SOCCERROO FOX Posted 24 January 2012 Posted 24 January 2012 Stuck with my formation of 4-3-2-1 the 2 are wide attacking wingers. I get plenty of goals.
Dan Posted 25 January 2012 Posted 25 January 2012 I've got two formations I do. If I'm a team I expect to do well in my league, it's 4-2-3-1 with wing backs, wingers, a deep lying playmaker, a box to box midfielder and an inside forward at AM, an advanced striker or poacher up front. Fluid football, standard mentality although this may change during the game, keep them all on defaults except making crossing drilled, tackling aggressive and more expressive football. I have a deep defence, and play with width and tempo, whilst I'm often about 7th or 8th in the league in terms of defence, my attack absolutely blitzes the whole division every single season, although I am however in the Serie A. My other formation is a flat 4-4-2, I play with similar team instructions although this time it's based entirely on counter-attacking as I use this formation when I consider myself a weaker side, it's the formation that brought me so much success at Peterborough, including a win at the Nou Camp (I know Posh back you but my team was nowhere near Barca standard). In this I play with a balanced philosophy, counter attacking mentality, the same seven other instructions, and the same deep defence and high width/tempo. My team I set the whole back four to defend, possibly making a centre half a ball-player, I have the RM and LM both as attacking wingers, one CM box to box, the other a defensive deep-lying playmaker (takes some player to pull it off but it's worth it), an advanced forward and a poacher. However to make this formation work, the RM, LM and both ST's must ALL posess pace. It was basically an idea to just draw teams onto me and then absolutely rip teams with pace on the counter, even if they're prepared for counter-attacking. Took me a long time, but finally found formations that work.
Brainy Posted 27 January 2012 Posted 27 January 2012 Finished my 3rd season at Tonbridge Angels but still haven't got out of the BSS. Reached the play offs every season but failed in them everytime. Have now got players such as Sean Thornton, Chris Dagnall, Tom Hopper, John McCombe and a few u21 internationals from N Ireland and Portugal.

I will probably be starting a game with Hinkley shortly, or maybe one of the following loughborough, shepshed, quron, barrow. depending how low in the leagues you can go
AjcW Posted 28 January 2012 Posted 28 January 2012 Mustapha Dumbuya... available for 180k from doncaster at the start of the game... Easily my find of this year. Signed him for every team I have been in the champ and league 1 and he has been flawless, even had him at blackburn in the prem and he held his own there too! Right Back who genuinely never misses a tackle!

Schlupp Posted 29 January 2012 Posted 29 January 2012 I'm just in my second season at Bristol City it's hard the board hope to get play-offs because I finished 7th last season yet they don't give me **** all to spend I'm keeping my eye out for the Wigan Job.
Dan Posted 29 January 2012 Posted 29 January 2012 Best formation - 3-2-2-2-1 all the way. Never heard that one myself, what's it like? What positions are they all in?
S1DDO Posted 29 January 2012 Posted 29 January 2012 3 CB's 2 WB's 2 CM's 2 Wingers (set to inside fowards) 1 Striker Still tinkering with this, seems to work well.
Dan Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 So arguably 5-2-3, interesting to say the least, I've always liked the idea of a totally unique formation, I tried one once which was absolutely ridiculous and it produced, as you would expect, major inconsistency.
EcclesallOwl Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 If anyone is struggling to find someone to start with then choose Wednesday. Get £1m in League One. £4m-£5m in Championship and when you get to the Prem you get £23m!

shen Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 So arguably 5-2-3, interesting to say the least, I've always liked the idea of a totally unique formation, I tried one once which was absolutely ridiculous and it produced, as you would expect, major inconsistency. Took charge of the US national team to try and experiment with a silly formation (I gave up the 'Anchor'-one and tried out a 'Upside down Xmas tree'). Three center backs with the middle one basically acting as a sweeper (strictly, he's a BPD) and the outer ones being stoppers, one anchorman, two CMs (one BWM one standard support), two wingers an AP or AM and a lone striker. It got me qualified to the WC recovering from the previous manager's abject start (0/0/3, God only knows how that was possible) and an away win against Brazil in a friendly.
Fox92 Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 Nearly the end of my first season as Crewe. Currently sitting 2nd which is excellent, as we were predicted to finish 12th. I also won the JPT, and beat two League 1 teams on the way to the final. Most of my Crewe team is young, I have 5 players on loan; two from Leicester (Taft, Chamberlain), two from Manchester City (Chantler, Scapuzzi) and one from Burnley (Harvey). All of the players have played very good as a team and the loan players have played very well as well. No transfer budget and limited wage budget so it is a real task. All of my signings are either loan or free.
Libertine Dream Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 Is Milan still the owner? I wonder where he got that extra cash from Milan doesn't pay his tax, Milan doesn't pay his tax

munf1987 Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 It's all about Spurs on this game. Signed a hatful of wonder kids while they also push for the 1st team. Sold VDV in the 1st season Jan window for 18m to inter. Keep having to fight off the manchester clubs from Bale and Modric both offering around 20m for them. Brought 2 wonderkid GK's one is being loaned out, while the young german keeper is keeping Brad out at the moment. I have signed Verriti, Douglas costa, some lb and rb. I have rubbish with names so will update when i get on it
AjcW Posted 1 February 2012 Posted 1 February 2012 So I won the champ with reading and upon promotion didn't receive the usual lump of money... instead we appear to of negotiated our own tv deal worth 550k WHATS GOING ON?!?!?!? I've got a squad of 15 and no money .

Basingstoke Fox Posted 2 February 2012 Posted 2 February 2012 Finally got FM again after a few years without having a machine that was good enough to play it! Started off unemployed. Got to January and was offered the Sheff Utd job (turned down MK Dons, f**k that. Their a decent side but Ched Evans takes up over a quarter of the weekly wages with 20K p/w! managed to sell him to QPR and sold Cresswell who was on 12K p/w. Now Chris Porter is my only striker and the transfer windows almost shut . I have about 80K to spend and up to 5K p/w on wages. This should be interesting.
AjcW Posted 2 February 2012 Posted 2 February 2012 Haha could be a tough season Got a bit excited after storming the first game 2-0.... then we played spurs and lost 4-0
kingfox Posted 2 February 2012 Posted 2 February 2012 Just started with Crawley, brought in some decent players on loan also got in two frees. Had a pretty decent pre season, but drew first league game against Plymouth. Shearer Hunt, McFadzean, Davis, Talbot Torres, Simpson, Akpan, Kacaniklic Tubbs, Cassidy Kacaniklick and Cassidy are very good loan signings, so if you are a League 1 or 2 side I suggest you look into them. Also signed Bryan Hughes on a free.
Simmsy Posted 2 February 2012 Posted 2 February 2012 Won League 1 with a record points total as Huddersfield playing 4-4-2. Signed Chris Wood and Tom Soares on loan and Eric Addo on a Bosman free (got my player of the season, solid CB partnership with Peter Clarke.) I signed Lloyd Dyer and Bradley Wright-Phillips in January for a combined total of less than 600k after the board allowed me to change expectations to win the league. Not started in Championship yet but was given a hefty budget after controlling League 1 finances well. Signed McNaughton, Van Aanholt (loan), Drinkwater (free), Benny Fellihaber (American guy) and made the 2 loan signings permanent. BWP couldn't even get in the team at the end of last season as Rhodes and Wood are lethal together.
RonnieTodger Posted 3 February 2012 Posted 3 February 2012 Had a great first season with FC Halifax Town. Won the BSN with 4 games to spare. In the FA Trophy final against Dorchester Town, so we should win that. Went all the way to Round 4 of the FA Cup, knocking out Frickley, Bradford PA, Southport, Cheltenham, Macclesfield and Northampton until we were beaten 8-2 by Norwich at Carrow Road. If you're in League 2 or below, sign Pablo Counago. Been a revelation for me
