Just so you don't feel left out and in an effort to keep you boys up to date with our Midlands conquests http://www.ambernect...enty-0-city-1/?

You see, you shouldn't be so harsh on yourselves, none of your mates could stop us either

For a few threads I gave Hulk City the benefit of the doubt as we know how it feels to have our top managers leave us (those who were taking us in the right direction at the time of leaving) - Brian Little and Mark McGhee in successive seasons in 1994 and then 1995.......before it all lead to O'Neill's "holy blessing in disguise" appointment. However having read this link, wow - Hulk Cty really are a bitter bunch!! ANybody would think they'd lost their last three in a row......

What planet have you been on? This team can't even win two games in a row, let alone three.

And why should we NOT expect to beat Peterborough at home? They're exactly the type of tinpot side we should be eating for breakfast. The fact we couldn't finish them off should disturb us all, especially the manager who is being paid a fortune to turn this mess around.

The manager has been here five minutes and your already judging him?

I wasn't a fan of Sven, look at the mess of a squad he left us with. Give Pearson a chance to make the team his own again. No matter how much money a manager is being paid there no miracle workers

Is that right though? From what I've seen of the team it appears that they've, to a man, been unshackled and told to express themselves on the pitch, which is making for much better entertainment, although I shouldn't really speak of entertainment because, mostly preaching to the converted I know, with Pearson in charge you'll soon forget the meaning of the word.

Sorry, don't maul me.

lol lol lol lol lol lol lol

I like how Hull City fans talk about Pearson like we don't know what to expect from him.

He was manager of our club for two years for ****'s sake. We know what he offers.

Blimey, you' think we'd lost 5 on the trot reading this thread.

We lost to a last minute goal at Hull and had 10 men, and dared to draw against Peterborough. I dread to think what the reaction would have been had Pearson actually had a shit start.

Whilst both games have been frustrating (for different reasons), it's a bit early to be writing everyone and our season off.

On another subject, whilst I have defended Wellens previously his last three outings have been of a fairly poor standard, had that been one of Svens signings I'd wager that he would have been dropped and someone else given a crack by now.

First 20 minutes we could have had 4, once we scored we got nervous, playing silly balls, not picking up men and not pressing the ball in there half. We let them back into the game and their gola looked inevitable in the end. The 'old heads' looked old. We need a spark. Hugely disappointing.

Obviously you never read the board after our pounding of you then, the clamouring for the likes of Stewart, Chester, Rosenior and Koren was pitiful, especially from such a 'big' (LMAO) club

Hello there you cheecky little so and so. I was reading some of your posts and was about to let rip with some classic Rumble putdowns but before I do I just wanted to check that you don't actually have any metal health problems or learning disabilities. I would hate to look like a monster?

Complete opposite to the last home game against Blackpool in which we looked organised and full of ideas going forward. Beckford for me looks a player who takes one of the five chances he gets in matches with the odd purple patch along the way to boost the goal tally. Nugent had a shocker, simply nothing went right, the full backs and Schmeichel were the only consistant performers on the afternoon against a very poor Peterborough side who were very much there for the taking. We'll get games like this, as will every team, its not a calling to cull half the squad for being 'not good enough'.

But we've had FIVE of them at home already this season and we haven't even reached Christmas. With our away form being so dire, three points from fixtures like these are an absolute necessity.

If this result was a one-off (like Southampton vs Blackpool) we could shrug it off and move on. But it's not. These setbacks are happening on a regular basis and strongly suggest serious character flaws within the current group of players.

There is deadwood within the club which needs to be moved on because it is holding us back.

Whether the manager is brave enough to wield the axe is the key to our success or otherwise this season.

I still think it's far too early for people to be criticising Pearson, or writing off the season.

What you've got to bear in mind is he's still working around Sven's flaws, I'm not just bashing Sven for the fun of it but the bloke's completely fvcked our season, the squad is inbalanced and the real, real blow for me is the fact that really, the players brought in just aren't THAT good.

Don't get me wrong, there are some good, but the midfield's an utter farce, to think in two years we're still there with a midfield consisting of a winger who hides for two thirds of every game, someone who we've had 2 and a half years and still not a single person can tell you his best position, someone who I have been a fan of but is taking a lot of stick from the fans lately and to be honest rightly so, he's been shite, and someone who, whilst he goes about his business quietly, it's almost too quietly.

The worst thing is, we had a better midfield two years ago. We've now got players like Abe who's another who goes about things quietly, Danns who was Palace's star player and done next to fvck all here, Fernandes who looked brilliant now hardly gets a look-in, Johnson who's got a fitness level Ledley King wouldn't envy, seriously, what the actual fvck have we spent all this money on?

I feel sorry for NP and a lot of the players signed, because I feel of the 6 centre mids I just named, at least two will have to leave, no doubt to sides where they'll play better than they have here, it's the Leicester way.

HOWEVER.

We have 25 games left, a potential 75 points to play for, we have a manager who has proven himself in this league with Leicester and Hull, and people fail to realise that he actually HAS spent money for us, he wasn't working on a budget of £0 by any means. No, it was less than he'll have now, but it wasn't exactly peanuts.

We're playing catch-up again but there's that much inconsistency from everyone in this league at the minute, even the top two are losing it a bit, Pearson installed consistency with Leicester before and there's no reason at all he can't do it again.

Top two is a long reach, the play-offs - certainly aren't.

Now I've calmed down after the frustrations of Saturday. Didn't think we played as badly as some are saying. Agree with Bert that cuddashudda been a couple up at ht.

Agree with Scousefox that Beckford is looking to make runs but not being played in sharply enough. Thought he had a perfectly decent game, I was in line with his shot that hit the post and it was a magnificent strike from no angle.

Agree with other thread that pressure is causing good players to panic.

My biggest concern (as it has been most of the season) is the final ball and final touches/strikes. For all our fine play at times it just hasn't been good enough and I think is the reason we are where we are rather than pushing the top 2. That more than any is the area that needs to be worked on.

I just can't agree with the argument that not enough quality balls were put through to the front pair. I'd like to be able to argue that this was the case because it would provide an excuse for Beckfords dire goal tally, but having been at Sats game it simply is not true.

For the first 20/30 mins the number of whipped in crosses that came from Lloyd Dyer and the accurate high balls that Gally provided were just not exploited by either Becks or Nuge. I felt Nuge had possibly his worst game in a City shirt. We won, as far as I can recollect, corner after corner and, with the exception of Sol getting something on the end of one or two of them, no one (and not only the strikers) got anywhere near them.

A confident, in form striker will put himself about a bit, will gamble and will bust a gut to try to get on the end of something...

With the possession we had, first half especially, it's inexcusable that nothing was converted into at least half a chance. I can't even recollect their keeper actually making a save??

For me, the problem with Beckford is actually the converse of what most on here are suggesting. I think his footballing brain is slow.. He doesn't appreciate where his teammates are and he is not able to sniff out a chance. It amazes me that no one has bothered to mention the ball he should have played to Danns, but instead tried a ridiculous effort that sailed wide. This would have won the game and, watching Danns screaming and throwing his arms in the air was the epitome of a player who was as frustrated as fook that he had bust a gut to get himself into a great position, only to see that his teammate hasn't even bothered to look up to see him there.

I'm happy to be slated for my opinions on Beckford because I simply have not seen anything in the player that many are saying they have seen.

However, I'm a City fan first and foremost and am going to Donny Rovers. If Beckford scores a sensational hat trick to prove me entirely wrong then I will be over the moon and will be happy to say I was mistaken. More than happy.....

However, I think it may well be Billy Sharpe who'll do the scoring as I consider him to be the player that most think Beckford to be.

Posted

Can't say I disagree too much with that, especially on Sharp who I posted from a pre-season friendly looked a class act. Fair point about balls in, but I thought Nugent was worse than Beckford in showing the desire and inclination to get on the end of them. I was more meaning how slow we are to see and pass the ball through when its on like the ball that set Nugent away for his goal against Derby.

On a slightly different note with regards to Beckford,my biggest concern is the same as Marbella Dave's, that he can only really play in a 442. That makes it difiicult for our midfield especially away from home as the central 2 are not strong enough to avoid getting over run in that area

@ look_back_in_amber. Boring 1-0 brand of football? We beat Palace 3-0 and Blackpool 2-0 so you can pipe down for that one. Not every manager has to have a honey moon period to be successful you moron. It took MON over 10 games to get his first win and look what he did. I really doubt you will go up, you don't have the squad to do it unless it is via the play-offs which may be a possibility. Nicky Barmby won't be the man to guide to it though, I know that much. Even when Hull's victory doesn't even involve us you still have to come on here and talk constant drivel. You also contradict yourself on saying "3 points are 3 points no matter how they come" regarding your 2-1 victory against us that wasn't exactly enthralling. Then you comment about how we will have to suffer 1-0 victories? Sort it out mate.

P.S. play around with the words as much as you like, it just makes you look sillier.

Both youngy and walshy have both just said that Beckford has gotta start gambling more....

Hallelujah.......

What interests me is that they have spent almost half an hour discussing our goal scoring limitations and haven't once mentioned Nugent's performance on Saturday. You'd think we'd only played one up top.

Shut up you cheese eating surrender monkey

but but if we lose our next match it'll be 1 point from the last 9.
