Absolutely, although I think the Europa has really distracted them, so much so that they are going to have to win it if they want to qualify again at this rate!
Corky Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 Athletic Bilbao who outplayed Man utd twice are currently 9th....pretty strong league methinks. I wonder if sundertland could outplay real madrid or Barcelona. Easily. Cattermole will dominate Iniesta any day.
SpanishFanLCFC Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 In other La Liga news: At the bottom of the table, Real Zaragoza are slowly finding a way out of the relegation zone... Yes, three games unbeaten, against Osasuna 1-1 Osasuna socred in the last minute, then 1-2 against Valencia, 1 shoot, two goals for my team and yesterday 1-0 against Atl Madrid, with penalty goal in the last second, and we achieved the same points in 6 games as in the rest of the season, next Saturday a battle against Sporting de Gijón away, if we win we'll keep on the fight to be on the first division, but if we defeat... the next game is against Barcelona at home so difficult.

The result at Valencia was absolutely incredible considering they went down to ten men in the first half. Glad Real have slipped up a couple of times, makes the league very interesting from now and the game at the Camp Nou becomes huge.
Darkon84 Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 Cant beleive no-one has mentioned that Ronaldo has become the fastest player to 100 goals in La Liga history. Bloody Messi bum boys, the lot of ya! haha. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17502825 Cristiano Ronaldo is fastest La Liga player to 100 goals Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo has become the fastest player to reach 100 goals in Spanish league history. The Portuguese scored twice as Real bounced back from consecutive draws with a 5-1 thrashing of Real Sociedad. In reaching 101 goals in 92 games, Ronaldo surpassed Real legend Ferenc Puskas, who scored 100 in 105 games. LA LIGA TOP SCORERS 35 Lionel Messi (Barcelona) & Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid) 19 Radamel Falcao (Atletico Madrid) 18 Gonzalo Higuain (Real Madrid) 16 Karim Benzema (Real Madrid) 15 Roberto Soldado (Valencia) Ronaldo's 35th league goal of the season took him level with Lionel Messi, who scored in Barcelona's 2-0 win at Mallorca. Both players are closing in on Ronaldo's own record of 40 league goals in a single campaign, set last season. Messi, who became Barca's all-time top-scorer on Tuesday, now has 55 goals in all competitions this season and 18 in his last nine games. With nine games of the season remaining, leaders Real have 75 points and Barca 69. The two sides meet at the Nou Camp on 22 April. Meanwhile, Karim Benzema's two goals against Sociedad saw him surpass Zinedine Zidane as the top scoring Frenchman in La Liga. The 24-year-old has now scored 39 goals in 84 league games.

Yes, it was incredible, a penalty and a shoot and it was goal, we finished the game with 9 players, Zuculini (75') and Pablo Alvarez (20') out by red card
accessory Posted 28 March 2012 Posted 28 March 2012 Cant beleive no-one has mentioned that Ronaldo has become the fastest player to 100 goals in La Liga history. Bloody Messi bum boys, the lot of ya! haha. Spanish law decrees that refs give at least one penalty per game to the home side at the Bernebeu. Is it any wonder Ronaldo's so prolific?
SpanishFanLCFC Posted 31 March 2012 Posted 31 March 2012 Yeeees!!!! Sporting de Gijón 1 Real Zaragoza 2, Lafita on the 90 minute, incredible again a goal on the add time, after 17 games on the last place, now we are at the 18 place, only 3 points to keep on the first division.
accessory Posted 8 April 2012 Posted 8 April 2012 Messi scored his SIXTIETH goal of the season for Barca last night. He's also got 25 assists. It was a nice touch last night for him to spurn the chance of yet another hat-trick by setting up Pedro, who had previously endured an even worse goal drought than Fernando Torres.
SpanishFanLCFC Posted 8 April 2012 Posted 8 April 2012 The referee of the last night game between Real Zaragoza and Barsa was terrible, the result does not reflect what was the game, as the zaragoza deserved not to lose and less by 1-4
accessory Posted 8 April 2012 Posted 8 April 2012 It wasn't the ref's fault you missed the penalty, or that Barca were handed the equaliser on a plate. But I will admit 4-1 was a slightly harsh scoreline. At the moment Valencia are holding Real Madrid at the Bernabeu. A draw tonight could make the title race really interesting..
accessory Posted 8 April 2012 Posted 8 April 2012 It finished 0-0. A Barca win on Tuesday will cut the gap to ONE point. Could the "special one" end the season without a trophy?
shen Posted 8 April 2012 Posted 8 April 2012 It finished 0-0. A Barca win on Tuesday will cut the gap to ONE point. Could the "special one" end the season without a trophy? It was one of the most exciting 0-0's I've ever seen. Amazing that it stayed goalless! Wouldn't be surprised if Real go on to lose at Camp Nou, yet win the Championship by that one point
accessory Posted 8 April 2012 Posted 8 April 2012 Their next game is away to Atletico, and they also still have to visit Bilbao. Plenty more opportunities to drop points there..
Darkon84 Posted 12 April 2012 Posted 12 April 2012 Real came through unscathed against Atletico, with Ronaldo scoring his 6th hat trick of the season, including two wonder strikes, taking his total to 52 (I think) for the season. As for Atletico, Falcao scored again and I'm sure there were plenty of managers around the continent taking note again.
accessory Posted 14 April 2012 Posted 14 April 2012 Two more goals for Messi last night, taking his Barca total to 63 for the season. Looking forward to seeing him own Madrid AGAIN next week..
Haydos Posted 21 April 2012 Posted 21 April 2012 3 in the last 4 El Clasicos for Ronaldo. Bet he still can't shake off the 'not a big game player' rubbish. Kinda wish Barca had nicked this one, set up a tight finish.
Bert Posted 21 April 2012 Posted 21 April 2012 Two more goals for Messi last night, taking his Barca total to 63 for the season. Looking forward to seeing him own Madrid AGAIN next week..
marko Posted 21 April 2012 Posted 21 April 2012 Deserved 2-1 victory in my eyes. Personally thought Barca and in particular Messi were disappointing. Mind you, I hope he gets his eye in for Tuesday night.
ScouseFox Posted 21 April 2012 Posted 21 April 2012 Without the goals and assists of Ronaldo and Messi in La Liga, Real Madrid would still be 1st and Barça would be 6th. Interesting stat.
AjcW Posted 21 April 2012 Author Posted 21 April 2012 Very well played this evening Real. Chelsea on Wednesday remembered how they used to play under mourinho and won and this evening, strangely, mourinho threw all his beliefs out the window and sent out a team fully intent on winning. Credit to them for the fact that for once a madrid team turned up to the Nou Camp and attacked from the kick off. Still.... cant win it every season have to give the dirty madrilians a chance occasionally .
