tackle like Vassell's was. Still it was a stupid tackle to make because we were well on top while it was 11 v 10 and Wellens was going nowhere with the ball. On another note, Wellens' play-acting was embarrassing. Absolutely furious with him, but as I say, Baker shouldn't have been even offering the chance for Wellens to do that. Fernandes looks a class act for you, but as I say I think you still need someone to create chances. Also, some of your players really need to be more disciplined. Mills, Fernandes and Wellens all lost their cool over nothing incidents. Even though at no point did they throw punches/ attempt headbutts, it only takes a referee to mis-interpret the situation and you'd have had a really stupid sending-off on your hands. All in all, I've come away from that fairly optimistic. We had 2 academy kids playing who acquitted themselves extremely well against some very good players, but we do need someone to add some incisiveness. Best of luck for the season ahead fellas.

Agree with all of that, was a close game which was either going to be a draw or settled by a goal from a set piece which it was.

21st Century Fox Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 Gelson and his invisible penis. This guy looks like a legend in the making.
George Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 I love Mills already Ovbiously weren't there today, he was your worst player.
MikeyT Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 Gelson and his invisible penis. This guy looks like a legend in the making. Bit small.
Bryn Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 Gelson and his invisible penis. This guy looks like a legend in the making. How the **** did he rip his collar?
Stevosevic Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 Ovbiously weren't there today, he was your worst player. I didn't go, but it didnt sound that way on 5live. They made it seem like Abe was our worst player.
Sutty Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 Yeah, Bamba was better than Mills for you today. Jutkiewicz was a real handful and had the better of one or the other, but he was so isolated that we couldn't ever make use of it.
lcfcsnow Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 I didn't go, but it didnt sound that way on 5live. They made it seem like Abe was our worst player. Abe did a decent job in midfield and at right back after Peltier went off. Desperate need for a striker. Nugent had a few good chances but clearly not a lone striker. Can't praise Fernandes enough one of the best debuts in recent times, even if it was against Cov.
topharry123 Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 Great result. All the new faces seemed to put in a great shift, particularly impressed with schmeichel, peltier and fernandes. Great game from Wellens as well. It took us till the 6th game last year for our first win and to pass 3 points so let's keep it going !
MikeyT Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 realmattmills5 Millsy On the team coach back to leicester with 3 points in my back pocket :-) happy days - fans were ledge today thank you
21st Century Fox Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 Based solely on todays performance I get the feeling that Fernandes could be the difference in some tough games this season.
yorkie1999 Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 Abe was a bit out of the game till he got moved to right to cover for peltier after he got injured. Cov player? slid into him after the ball had gone. vassels sending off looked a 50 50 ball with both players sliding in but vassel had his studs showing. To be honest cov looked clueless after their player got sent off and their goalie looked a right mardy git towards the end. I'd like to see galagher played as a striker along with nugent.
Maybes Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 The views and opinions of some people in here are laughable.
