Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 23 August 2011 Posted 23 August 2011 Bloody hard work. Surprised we arent playing more of the first team together with "needing to gel". 'Players needing to gel' is cliched bullshit. Not having a go at the poster, just the excuse that's given, by managers of other sides as well as Sven and us. Five days a week training together and you can't 'gel?' Give me a fucking break. To add, I'm not a boo-er nor a happy-clapper. Just someone who's fed up of excuses for anything when a team doesn't perform. Just admit, that, when we lose, we deserve to because on the day we were gash. GASH. At the minute we have a good side that aren't performing (in the league). Not completing basic three yard, on the deck passes is unacceptable. It isn't because players haven't 'gelled.' What a crap excuse. Pleased to see us bagging a few tonight though, even if it was against Bury. Lets keep this up.
MC Prussian Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 It's not just the win, it's the fact that we fought back from being 2-1 down that has me happy. These cup games are an ideal training ground for so-called "fringe" players and with our current depth in squad, I think we can go places in the domestic competitions. Would love to see the highlights at one point. Biggest plus tonight - result aside - was the (once again) tremendous support from our fans. Going up to the North of Manchester on a Tuesday night and making up a third of the crowd is fantastic. Well done to the 1'000+ who made it to the game!
ajthefox Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 Got back about about half hour ago, many positives to take from this but there are negatives too. We played well early on and the first goal from Schlupp showed his potential. He could have had another not long after and it would of comepletely changed the game, but I don't think he was aware of quite how much time he had. We threatened and Bury didn't really challenge Weale but they did get forward on occasion and after a bit of a scramble they got one back. Should have been cleared but obviously wasn't and it took us by surprise a little and set us back. Don't think Weale could've done anything about the goal. Second half we came out a little slow, and after Bury scored their free kick, which was a decent goal (maybe Weale could've done more I'm not too sure) we were all over the place and it genuinely felt like we were heading for an upset. We invited Bury onto us by not applying pressure but did eventually start to attack a little more, and fortunately Gallagher scored a good free kick (thats all he did though). Then with a little encouragement we started playing confidently and were too good for Bury. Dyer scored a very good solo goal and then as Bury tried to get back level we carved them right open with a brilliant team goal to end the game. It was a very up and down match we were quite poor for a good spell, but I think we should focus on the positives. We created a lot of chances, scored 4 very good goals, and there were some strong performances from players who will be pushing for more time. Oh and the support tonight was quality, was proud to be stood in the stands tonight and was well worth the journey.

ajthefox Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 I thought he played quite well. He was a little quiet at times but he got stuck in passed the ball well.
dave_the_fox Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 How the fxxx do they know about Bernie! Not that bernie pal!
bluesbrothers Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 Well, a team gagging for a "20 goal" man has scored 12 in 6 games. Sure, two of those matches came against lowlier opposition, but I still think the desperation for a new striker is way overblown. With the right service, Nugent and perhaps Schlupp are the men to bag us goals.
J.Lisemore Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 Who's the willy puller, who's the willy puller, who's the willy puller in the hat! Gotta love Efe Sodje.
J.Lisemore Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 Gallagher - 1 goal and 3 assists (according to the BBC live text) Pushing for a start. I'd have to think twice if I were Sven, he really wasn't that good last night.

stockyfox Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 First and foremost, the support for us last night wasabsolutely fantastic. Living in Stockport made this a kind of 'home game' forme - almost as good as it gets. After all, it was at Bury, midweek, 2nd roundCarling Cup match, no trains back to Leicester but although Bury fans filledthe North Stand plus some behind the goal, foxes fans filled the South Stand,so much so, we really could have been ‘at home’. It was certainly appreciated by the players and overallplayed a major part in inspiring them to achieve the ultimate result. Having read through all the posts to date, it was up tomy friend MC Prussian to particularly comment on the support of the fans. Thenext post by ajthefox is also an excellent and very fair summary of the game. On the bus, tram and train afterwards, I travelled withBury fans, all of whom had enjoyed the game, acknowledged that Leicester werequicker to the ball. They were proud of their display but they could nowconcentrate on the league and Charlton next match. Yes we played well and the win was welcome but Bury hadtheir moments and their second goal had been on the cards for several minutesbeforehand. Indeed, I had some sympathy for Bury and although Neil Danns superbgoal was the icing on the cake, I thought the final result slightly flatteredLeicester considering how well Bury played.
isaidno Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 Who's the willy puller, who's the willy puller, who's the willy puller in the hat! Gotta love Efe Sodje. Loved that chant, he brought it on himself by goading us. The more we chanted, the worst he played I thought we played well in patches last night. Started the game well, Schlupp and Dyer causing them problems. We gave them a really sloppy goal, had several chances to clear the ball.Didn't start playing in the second half till Gallagher scored. Dyer was probably our best player, The food there was stupidly priced. £6.20 for a pack of crisps, a sausage roll, and a bottle of water
themotivator Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 Sodje wow, that is brilliant. cant understand how i've never noticed his outrageous headwear before. what a hero!
