Have a top holiday Nightguard. Sounds like you've been working really hard of late looking for work and completing your IT course, so have a deserved break, relax, and enjoy yourself! :)

Hawkshead Brewery in Staveley is well worth a visit. Wilf's cafe next door is good and cheap too, and you can take your pint through from the brewery tap to have your lunch! Gummer's How offers great views along Windermere and isn't a million miles from Strawberry Bank and the aformentioned Masons which is superb. Watermill at Ings is excellent too, also in the SE Lakes. If you're over towards the SW, head for Eskdale and Boot which have a couple of good pubs. And, of course, in the Langdales there's the Old Dungeon Ghyll's Climbers' Bar which is a must. Alas, I know little of the Northern Lakes so if you're North of Grasmere I'm afraid this essay is entirely redundant!

Enjoy your break anyway, make sure to show us your pics.

Have walked from Strawberry Bank to Gummer's How. As you say, great views.

And got to agree with you about the Climber's Bar too... also the pub at Wasdale Head, forget it's name. Like many pubs in the area, might not be the greatest inside, but sat outside in the beer garden in the surrounding granduer of nature... superb!

Have a good 'un chap.

I'd love to visit the place one day.

You lucky old lad, Ken. Enjoy it.

One of my favourite places. I spent my honeymoon in Keswick. The Lakes are heaven on earth to me.

Keswick has literally the single best sandwich shop on the entire planet. Fucking brilliant.

Took some cobs from there up Skiddaw and sat huddled behind a cairn at the top having lunch and looking at the views. One of the best meals of all time!

Thanks all. Still in bedroom. not sure what I'll do while here. Only got a small digital camera with me. Limited with my luggage. All the family came round and got new gear, trousers, shirt etc, so had to dress up. Loads of food and drink available. I shall inquire about those places. Stopping in the Northern lakes, Cockermouth area. Not too far from Keswick I suppose.
