shen Posted 16 April 2012 Posted 16 April 2012 Donnelly's contract expired in June 2013, and I was in June 2012 so I went to offer a new deal, he was on £1,200 a week, he wanted £3k a week which I couldn't afford, so I offered him £1,500 a week and another year (June 2015) almost for a joke and he signed. Then came the good old June 25th, budget announced - £0. £28k a week wages. Currently spending £26k. Pre-season saw me play a couple of decent home games including one against Forest which I won, in-fact I won every friendly. Could've netted more money though admittedly. Good job on extending Connolly's contract Tough but predictable budget. Obviously you should refrain from signing players on more than 1 year contracts unless you know they will be able to make the step up, or be cheap enough backup players. That way you avoid as many promotion bonuses as possible. Didn't you arrange a pre-season tournament? The crux of those is that two preferably higher reputation clubs than your own will play at least one game at your stadium, which could give as much or more than a regular home match for you. And yes, physical stats are immensely important in FM.

And yes, physical stats are immensely important in FM. I pretty much have done, pain in the arse renewing them all but it's worth it. Donnelly was a bit of a miracle to be fair, how I got away with adding another cheeky year in there and going well below his demands, beyond me, he's tied up for 3 years now, he's cutting this league too but Godsmark is the unbelievable one, absolute class in every game so far and he was one of the main ones to replace. Looks like I've wasted it a bit there but no worries, I think I've made some decent money, and incredibly last season we announced a profit. Getting 90k at Wembley's contributed to that IMO.
Narborough_fox Posted 16 April 2012 Posted 16 April 2012 Just came 2nd in my first A-League season with Gold Coast United and won the post season so qualified for the Champions League! Still only attracting crowds of 4,000 which I think is bizzare. Signed Soderberg (sp), Wesolowski, Vicius, Wladimir Bayramow and James Brown. Not going to win the Champions League but it will be good to attract some good crowds and get a bit of money into the club.
Dan Posted 17 April 2012 Posted 17 April 2012 Are you doing that Pentagon thing? I'd actually love to give that a go to be fair, just a shame I ain't got 12 and if I did it on 11 it would go ridiculously slow. Will try it on a future FM on a future laptop.

Yeah I am, no chance I'll finish it! Good fun though, taking an unknown team and making them bigger.

Yeah - decided to give it a go... no doubt I will get bored of it eventually, but for now...its going quite well Yeah I am, no chance I'll finish it! Good fun though, taking an unknown team and making them bigger. I've been quite lucky with my teams so far, people getting sacked at just the right time! Once I win it in Africa (shouldn't take too long now, I am clear at the top of the South African League, with a really good young team), I think I will go to the USA. I want to get that country over and done with - it is an absolute nightmare to manage there, what with draft picks and allocation funds and salary caps!
Dan Posted 18 April 2012 Posted 18 April 2012 If you're patient then it is do-able, just as long as you've got an idea of what you're doing. I mean I'll get Fleetwood to the Prem eventually, anyone can but it could take me 15 seasons. I'd hope not but still.
Ozwin Posted 18 April 2012 Posted 18 April 2012 I need a team to start with. I won the quad with Leicester and then just stopped, it was like I completed that game. I want to start as someone exotic, I might do that Pentagon challenge but starting off unemployed sounds like a right ball ache.

You get a good 10 or 12 jobs to pick from right at the start of the game. It's pretty easy to get a job if apply for loads!
Ozwin Posted 18 April 2012 Posted 18 April 2012 Yeah I ended up doing it, went on holiday thinking I'd have to wait a bit but bam, about 10 jobs offered to me straight away. I took Gold Coast United and signed the mighty Paul Henderson for the lulz. I didn't realise there was a stupid wage cap thing though til now so offering Stuart Parnaby 12k a week kind of ****ed things up.
MPH Posted 18 April 2012 Posted 18 April 2012 What still bugs me about the game is that the TV money for the season is still not added to the bank account....
shen Posted 18 April 2012 Posted 18 April 2012 What still bugs me about the game is that the TV money for the season is still not added to the bank account.... It is. Just not in one big lump sum as in older versions. It's a monthly figure which added up gives the total sum you see in the news item at the start of the season.
Darkon84 Posted 19 April 2012 Posted 19 April 2012 Currently destroying Serie B with my Sampdoria side. Just got to January, unbeaten, averaging over 3 goals per game and conceding less than 1 per game Oxlade Chamberlain on loan is an absolute monster, coupled with Mournier on the other wing, are tearing the league a new a-hole. I was a touch silly and shelled out £1.7 million for Bamba, but is been truly justified, he has been a rock alongside Madlung (on loan). One of my most enjoyable saves fo a while Oh, and to make things even peachier, I've already got Yaya Sanogo on loan for the season, and even though he doesnt get much game time, he has still agreed to join me on a free next season, along with Alberto Paloschi
GLC Posted 19 April 2012 Posted 19 April 2012 Managed to sign Caros Fierro on a free transfer for Hinkley in BSP, he only wanted 1.2k a week this is on Ipad though
cityfanlee23 Posted 19 April 2012 Posted 19 April 2012 I was just wondering if anybody would be interested in a blog for Football manager 2012 as i have seen quite a few and decided i may give it a go if anybody was interested! I have been leicester city for about 6 seasons, and with an average of around £1m per year to spend and wage budget maxed out, i cannot really challenge enough, my best position was 4th, the team recieved around £60m for tv rights, £18m for finishing in 4th, and around £4m for winning the F.A Cup, so with the wage budget not going over and making a profit last year of £22m (I spent ages sorting out the finances) They give me £1m to spend and expect me to challenge for the title! Sod that, my players are getting on and need money to spend to even have a squeek so im, bored of the save! As people may know im a fan of Neil Warnock, and i adapt his management style into my game with good effect and organise tactics around my team. As im now abit bored of using leicester, Im considering a Sheffield united game, and wondered if there was enough interest for me to blog it on here? And if there is enough interest how would you like me to about it, Month periods, 3 month, 6 month or seasonal? Lee

Good luck let us know how you get on!

I have found over a few seasons some very good cheap players that can play at league 1 level to start with, going on to be world class, Im starting a sheffield united save, so will sign them up and get some class loans in for league 1 like Ebanks blake, and hopefully spend the cash on the likes of yaya sanogo (ill bid first day of the game) and offer 5m over 48 months (the board take over and accept) and his wages are fine to start with... Wish me luck, Ill need it

Finnegan Posted 20 April 2012 Posted 20 April 2012 I've literally never left one club for another on FM before. I start with a team and I carry on til I get bored then I start another game. But I just got approached by Barca, it's 2014 and Messi is at his peak. Tempting.
