The Year Of The Fox Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 DDid we play yesterday? Can't find a match report in the mirror today?
Guest Col city fan Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 I'll react as I like and if it does anything to encourage the sort of football on view today I'll be more than pleased, as I'm sure will a good few others who have tried to encourage the same approach. All today did was demonstrate what we should have been trying to do for years. You can be an arrogant bar steward sometimes.. You really think what YOU think on here is gonna influence Sven and anything at all? You ARE a frustrated manager aren't you? I was right all along
Vlad the Fox Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 Got a beautiful wife beer in hand but got ****ing parking ticket doh! If it's from a private parking company don't pay it. From the police or council then do pay it.

Raj Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 Apart from the immature Brian Clough and Buying The Leagues chant s Everything was good about Yday. The team played as a team and some of the pace was great. Really cant wait to see Beckford and Nugent play together, they will be awesome!
Vlad the Fox Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 Think this was a definite change in approach. Against the better teams we play narrow keeping tight and forcing teams to lump long balls into the box that mills and bamba can deal with. Yesterday Sven knew derby were there for the taking and went for them. Look at the bench, schlupp, howard, and dyer, very attack minded. Also loved the way that Kasper went round organising and geeing up the players while derby where waiting to take a corner as vasell got treatment. And finally the ball boys behind the goal in front of the family stand made me laugh. They would race to get the ball before a derby player when they had a corner and then would roll it slowely and casually to a corner stopping about ten yards short. It looked like Kasper and one of the boys were having a laugh and joke about it at one point. Anyway fantastic performance more reminiscent of what we were producing last season. There will be more days like this to come this season.
Guest Col city fan Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 Just watching the game again this morning this time on sky. Bit hungover to be fair. I didn't realise the overall contribution nugent makes to the team. He really does give very little away and for a relatively small striker holds the ball up fantastic. Excellent signing this bloke. I'm not sure whether Beckford or vassell is gonna be his best partner though. Vassell yesterday was an excellent foil for nugent.

somebum Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 Very good result yesterday. That's the best I have seen City play all season and we completely bossed the game. Derby were awful and it makes you wonder how the hell they are in the top 3. I said the same about cardiff but if City continue to make the so called top teams look ordinary then we will be in with a chance. I think the league is poor this year so it's the best chance to get out of it. We are on a very good run, could it be that I will be eating my hat at the end of the season when City gain promotion under Sven?

sdb Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 Just to cushion any blows over the next few games...every season we have a couple of home games (usually against rivals) where we really turn on the style. This was only one game, we need to be doing this on a constant basis - we have the squad to do so.
Joe. Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 Really does make you wonder how we ever lost to Bristol City at home doesn't it? Even Reading are struggling this season too. We've started showing some intent for this season now, which is brilliant. Wins against Southampton, Brighton and Derby and good points away at Cardiff and Middlesbrough. Everything appears to be falling together nicely, but we're kidding ourselves if we think it's going to be an easy ride from here.
LcFc_Smiv Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 As far as team, performances won't get much better than that. Every player on that pitch today put a shift in, Nugent is a work horse, non stop all game, creates practically everything for the team, even if there's nothing on we end up with a corner or a throw in because he was willing to run that extra bit. The midfield was stunning today, something clicked in them and the passes between each other, free flowing football, the fancy little touches really showed something that other teams will take a look at and fear. As for the back four, another solid job and a third clean sheet in a row, ignoring the start of the season, this speaks volumes about how far we have came from last season. Although he didn't have a lot to do Kasper stood out as having a great game, he comes for everything, he goes at strikers feet and wins the ball, and I can't really think back to when I've seen a keeper hold on to so many shots, Derby seemed to get fed up of having a man running on to it just in case he spilled it. As far as the substitutions go, Howard was a fantastic change, I know people may not like him, but the Derby defence had gone through hell dealing with Nugent and then they get stuck with a man that was going to spend the rest of the game bullying them, and that he did. Creating opportunities for the final two goals he went straight through anything that got in his way, to come off the bench and put that much heart in to a performance when he had been all but forgotten about is a credit to him. Finally Schlupp and Dyer, both showed why they deserve a place on the bench, Schlupp is only young, but he has a real strikers instinct, and I may even go as far as to say he reminds me of Owen, always a thorn in the side of the defence and the keeper getting in to that position where if anything comes loose he's there to bundle it home, and I haven't really seen that at a while for Leicester. As for Dyer he got in to the right positions and for me showed why he should be on that left hand side. Obviously feet have got to be kept on the ground, performances won't always be that good but we know the quality is there we know the team can show that cutting edge, lets hope we get to see more of the same. Well done lads.
AmyLGK Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 WOAH THERE!!!! just watched the FLS - was the Claridge actually saying something positive about us?? I don't think I can cope with what I just heard...I'm off for a lie-down!

This was only one game, we need to be doing this on a constant basis - we have the squad to do so. Abso-fooking-lutely...... I have been saying for some times that we have a very decent squad of players and if we get them set up properly and playing to their strengths, then we are definitely up for a top 2 finish. As I said, I did not get to see yesterdays game, so I have no idea if we are really sorting ourselves out or if it was simply 'randon' good day, still time will tell. I have been crying out for us to use our best players in our best positions, yesterday we appeared to use Fernandes in a central 'holding' role (with Abe?), King in a deeper position and Danns supplying the creative spark further forward, all things I have been suggesting for weeks. Anyone care to comment? With quicker, more incisive service we are beginning to see how effective our strikers can be, so to me it remains clear that it is the midfield that needs sorting and it looks like we took a good step forward in this respect yesterday. More of the same please......

More of the same please...... For an educated man you sometimes really don't get it dave. I've been saying all fortnight that I was hoping Sven got these last three games spot on.. And he did. You can't go to Cardiff and borough away and play the same way we did yesterday.. They won't let you mate. You have to vary your game plan according to the needs of the fixture. We ground out solid results away and then topped it with a good, attacking display yesterday. 'Top' marks for such management.. You expect us to provide attacking flair week in week out.. It won't happen...
The Guvnor Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 Watched the match in a bar in Lanzarote, family of derby fans also there, good bit of banter, great performance from the lads made my holiday.
Happy Fox Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 All I have to say is fantastic, still in elation from yesterday, cracking atmosphere, we played really well, more of the same please lads
Guest bennytwohats Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 Great result. 3 clean sheets on the bounce is huge. The defence has looked the part too, not just scraped them. Very encouraging stuff.
Madrid_Fox Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 All I can say is this David Nugent does not have blood, he is filled with molten magma.
Guest BlueBrett Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 What a fantastic evening of football! We were excellent. Completely dominated in the first half and then cruised through the second. So many highlights but my personal favourite was Big Steve's little cameo. That mazy messi-esque run into their box he came up with will keep me smiling for days!
cc_star Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 Your embarrassing comments about Andy King have come back to bite you today! Haha. You're on a different planet... I've never ever said a bad word about King, never would... take a look through someone else's post history to slag them off if you want So, unfortunately it's your comment that's embarrassing. Haha. tw@
Guest bennytwohats Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 4 clean sheets 4 league clean sheets In fairness we had a fairly different team in Cardiff. Either way, encouraging.
