Raw Dykes Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 Kasper Pantsil Mills - I would seriously consider giving St Ledger a chance after Saturday's woeful display. Bamba Konchesky Wellens Fernandes Johnson - I'd agree, but I doubt he's fit enough to start yet, play King here. King - Isn't so effective so high up the pitch. Since Vassell's suspended, play Dyer here. Nugent Gallagher
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 St ledger in for mills, if Sven is serious about having two strong players for each position, he should be dropped and st ledger given his chance. Fernendez, wellens and king in the middle. With gallagher, dyer and nugent the front three. We lacked width against Reading, which was a shame as we could of used schlupps pace against andy griffin. . Are you totally crazy?. Drop our captain, after one bad result. That is a bloody wonderful idea, and is really going to improve our confidence. As my old teacher used to say, "the world is full of nit-wits, who cannot see a yard in front of them". You surely do fit the bill. My view? You are a total plank, and your type of thinking will get us relegated. Wake up, and wise up, and stop being a total moron.
Raw Dykes Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 Kasper Pelts (if fit) / Pantsil Bamba Mills Konchesky Fernandes Wellens King Gallagher Dyer Nugent Weale St.Ledger Danns Schlupp Oakley Exactly this! Except I might drop Mills for St Ledger, and pick Johnson or Abe over Oakley, depending on fitness.
brockmyster Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 I wouldnt mind seeing gallagher dyer and nugent as the front three with danns in the midfield alongside fernandes and either wellens or abe
RowlattsFox Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 Kasper Peltier (if fit) Mills Bamba Konchesky Danns Fernandes King Gallagher Nugent Schlupp Subs: Weale, St Ledger, Wellens, Dyer, Waghorn I think until we sign a striker who can play on his own in a 3 then we need play 2 up front. Not really keen on starting Schlupp but noone else deserves to start with Nugent so it has to be him. Looking for a response from some players after Saturday.
Brooksy Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 Looking at their forums they all want their manager out already. 0-1 Maynard.

Danns isn't really a winger/wide midfielder. I really think it's a bad idea to rely on Schlupp to keep starting for us. We could try Gally alongside Nugent in a front 2, or Gally just behind Nugent. If we are to play 4-4-2, or 4-4-1-1, we should stick Dyer on the wing, and put Schlupp on the bench. We simply don't have enough true wide players for a standard 4-4-2, but we have central midfielders in abundance, so we should be looking to use formations that use 3 or 4 CMs well. I know it is possible. There are plenty of teams that do this effectively, and I know that with our selection of midfielders, there has to be a tactic that suits them. It's Sven's job to make this happen. I hope he finds it sooner rather than later.
Jimmy Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 would it be worth having Bamba as the holding midfielder and starting SSL alongside Mills
Raw Dykes Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 would it be worth having Bamba as the holding midfielder and starting SSL alongside Mills I don't see the need to play Bamba out of position when we have so many central midfielders already. Bamba was our best defender by far against Reading, so to take him out of defence would be madness if you ask me.

Bamba was an outstanding holding midfielder at Hibs apparently, better at that than at CB so they say. By the way, not saying we should play Bamba at DM as Fernandes/Abe will play there
Joe. Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 Why on earth would we play Bamba in midfield when we have Abe and Fernandes?
Guest Col city fan Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 Anything less than a win on Wednesday and the shit will hit the fan. As it should... We spent tons of dosh on good players... Brizzle are shite... We will win on weds anyway...

Yeah I see you're point, like you say we don't have the wingers to play 4-4-2 but I think Danns is most likely to do a job there. I also think its slighty different playing the wide role in a 4-4-2 and doing it in a 4-3-3 which Danns has done so far. With only 2 centre midfielders Danns can become narrower at times without getting in the way as much and he also has a bit pace about him. Never been a fan of Gallagher upfront, but it could work with him in the hole aslong as we play the right way. I think with Gally and Nugent up front, we may be short of players in the box because both like to do their work outside or on the flanks. At least Schlupp shows some instinct to get in the box.
Guest Bilo Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 I hate to say this at such an early stage, but if we don't win this one I will start to worry. They've shipped six in two games and their best player can't wait to leave the place, possibly for us. Confidence is low and the fans are already turning against their manager this season with the defence little short a shambles. 2-0 to us with Nugent making it third time lucky and Gallagher being restored to the line-up with a goal.

Schlupp was wasted out wide on saturday. He made more of an impact when he moved to playing down the middle. Sven could always swap, Schlupp with Dyer and move Nugent to the 'wing' and play Schlupp up front from about 70 minutes onwards.

WE WILL BEAT BRIZZLE 3 0 AND EVERYTHING WILL BE ALL OK BY BED TIME WEDNESDAY NIGHT :) :) :) :) :)

Bert Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 would it be worth having Bamba as the holding midfielder and starting SSL alongside Mills Good plan. Why on earth would it pay to move Bamba when he's been the best defender for us in both league games? Nonsense.
themotivator Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 Kasper Pantsilinho - Bamba - Mills - PaulFernandesDanns - WellensNugent/Gally - (new striker) - Schlupp/dyer. To be honest, when selecting this it has made it even more obvious we need at least one new forward. I wouldn't object to King or Abe playing instead of wellens or danns. would like to see fernandes as holding mid though and i don't think mills should be dropped just yet.
