Where is Some Mothers Do Ave Em? or Get Some In?

Anyway, Fawlty Towers. Its my favourite and I find it the funniest.

I do like a lot of them mentioned though. I collect comedy DVDs and have a lot at home; The Good Life, Fawlty Towers, Only Fools, My Family, Mr Bean, Some Mothers Do Ave Em etc etc. Brilliant.

Out of the list I'd say Only Fools and Horses and for me it's not even close.

Incidentally you've missed off three of my favourite comedy series ever, The Office, I'm Alan Partridge and Phoenix nights. All absolutely brilliant.

There is so many I like but if I had to choose it would be only Fools and Horses. It was well written and well acted. It had many funny moments and serious moments. The characters were shown as human despite getting into situtions. Del boy especially when he had heart to heat convos with Rodney.

Close second Fawlty Towers with John Cleese showing that there can be a character that you love to hate. Open all Hours, good acting Blackadder and one that I can't see on the list Monty Python although most of those listed are sit-coms not sketch or variety shows. They seemed a lot better a few years ago. The writers are restricted more with the content subject . I liked the risque ones like Monty Python, Q9 etc. One of the best ones now is Outnumbered. It seems so natual. I believe that a lot of it is unscripted and they let the kids play themselves with Les Dennis and Zoey Wanemaker (?) ad-libbing their responses. They look lost for words sometimes.

Hands down... The Office. But also the Royal Family is genius. Also Extras as well as The Inbetweeners. But comedy is very much a personal thing... very hard to be anything other than biased towards your own personal preference.

Poor poor list. We're not all in our 50s.

I'm 19 and I'd say it's difficult to choose between Allo, Allo, Only Fools and Horses, Fawlty Towers, Dad's Army and Blackadder.

Probably Allo, Allo...

I think the most recent thing in that list is Bottom, which started in 1993. Is everything else on it pre-1990?

Comedy dates even more than other genres, I find. I loved Blackadder when it was on originally (all but the first series anyway) but I was watching some the other day and it seemed a bit tired, but whether that's because I've seen it loads of times or because I just find different stuff funny now, I'm not sure.

When I was much, much younger, we used to get incredibly excited about 'The Young Ones', which was seen as being really subversive and completely hilarious, and you still see look-back-bore programmes where people my age sit about saying how brilliant it is. Watch it now though and it's utter shit - painful, in fact

Comedy now is nothing compared to what it was in the past.

You're probably right , maybe everyone is too scared of offending anyone , or maybe it's just an over exposure to most comedy situations and it's just too hard to be original

I always used to like the Likely Lads , but if I watched it now it would probably seem crap .

Fawlty Towers and Blackadder , were good in their time and probably my favourites from that list.

"Some Mothers do 'ave 'em" was also pretty good in it's time but probably seems a bit silly now
