Kilworthfox Posted 16 September 2011 Posted 16 September 2011 Anyone would think that Leicester City is some fourth rate Football club the way they have just reported. We have just had Forest on for a good 7 minutes, & they are playing Derby tomorrow who seem only worthy of a minutes coverage. Surely it should be 50/50 coverage? Does the BBC budget not stretch to send a reporter to Derby to hear their fans views because we got 3 Forest fans, but no Derby. The reporters are completely biased towards Forest aswell & the language they use when describing any other East Midlands club other than Forest is condescending! Leicester City tonight were worthy of 30 seconds when we are welcolming top of the table Brighton. Is the lanky tosser Colin? He said "You could be forgiven for forgeting about Leicester City's fixture this weekend with the Forest, Derby excitement, but..." I appreciate that a derby game is a fixture which will be looked forward too more than ours this weekend, but the whole sports section was a disgrace IMO! I am a huge fan of any team playing against Tigers , but they only got a sentance, not even any video & they are the most supported Rugby club in the country playing the 2nd most popular sport! The BBC local sports reporting on BBC1 has always had a Forest bias, makes sence seeing as the BBC east midlands is based in Nottingham & they are the biggest club in that city! But it's East Midlands News & Sport not Nottingham, & it's the BBC!!!!! A public broadcaster, not a Nottingham private enterprise. Once again, cleary illustrated tonight Leicester & Derby have got the thin edge of the wedge for coverage on Football & general sport. Grumply yours... <_<
Mack Posted 16 September 2011 Posted 16 September 2011 Notts Police nicked a load of toe rags ahead of tomorrow's game. Add to that the biggest East Midlands Derby on tomorrow and it's a double story just down the road from their HQ. To be fair to them over the course of the season they cover all the teams pretty evenly. Granted it's not always the best coverage.
Kitchandro Posted 16 September 2011 Posted 16 September 2011 You could be forgiven for forgeting about Leicester City's fixture this weekend with the Forest, Derby excitement, but... Saying this is pretty poor, he needs to remember who the target audience is. The people of Leicester aren't going to be thinking 'Ooh, thanks for reminding me that Leicester were playing this weekend Colin, I would have forgotten to go otherwise, being caught up with the excitement of the biggest game in the world ever and all'. Usually thought tbf I think they give us more coverage than the rest, for obvious reasons.
Guest Col city fan Posted 16 September 2011 Posted 16 September 2011 Oi shut up with all this 'Colin' malarky! Its making me feel very paranoid....
gazfox9 Posted 16 September 2011 Posted 16 September 2011 Just don't watch it, at least you won't have to put up with the huge konked ginger bird!
Guest Col city fan Posted 16 September 2011 Posted 16 September 2011 Just don't watch it, at least you won't have to put up with the huge konked ginger bird! She does have a right hooter on her to be fair

somebum Posted 16 September 2011 Posted 16 September 2011 Perhaps that was the case tonight, but on other nights I have been watching, I have seen Leicester get the majority of coverage and Derby and Notts get very little. Either way it's a relief to hear something other than bloody Bomberdier

Either way it's a relief to hear something other than bloody Bomberdier I'd say you're about right there. People are satisfied when we're the main article (as long as it's only positive) but anything less and the news company is a disgrace and never shows us.
foxoffderby Posted 16 September 2011 Posted 16 September 2011 Ive always thought that it goes Forest Derby Leicester County in that order for airtime always has been for some reason. Its nothing new.
Collymore Posted 16 September 2011 Posted 16 September 2011 Leicester also get coverage from central for the westerners in the Hinckley area and viewers served by Sutton cofield, not sure how many other teams are covered by two regions but I'd imagine it's pretty rare so that could be something to do with it. Saying that, Ive always thought we've had good coverage on EMT.
StarFox Posted 16 September 2011 Posted 16 September 2011 It's making things fair as we'll dominate sports news coverage when we succeed in getting promoted later on in the season.
Yojoe36 Posted 16 September 2011 Posted 16 September 2011 Fu** the BBC. Utter sh**e, and I have to pay for it. Ahhhhh :frusty:
fleckneymike Posted 16 September 2011 Posted 16 September 2011 EMT has always been pro Forest. We are very, very poor relations when it comes to coverage on there. Even bloody Notts rugby get more coverage.
demon_dog Posted 16 September 2011 Posted 16 September 2011 Your bloody lucky that you get the East Midlands coverage. Where I live the only decent coverage we get is from the Sutton Coldfield transmitter! All we get is Birmingham teams this that or the bloody other. You would think that in this day and age, especially with the digital changeover that you would have a choice as to which area coverage you would prefer. But no, we are stuck with whats on offer. Stuff Brum or Villa or West Brom et al. I want to hear about Leicester, you lucky sod.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 What absolute dogs bollocks those who say EMT is biased spout. Last night was understandable. Seven minutes on the biggest derby in the East Midlands. If we were involved in that type of game and we got less than seven minutes then you'd be crying as well. We get plenty of coverage from EMT. Do remember I am the sad bastard on FT who keeps an archive of news coverage when I can, so I can say over the last four years that we've had more than our fair share. Some days we get the lionshare, some days Forest do, and somedays Derby do. Heck, even Notts County get some decent coverage when they need it. We dominated pre-season, they sent someone to Sweden and to Thailand last year for god sake, how much committment to us do you want them to have? Blimey some fans will moan about anything, really. And no, Notts rugby do not get more coverage than us, whoever said that, you're officially talking out of your a-hole now.

You should try to get the EM signal from Waltham, since the digital switch over they upped the signal strength so you might get it now? Your ariel may need to be moved though. You can then watch Anne Davis (with her interesting choice of clothes) and the hooter with the sport!!

I had the same issue living in Chester, which lies on the Granada (Winter Hill) / Wales (Moel-Y-Parc) border - much the same as much of West Leicester does between Sutton Coldfield and Waltham. Post DSO in Granada, we were able to retune using the Granada frequencies to receive North West telly and avoid receiving S4C, amongst other things. Have a look at http://www.ukfree.tv/ for details, I found this a very useful resource during DSO in Chester. It fully documents transmitter areas and their various channel frequencies, so if you so wish you can try retuning your Freeview TV/STB manually to pick-up only those signals from Waltham. Give it a go post-DSO, if you get pictures then you're sorted, if not you might have to try re-aligning your aerial or installing new equipment.
nuttytimmy Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 Just read that Waltham has already switched-over, so try retuning manually using only the frequencies output by Waltham. Remember you have to do this as a first-time installation of your STB (it can easily be undone by performing a second first-time installation as an automatic scan, which will overwrite your previous faffing!)

How the hell can you say it's "the biggest derby in the region" when we're not involved? I saw last night's programme. The overkill was obscene. Even when we and Derby were in the Premier League and hosting games against Man Utd and Chelsea, the beeb never gave us that amount of coverage. But hey, budgets are tight these days. I guess they can't afford to travel too often to do features from the biggest city in their region.
