Post Match - Derby

Walking back to my car from the stadium, I heard people saying what a poor side Derby are, or words to effect that the vicar has told me not to use.

But I have to ask the question, are Derby a poor team or was it City that made them look poor? We were simply fantastic in every department, very difficult to name a MOTM 'cos they were all MOTM's.

I have to agree with several posters on here that are saying we are a far better team without Wellens. He slows the game down & Kingy had the best game I have seen him have since Nigel Pearson left. He was back to his very best, which is great, 'cos he hasn't looked too good all season imo.

Abe also had a far better game than he usually has, & Fernades runs his heart out, plus Dannsy ripped the shaggers to bits with his speed & energy.

I hope Sven will give this midfield another shot just in case yesterdays performance was a fluke.

Don't you just love Kasper? Thank you very much Leeds for allowing us to have your 'crap' keeper! I would bet money that his old man has done quite a lot of coaching.

I would love Kasper to be tested as to whether he would don an England shirt if picked to play for us. He does qualify to play for England I believe, 'cos he has so far only played for Denmark at U21 level.

Sven out!!!

Cheers mate, that was more than adequate!.

Did anyone also see bamba having abit of a set to with Dyer after he came on as sub?

Im sure i didnt dream it(not that i would dream of 2 black lads having a set to!) but it seemed as if a few of the lads had to have a word wiv bamba to calm down>

No big deal as its good to see ABITof taht now and again!

Yes, Bamba did have a go at Dyer. Just after Bamba tried to 'Johan Cyruff Turn' the ball out the area and was tackled by two Derby players. Derby then got a corner then Bamba was late to the header which went wide however when the ball went of play Bamba carried on saying stuff to Dyer.

Might of been having a go for not tracking back? :dunno:

In a way it was slightly disappointing that we didn't go all out for a fifth, but four will certainly do.

We scored the 4th in injury time? Not that much time to go all out for a 5th really...

We still had four or five minutes, and considering we'd just scored two in two minutes, it was possible.

Anyway, 4-0 was fantastic.

Really does make you wonder how we ever lost to Bristol City at home doesn't it?

It was a crap result, looks even worse now.

However, I think Sven learnt from that game, as the three home games since have seen us take the game to the opposition from the off and not let them settle.

On Five Live now they are talking about Howard Webb missing a two-footed challenge last night.

Who was it by, because I really don't remember it?

Erm the only thing I could say it might have been was on Konchesky, can't really describe it or tell you who commited the challenge but there was a challenge on Konchesky. :dunno:

I didn't notice it at the time, but on Sky Sports this morning it showed Hendrick going in for an awful challenge on Vassell, should have been a red card.

Starting to ring a bell. Vassell was down for a while wasn't he, in the second half?

Yeah it was in the second half, he got a booking for it afterwards as Webb played advantage for it.

I believe it was on Vassell by Brayson. I saw a clip this morning and Chris Kamara was discussing it with Ginola. I can't remember really, but I do know that the consensus and my own view was that it was a two footed lunge, and should have been red card if going by the book.

Definitely seen reds given for a lot worse, I'd have said it was, not too dissimilar to Vassells red against Cov. I think he played advantage and then they went up the other end and Webb booked him.

Just woke up and reflected on yesterday's game.

We were fucking sensational. Shove that up your sheep, Derby.

did anybody else notice that the ball hit Mills on the arm when he was on the floor in our penalty area, but Webb didn't blow for a penalty?

almost identical to the one against Forest

Just come down off the ceiling (well, almost). A good performance; King looked very good in first half going forward (best game of the season thus far) and Mills was excellent. Really pleased for Lloydy bagging the fourth. Had to laugh at the Sheep being "kettled" by the OB after the game, all they could think to sing was "Heard you ran from the Forest?" lol

A very enjoyable afternoon, early evening to be sure!

Can't be bothered re-reading all 14 pages but loved Stevies Howards run and then Gee-up to the crowd....LEGEND!

Fantastic performance, the first 45 minutes was one of the best I've seen for years.

David Nugent was fantastic, especially considering he had a month out. His finish was premier league class, but it was his runs into the channels which made all the difference. It allowed the front 3 of the diamond to run riot and the team were so much more creative as a result. It already looks like that Nugent will be a key player for us this season as he makes the diamond formation hugely effective when going forward.

The back 5 look immense, easily the best back 5 in the division. Bamba and Mills are so dominant in the air and Kasper Schmeichel has got to be one of the signings of the summer for any team for me. He is so composed, commanding and his distribution is top notch. "KEEPER!" could be heard from Leicester fans in Australia I'm sure, such is his manner. Konchesky and Peltier also deserve praise. They are steady players that have already shown great consistency in their positions. And to think, these guys have only played 10 or so games with each other... if we're this miserly already, it shows massive potential for the team. Additionally, Abe was really good just in front of the back four, and you would argue that of all the players who have been tried in this position, Abe has fitted in the best. He just keeps it simple whilst providing extra protection for the back 4.

Danns deserves some credit too, I don't think he's been stellar since joining, but in this game he was excellent and looked a good addition.

What was so impressive about our display is that everyone had a good game, even the subs that came on showed real hunger and appetite and that strength in depth could be massive for us over the long haul. No Wellens, Beckford or Johnson, yet we still hit 4 with 4 different scorers and keep a clean sheet. Amazing!

Really looking forward to our next home game now, when I am sure we will play like this again. Away from home, Sven has shown that he likes to be cautious. I've no real problem with that, as taking points from places like Cardiff / Boro / Brum / West Ham is still a good achievement, especially if combined with home performances like this, of which I hope we many more of!
