Col City agrees with you.

Surely there could not be a bigger sign that you have on this occasion drifted over the boundaries of footballing pragmatics, headlong into unbalanced emotivity?

Dunno why many of you are claiming it was a strong Cardiff side. Out of the starting 11 i would expect Cowie, Marshall (in goal cos reserve keeper heaton got injured),

and Filip Kiss to start for us on Sunday. It would have been the left back Taylor aswell but he pulled his hamstring.2 of the subs will also start in Gunnarsson and Conway,

From a Cardiff point if view i thought id let you know how i saw it. Pantsill the right back had a great game, must have impressed Sven. Also i thought Schluup upfront was a very lively character. Maybe he wouldnt have been so lively against a strong Cardiff back 4 im not to sure. Danns also impressed me in 2nd half, hes not really a hard worker but can make something out of nothing. I was dissapointed in Matt Mills. 5 mill i was expecting a lot more from him. I thought St Ledger looked more comfortable in the air than him. Also Johnson had a very quiet game for someone with a big reputation.

Its going to be 2 very different sides out on Sunday and no doubt 2 very different formations, we played 4-4-2 yesterday as did you,but i cant see that happening for either team on Sunday.

I cant wish you to much luck for Sunday, but all the best in the season and have a safe journey down

Also from a fans point of view i think Sven got it wrong last night, should have used stronger subs like Cardiff did. I expect Martin Oneil with you boys in January

So does LCFC Snow too Nicholas... Are you up to your wumming again, Try to have a view of your own.. Thinking is so important...

Too frequently do you come out with your one-line sarcasm and it's usually a sign that you are having a 'high day'. When you get nasty and paranoid that usually indicates a 'low day'.. I'm glad you at least seem well today. Remember the olanzepine and you'll be ok..

Good post, thanks for taking the time - strong stuff.

Not sure MON would re-visit the Leicester roller-coaster.

So that's 3 people against most others.

I'm sure Sven was more than anything protecting Beckford from an injury for Sunday.

Did we lose a game of football again Col?

Are all the Sven dolls out of the pram?

You do winning well and losing like boy who shit's himself in the middle of assembly in protest that mummy didn't put lemon curd on his sandwiches.

Simply yes, I'm upset that we lost a game I think we could have won... And it's a shame we're out the cup.

Win on Sunday and I'll say the same thing.

Now don't read any more into what ive just said and start imagining stuff again. I ain't out to get ya or upset ya.

Can't argue with much of that. Would disagree slightly about Pantsil, only because I felt he slowed the game down too much when we were going forward, kept cutting back inside instead of looking to progress down the right hand side. St Ledger was probably our best player for me, has to take some blame for your second though, gave away a needless foul after losing the ball on halfway.

Thought we could've had a bit more joy from set pieces, Marshall was completely rooted to his line everytime, but we didn't challenge for any of the headers.

Nice to hear an opinion from someone at the game, from out BBC radio commentary it sounded like Johnson had a good game and was very composed on the ball, he's not going to be as impressive as he was at Man City yet, that will come i believe with more match practise, i doubt he will feature on Sunday. I also think that to win on Sunday, Leicester will play 4-4-2, this has been working for us in the past number of games. Its a much more effective formation for us than 433. Think we will keep one of either mills or SSL in the team and change the other ten that started.

I'm also surprised at you're views on Pantsil having a good game as again our BBC commentators said he had one of his worst games for us last night, hopefully peltier will play on Sunday. Thanks for your views, expect a tough test on sunday!

I agree with you for the most part but I have to say, where was King in the playoff semi final shootout? He was an ever present that season but didn't stand up and be counted in the shootout leaving Kermorgant and a young Waghorn to take penalties instead.

I don't think the decision to bring Fernandes can be questioned we scored 6 penalties in a row and lost, that rarely happens in football.

King shouldn't have any choice in taking penalties - his shooting technique looks much more sound than most.

That's two important cock-ups in two games for St Leger. Sounds like the bloke is his own worst enemy.

As for the set-pieces all the concerns seem to fall on deaf ears at the club. We just have momentary hints of something being done and then it's all back to the same disappointing indifference.

I think we used strong subs Peltier, Abe and Fernandes are very strong subs. Sven just didn't opt for the more attacking subs as Beckford and King.

This isn't what you were alluding to in a previous post Bert? Either we rested Beckford in case of injury, or because we didn't want for the opposition to be able to size him up for Sunday. The only point I made was that the latter reason would be nonsense.. Beckford has been around for years and Mackay would know his strengths and weaknesses.

Why the confusion over this?

This winning mentality from a good cup run did Birmingham the world of good last season.

I also like how the moaners are always so quick to pull out examples of previous clubs when discussing our league form but happened to gloss over Bilo's post...

QPR went out at home to Port Vale in the first round of the Carling Cup last year.

But they had the winning mentality to win the league but how can that be after such a poor cup run...

Lets prioritise this season shall we.

Personally I couldn't give a donkies about what other clubs did, IMO this cup gave he fringe players an oppportunity to get some competitive action, and for that reason I wanted city to stay in the cup.

I don't think this cup would any massive value on winning mentality as the team will be different to that of the league team!!

I was at the game yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. There's no chance I'm trawling through all the previous pages but quite suprised at the negativity.

It was a good cup tie, a one-off game that can always go either way and unfortunately it didn't go ours this time. I'd say we edged Cardiff in terms of performance and with a bit more composure in front of goal, really should have won. Was impressed with both St Ledger and Pantsil who looked solid at the back and Pantsil plays simple effective balls when going forward. St Ledger does need to improve his decision making though, he turned back toward our goal when under pressure quite a few times.

My main highlight of Pantsil's performance though was the guy standing behind us who has penned a genius song to the tune of Lady Lumps - Fergie. "Big John, Big John Big John Big John. Check it out!!!" I was in stiches (think you had to be there).

Johnson looked good first half but seemed to tire and was much quieter in the 2nd.

It's always gutting to lose on pens and also get dumped out the Cup but how people can get this angry is beyond me! We put in a good performance with our fringe players, we went for the win but it's a ****ing cup tie away against a decent side, it's not a formailty! Our fans were pretty decent and made more noise than them, I'm sure most who went would say they enjoyed it, glad they went but dissapointed with the end result especially after being 2-1 up - however look forward to Sunday and make sure we win the one which really counts!

And it's exactly this that makes your posts (or at least the bulk of them) worth reading. Momentary hints of something being done, followed by disappointing indifference... THAT has been the story of Sven the Leicester City Manager thus far.

Last nights game was there for the taking, could have given us all something to look forward to ( ie being in Sats

draw for the next round) and lengthened our non losing run further. Instead, Sven opted for safety first in the boring hope that we will go and win on Sunday. Yes, last nights players put on a good display, but just to 'risk' Beckford for thirty minutes would have probably won us the game.

Football is about winning matches, winning trophies and

basically... Winning

We could have gone further in the tournament last night.. But again failed

Finally, why not consider playing Kasper last night? It's clear that weales confidence is shot to pieces and it's usually rare that goalies get injured. Kasper could have made the difference too last night. I think Sven actually didnt give a dogs bollox whether we won or lost last night. Imagine if MON would have had the same Safety first attitude? History would have has to have been rewritten...

People can't say that the cup is good to use our fringe players and in the next breathe criticize Sven for not using the best team. it doesn't add up.

Sven put out a strong team with fringe players who was close to win away against Cardiff. Cardiff is a good team that will fight for promotion with many others.

I managed to find the Radio Wales commentary for extra time and penalties, and during the shoot-out the summariser wasn't sure which foot Dyer was going to take his penalty with.

Obviously hasn't watched Lloyd before :D

Posted

Fantastic effort, its always luck of the draw when it gets to penalties, now we're out the League Cup we can focus on getting up that table and returning to the promise land after an 8 year absence.

Posted

Peltier sounds very solid at CB when he came on.

We sounded much better than them, although you have to take the stringer connection into consideration. Schlupp sounded brilliant.

I'm a bit pissed off that we got beaten AGAIN on penalties in Cardiff but onwards and upwards.

We'll tank them on Sunday :scarf:

Had a peep at their board. They are unbelievably arrogant about

Sunday. "they played half their first team and we still deserved to

win" was the general attitude.

Thank God we had DJ as manager last season, and were forced to

keep our feet firmly on the ground cos of his ineptitude.

I'm not sure Leicester have cracked it yet.. Sven Gollum Errickson

aint all that as a manager. They got too many stars there, but the

gaffer thinks he's bigger than them all

Well taffyapple can report back that this fan thinks "deserved" earns you nothing in football. We lost, same as we lost over there last year and I wouldn't dream of trying to call the result on Sunday.

Nor do I give a shit who anyone played or didn't play. A manager is free to put out the side he likes. Nothing about yesterday's selection or performance suggests we couldn't have won. But for whatever reasons we didn't.

So, remembering last season's result and performance as well, I'd make Cardiff favourites for Sunday, not Leicester. Barnsley and Forest managed a draw with us, the latter coming from two goals behind, so quite how anyone would be confident of us getting an away win against almost any Championship side - let alone being "arrogant" about it - I don't know.

Sounds like pschological mind games to me, just like the quotes about our so-called big spending. And Sven will have to cope with that in preparing his team.

But In reality, I believe even some of our own fans would accept a draw right now given the chance.

Would I? Not a chance. I'll take 90 minutes of total focus and commitment to winning. I see no real point in anything else.
