MikeyT Posted 10 November 2011 Posted 10 November 2011 Hull City supporters fear a double blow following the impending departure of Nigel Pearson to Leicester City, says Tigers legend Dean Windass. If it was not bad enough that Pearson is set to leave the KC Stadium to re-join City, the Tigers followers dread the prospect of Pearson returning to try to sign some of their brightest young players, armed with the rumoured hefty transfer kitty he will be handed in January. Pearson signed City players Jack Hobbs and Matty Fryatt after leaving for Hull 18 months ago, and recently took Martyn Waghorn on loan. But there have been other promising stars emerging at Hull which Pearson may look to recruit, such as young defender Jack Chester. Windass told Talksport: "The question on everyone's lips now is, is he going to take some of the young players to Leicester? "He took Matty Fryatt from Leicester to Hull. Is he going to take the young players back? They have done very well for the club. They are going along very nicely at the moment and are in the play-offs, and then this happens. But it's part of football." Windass said he was sad to see Pearson leave, adding that the 48-year-old had won over the doubters at Hull when he arrived. But he said he could not blame Pearson for joining City and reportedly doubling his £500,000 a year wages. "At first I don't think the Hull fans took to Nigel's style of play," said Windass. "But then he started to get his own team and bring young players in. The one thing about football, it is about results, and he started to get results. " I listen to local radio phone-ins and the fans are disappointed he is leaving and that is testament to the great job he did. "He is a nice man and all the players respected him, which he got from winning games. "I think he is definitely gone and I heard it will be done in the next 24 hours. There is no surprise that the new owners at Leicester want him back but I am a little bit surprised he is going because they have got that consistency and stability at Hull now. "I heard that Nigel is going to double his salary and get an £8million transfer kitty in January and, while some people say it is all about money, he has to look after himself and his family. "If anyone offers anyone in football, or on a building site, that kind of money, they are going to go. It is a great opportunity for Nigel and I am sad to see him go."
burni Posted 10 November 2011 Posted 10 November 2011 Be interesting to see if he does do any transfer business with hull if he did i couldnt see him buying more than one or two out of respect. I also heard not only is he doubling his wage he will get a 1m pound bonus for promotion, be life changing money for him im sure although he hardly got payed poorly at hull!

The players he took from LCFC couldn't get a game here! We are hardly likely to be taking any of Hull's players because thay are not as good as Leicesters! We are underachieving, thats why Sven got the sack, not because of anything else! With the investment Sven was given he should have done a better job assembling a team to win matches in the Championship! Buying players from Hull is highly unlikely to be getting Leicester Automatic promotion, whiich is what the Owner obviously wants ASAP.

But that could change so quickly. A few bad results at Hull and he might've been sacked, so we don't know how much more stability there is elsewhere compared to Leicester.

City1884 Posted 10 November 2011 Posted 10 November 2011 Every club is capable of having a couple of gems locked away that any non supporter of that club may not know about. How many non Leicester supporters had heard of Jeff Schlupp before this season?? Also we've already seen that Pearson's backroom team are good at spotting up and coming talent (Hobbs, Cleverley, M Davies, etc), admitted those players came from bigger clubs than Hull, but lets not rule out a couple of good young players we may be unaware of being useful in our squad. Lets wait and see if Pearson does show any interest in bringing anyone with him before we start to judge. In Nigel We Trust!!!
