@mrtonycox Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 Was worried when saw the score at 2-1 on me phone, felt much better when the next quick goals went in during the later stages.. I hope we get a big team, Man City last year was fun and a glimpse of the future.
mancunianfox Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 No, but when he was dribbling he looked rapid Probably just me being a retard. I thought he changed the game for us tbh. I wouldn't go as far as to describe him as rapid but he was getting the ball and running through the middle of the pitch with it.
Tommy G Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 Any idea on where Johnson was? Not in the squad let alone team? I think wkd and rustlers prediction must have been right
Father Ted Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 Heskey's goal at 2:50 reminds me of Schlupp's goal last night.
Bettsy82 Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 How did Moussa get on tonight mate? Moussa was pinging balls everywhere never knew he had that in his locker.
Bettsy82 Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 wow, that is brilliant. cant understand how i've never noticed his outrageous headwear before. what a hero! This guy got hammered last night !
Ric Flair Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 Heskey's goal at 2:50 reminds me of Schlupp's goal last night. I never knew that game was on youtube, fookin brilliant. Anyone who cut straight to 2 minutes 50 and didn't watch the whole lot of that is a trump knocker. I can't help but want to curl up in a ball with the quilt over me when I think of the glory days, I wish I was 15 again. Schlupp reminds me a bit of Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink in how he runs and unleashes shots, I wouldn't mind it if he became as good as he was either. Star in the making.
Simo86 Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 Heskey's goal at 2:50 reminds me of Schlupp's goal last night. Izzet's goal is absolutely quality!
Brown Fox Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 Anyone have any highlights of the game yesterday?

I subscribed to the person who put this up and the other night he posted like 10 or so wins from the 98/99 season! That was the first City side I remember

Guest Bilo Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 Wow. The memories of that night are sending shivers down my spine. The sea of Don't Go Martin placards on all three home sides looked absolutely stunning from the Kop that night, myself as a 14 year old holding one up proudly. The atmosphere was staggering, something about evening kick-offs at Filbert Street that was so special and I can't imagine anyone fancying a midweek trip to Filbert Street in those days very much. You name the big club, they came to Filbert Street and went away knowing they'd been in a game played in a proper atmosphere. That night though was something else, only the last 10 minutes of the famous 3-3 draw with Arsenal a year earlier comes close. Many thought this was the last game that MON would manage at Filbert Street, for many it was goodbye. European football, an established Premiership side and massively increased prestige were his legacy. Little did we know that the welcome we gave him as the Post Horn Gallop sounded would ultimately lead him to turn down Leeds and stay for another two seasons. He knew he was idolised, the massive backlash incurred after a horrible 2-0 home defeat to Sheffield United in his first season in Division One now a distant and unpleasant memory. Great days.
themotivator Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 Heskey's goal at 2:50 reminds me of Schlupp's goal last night. 2:50... DAT TURN
Corky Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 Heskey's goal has been overshadowed, understandably, by Muzzy's, but what a finish after leaving the defender trailing.
Guest MattP Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 Heskey's goal at 2:50 reminds me of Schlupp's goal last night. Memories......what a night that was.

Was a gorgeous finish, up there with the goal he created from a flick against Man United. Izzet's goal the same name night though was sexual though.

People forget how good Heskey was for us, its a shame a succession of managers after us totally ruined him by turning him into a battering ram rather than filling his head with how good he was and what he could actually do.

It was, Heskey really looked like he could do it all at that point. I think Paul Scholes missed a highly contentious penalty for them as well if memory serves. On your second point, I think Heskey was almost a victim of his own physique as successive manager coached a lot of the more technical aspects of his game, so apparent for us, out of his game and he never really fulfilled his potential. The Heskey for us was quick, strong, comfortable on the ball and could score for fun. With better coaching, he could have gone on to be a great goalscorer at club and international level.
