GLC Posted 30 November 2011 Posted 30 November 2011 With some people moaning about Nigel Pearsons style of football (Not my words), I like the way he plays BBC Radio Leicester had this debate the other night, Would you rather win games 1-0 or play entertaining football? You pay your money, you decide!
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 30 November 2011 Posted 30 November 2011 We haven't had a single 1-0 win since he came back... the idea that NP doesn't attack is and always has been a total myth.
Simmo86 Posted 30 November 2011 Posted 30 November 2011 Win games and as Mike said we haven't been boring so far. Could've easily had more than 2 last night
Jaspa Posted 30 November 2011 Posted 30 November 2011 Nigel & his staff are a very intelligent bunch, and manage their squads to always make enough points in the restrictions and circumstances they aquire. I won't vote because i'd say somewhere in the middle. Grind through when you have to, Messi about when you can afford to
Simi Posted 30 November 2011 Posted 30 November 2011 Quite frankly the people that are moaning can just **** off. These people will moan about something whatever we do.
marbelladave Posted 30 November 2011 Posted 30 November 2011 A descisive 2-0 win in a game the opposition dominated for large spells........ So Nigel F**king Pearson!
Fox92 Posted 30 November 2011 Posted 30 November 2011 I'd rather win. I love football on the ground (which we do play sometimes, I mean look at our second goal last night), but, it was so frustrating under Sven, watching 'entertaining football' but loosing to the likes of Brisol City, Millwall and Reading. Easy choice for me. I know what I prefer watching. I know who I prefer as manager.
FrankieADZ Posted 30 November 2011 Posted 30 November 2011 i know i might be wrong in saying this but.... the people who want entertainment are fans who often dont go to the game give me 3 points and a scrappy game any day.
cc_star Posted 30 November 2011 Posted 30 November 2011 2 things a) Winning football is entertaining b) Nigel doesn't play boring football anyway, the team just adapts to playing with the circumstances in front of them, if a short pass & retaining posession is on, someone will make it if someone is making a run which requires a longer ball then they will make it The most bored I've been was 0-0 Cardiff away this season (they were there for the taking as their man upfront got injured, so did his replacement & his replacement & his replacement meaning they were playing effectively with 10men) , our short pass possession game was dreadful zero creativity & nobody making an effort to get ball in their box & their was no movement to create anything. Posession football can be boring too. 1 area where I consider Pearson's critics may have a point is away from home where NP does everything possible to avoid defeat rather than try to look good whilst winning, but a lot of teams do this anyway, Man City up to this summer uses to play solely to avoid defeat in some games with 2 central defensive midfielders.

Easy choice for me. I know what I prefer watching. I know who I prefer as manager. Sven didn't play attractive football this season. Last season it was great but this year it was too slow lethargic and so boring at times its unreal. If you think passing it sidewards with no cutting edge or pace to our play was good football then god knows what football you have watched.
Tielemans63 Posted 30 November 2011 Posted 30 November 2011 Watching City win is entertaining in itself. Plus, the more you win, the more confident you become and the football often improves naturally.
rico Posted 30 November 2011 Posted 30 November 2011 3 points is most important, unfortunately entertainment has to come 2nd
Nunny Fox Posted 30 November 2011 Posted 30 November 2011 We haven't had a single 1-0 win since he came back... the idea that NP doesn't attack is and always has been a total myth. I agree completely, It is a bit of a myth. We played some of the best football we have played for a while last night creating alot of decent chances . Some people brand NP as hoofball but thats not the case at all. Direct YES, hoofball NO. We are not fannying about passing the ball across the opponents penalty area for 10 minutes before we got a shot off like we have in the past and I think we are much better for it. Why take 10 passes when you can do it in 2 or 3 which gives time for defences to get 10 men behind to ball and organise. We seem much harder to play aginst under big Nige!!

That is why I put 'entertaining' in inverted commas.
Corky Posted 30 November 2011 Posted 30 November 2011 The scoreline doesn't always tell the story. I've seen us play better in 1-0 wins than 3-0. If I see us trying to create chances and not sit back on a lead then I'll be happy. Having seen and heard about the first two home games under NP I'm very optimistic about the football we can play and the results we gain.
Simo86 Posted 30 November 2011 Posted 30 November 2011 I'd prefer to win every time! Pearson's style isn't boring, as many people have said. We create a lot more chances under Pearson then we did under Sven and at the end of the day goal mouth action is the most entertaining part of football in my eyes!
Alf Bentley Posted 30 November 2011 Posted 30 November 2011 During Sven's reign I nearly always felt that we might mess things up, even when we were on top and playing delightfully intricate short-passing football. During Pearson's first stint, with a few rare exceptions (1-5 v Forest, 1-3 v Bristol C etc.), I always felt that we were in contention in every match, even if the opposition was on top. I'm getting that feeling again recently - and I like it. By using more width and getting the ball forward more quickly (but accurately, most of the time), we are creating more problems for the opposition - pulling their organisation around, creating openings for shots etc. Through decent organisation and energetic closing down, we're also getting harder to beat. That 's a pretty good combination in the Championship. It might need changing if we ever go up, but that's for the future. Sven had created a poor Premiership side, while Pearson seems to be creating a good Championship side....I think I know which is more likely to succeed in the Championship.
GLC Posted 1 December 2011 Author Posted 1 December 2011 Winning is more important! i'f we get to the PL, then everything will be forgotten
Yojoe36 Posted 1 December 2011 Posted 1 December 2011 I thought the game of Tuesday WAS entertaining But still, I'd sooner win games, and lift a cup, rather than end up like Forest or Cov
1964FOX Posted 1 December 2011 Posted 1 December 2011 If our next ten games were dull scrappy wins I would be more than happy.
lcfcadam Posted 1 December 2011 Posted 1 December 2011 Right go on, be honest - who are the 3 numpties who have voted for the first option?
Houdini Logic Posted 1 December 2011 Posted 1 December 2011 Football under Sven wasn't entertaining, it was damn frustrating. I've never seen so much possesion and so many sideways passes, with such little goal threat. I'd take Pearson's style all day long
