Callabinho Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 If we play 3 a the back in this league we will get smashed every game!
Father Ted Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 Schmeichel Peltier Mills Tunchev Konchesky Bamba Abe Gallagher King Schlupp Nugent 4-2-3-1 similar to what we were playing last season when at our best. subs: St.Ledger, Fernandes, Dyer, Beckford, Howard.
Bettsj2 Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 Even Stringer and Young said it on the radio after the game. Apparently Mills "Was trying to be clever." **** knows what they were watching.
cc_star Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 Kasper Mills Bamba Tunchev Peltier -------------------- Konch Fernandes Abe ------------- Wellens Nugent - Schlupp Fernandes won't be in though as he's on his way out for reasons of his own choosing. I have severe doubts about Konch's usefulness in attack, I see Forest are going to enter negotiations to extend Cunningham's loan, perhaps we can sneak in or we have Taft on our books who's appeared for Eng U-19's and it may be worth having a look, but as no one ever mentions him he may be a millions miles off for al I know. I think we'll see the 4-3-3 formation that we finished the Ipswich game with, we just don't have the players to play anything else, even though the 4-3-3 was so woeful earlier in the season, our personnel are geared to it. Not sure on the personnel but something similar to Kasper Peltier - Mills - Bamba - Konch Abe - Wellens - Danns Beckford - Nugent - Schlupp Bring on the transfer window
Bettsj2 Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 i agree with Betts ie bring in Tunch to marshall defence, let Bamba provide some muscle in midfield, Fernaddes some mobilty and decent forward passes, no doubt NP wont gamble or give fringe players a chance, if the strikers get some decent service i can see us winning this one 3-1 THIS
Bettsj2 Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 Kasper Mills Bamba Tunchev Peltier -------------------- Konch Fernandes Abe ------ Wellens Nugent - Schlupp Fernandes won't be in though as he's on his way out for reasons of his own choosing. cc_star Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 Wing backs? It's not 1996. More about getting 3 in the middle at the back, in the vain hope that one of them will pick up an opposing player
Bettsj2 Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 More about getting 3 in the middle at the back, in the vain hope that one of them will pick up an opposing player All that would happen is they'd get in each others way. If two can't communicate effectively then three have no chance. Bamba plays like a midfielder so play him in midfield. Tunch and Mills or Mills and St Ledger would be more solid. As soon as the ball comes anywhere near the box they'll just hoof it clear and leave it to the midfield to win it and start the attacks. Deffo agree with you that the transfer window cant come quickly enough. As time goes on, the squad that Sven assembled looks more and more disjointed.
Mack Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 Cost us the goal against Ipswich, people rave about him when he pushes forward, but two points on this, 1- he is in the team in defence, this means his first objective should be to defend, and I think we have better central defenders at the club. 2- when he does go on one of his forrays up the pitch, he doesn't seem to have the ball under control a lot of the time, indeed against Ipswich in the 2nd half he ran from our box to the middle of their half but in that space the ball bounced off 2 of their players and back to him before he finally lost it. Thought the match at home a few weeks ago when mills and St ledger were the partnership they defended brilliantly individually and as a partnership, give them 3 or 4 matches together and I think they could give us a solid base on which to build. I still dont think he was soley to blame for the goal Ipswich scored. 1 Abe gave the ball away poorly. 2 Mills was out of position 3 Abe got back and then stood like a statue as the ball came in (Granted Bamba did the same) 4 It was shit defending all round, not just Bamba. I think Bamba is one of the few positive players in our side currently and deserves his place. People keep saying he makes mistakes but thinking back I cant think of many at all, whereas with Mills the amount of stray passes and poor tackles are numerous.

Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 Has anyone ever thought why Bamba goes on these crazy runs? Not because he's a show off or trying to impress the crowd but half the time the team are doing nothing, we've not got one player in our team that skips round players like he does. Against Ipswich we were one down, there was no creativity, no movement so he decides to have a go - I credit him for it. He's showing he doesn't want to loose and actually wants to get us back in the game unlike half the side that just stand there and don't actually give a crap.

Needs some loan time at L2/L1 level first IMHO.

Guest Col city fan Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 Kasper Peltier -- St. Ledger -- Tunchev -- Konchesky Danns -- Abe -- Fernandes Nugent -- Beckford -- Dyer/Schlupp What!!! No wellens??

red5 Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 The Ipswich goal was Kaspers fault, he called for it then never went, abe and bamba are seen leaving it for him. And how you can leave bamba out and play mills is mind boggling, mills is dreadful, ssl is far a better player.
Fox92 Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 What!!! No wellens?? Don't give me a Col. You know I am a Wellens fan as much as you are. Everything does come through him, however, I think he needs a rest and I think the midfield needs changing.
gazfox9 Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 I'd like : Kasper Pelts Mills Tunchev Konchesky Abe Bamba Fernandes Gally Nugent Beckford. 4 4 2, Bamba in midfield with Fernandes, with Gally and Abe left and right. Appreciate not a lot of width in that side, buts thats what happens when you have no wingers in the squad. The midfield has been crap of late, so a radical change is what I'd like to see. Also to prove a point thats nobodies place is safe. Realise this won't happen but hey ho.
Oh tommy wright Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 I think Howard should play up front on his own as the loan striker. His pace, powerful shooting and ariel ability will scare any defence in the premiership. I think we should play all our outstanding midfielders, who are so creative in the middle of the park. Oh yes and drop Kasper, as he shows no passion for our great club with its great fans such as the amazing fat bloke with a drum who represents everything that is great with the modern game... ... Sorry just really fed up with it all at the moment. I do actually believe with the obvious exception of Howard we have the players to get out of this league. Yes we need that one player in the middle of the park that can see the pass that wellens and others can't but I still, stupidly I know, believe we can't get out this league. 6-0 against Pompey happy new year! Ah shit I forgot Pearson is manager well 1-0 will do.
marbelladave Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 The only person I have heard spout that bollocks was Alan Young on the way home the other night. Bamba was the only one to try and get something going against Ipswich, in fact at one point he was playing defence and midfield and doing it better than King and Mills put together. In my opinion if you want to point the finger at a frailty at the back look no further than Matt Mills. He may have cost a lot of dosh but to suggest his performances are the fault of Bamba is a joke. Mills has struggled to live up to his overinflated price tag, has made numerous mistakes, been sent off twice and passed the ball worse than anyone who has played in defence for us this season. In addition for me his attitude is suspect when as club captain and serving a ban because of a dodgy tackle he went on a jolly up in London rather than travel with the team and give them his support. He has played with St Ledger at the back for us this term also and showed no sign of an improved performance in the absence of Bamba. Bamba also often gets his head on corners (something I have never seen Mills do once) and even though he has not put one in he is consistently on the end of them trying his best. As I said, I do not actually believe this, just reporting views expressed, quite rationally for once, in a forum 'in another place'. I thought there was some mileage in this as a) Bamba can be somewhat unpredictable and b) our defence remains disorganised and prone to error. Didn't know that this came from Young, almost certainly means it is complete bollox if that is the case......
