Guest Col city fan Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 Really bored of your negativity. Amen to that... I'm really bored of him saying the same fookin thing in every fookin post
Charl91 Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 What amazes me is that despite trying to buy a team in the summer and it not coming togethr, we now have total faith in buying an average Championship striker for £3m as if that is going to be the thing that takes us up. When will anyone notice that it takes time, team spirit and faith of the fans to propel a team forward, not splashing cash, especially on another player who shines in the Doncaster team!! I agree. When Sharp fails to score after ten games, it will be "he's crap, buy another striker". He might be in amazing form for Doncaster, but it doesn't mean that form will continue when he comes to us. We can buy striker after striker after striker, but I don't think it's the strike-force that is the problem. People seem to think the answer to everything is buy another player.

No one wants to replace Nugent. It's Beckford people aren't happy with. People feel Sharp would be an improvement. Personally, despite the fact I don't rate our midfield any more than most people, I think Sharp would have scored 7 or 8 had he been here instead of Beckford so far. Buying more players is, sadly, the only answer, because our squad at the minute isn't good enough. I'm happy to give players time but in return I expect some improvement after 4 months.
JmorsonLCFC Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 Since when has tackling been a top priority or high requirement for playing as an attacking midfielder? He can whip a ball in. I don't like that he floats his corners in but Nugent has scored twice from Gallagher crosses (Burnley away and Portsmouth at home). It's not his fault that we rarely score from his crosses. He brings little but he is still bringing more to games than others in the squad at the moment. he's not a striker and everyone needs to get back and tackle, what i mean is when he loses the ball, 90% of the time he cant get it back. and he doesnt head the ball every, and if we dont score from his crosses what is his use??

I didn't say he was a striker? It's not solely his fault we don't score from his crosses, is it? And I've already mentioned we have scored (at least) twice from his crosses. Why is some of the blame not put on some of the players in the box who aren't winning the headers from said crosses?

Guest Col city fan Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 Let's get things clear about Gally as I see it Just my opinion: 1. I still believe that he is the best crosser/passer of the ball that we have. I think he's made to look worse than he actually is because we have no target man for him to aim at. Sometimes Nuge gets his head on something, but Beckford hardly ever does. I don't believe this is due to Gally being inaccurate with his deliveries, but more down to our front two rarely getting to the balls he puts in. 2. Technically I believe he's our best player 3. He IS a luxury player. When we are controlling the game and he has time to 'do his stuff' he can make a big impact. When we are defending and on the back foot, he's too lightweight in the air and in the tackle to assist the defensive players. 4. I don't believe he's a 'wide man'.. He neither has the pace nor the positional awareness to beat a full back and to whip in a cross to an on- running attacker. THIS is exactly the type of wide man we need to get the best out of Beckford.. If that's ever going to happen 5. I think he would be best played in front of a midfield two. 6. Gallys all round game IMO is not of sufficient quality for a team supposedly mounting a promotion campaign. I'd rather see true, out and out wide players with pace and dribbling ability to put defences on their back foot. I would sacrifice Gally for this type of player.
ajthefox Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 Although our midfield has been shite, Sharp has been playing for a team who have been bottom of the table for half the season so far. Granted they probably cater their play to him more than we do Nugent or Beckford, but if he's scored 7 or 8 with them, surely he must be able to put a fair few away for us?
acooling08 Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 Will people stop going on about Gallagher in the Billy Sharp thread....
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 Lets get this point about Gallagher straight. What does 'technically the best player actually mean?'. To me it is meaningless and irrelevant. Think he offers almost listtle. We cant afford to keep playing him in the off chance he scores a penalty or a free kick, and lets face it, he scores probably one free kick in 15/20. And in the last few matches we have looked more likely to score from Danns' corners than his.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 Billy Sharp fee agreed rattle rattle rattle Gally rattle rattle rattle Gally wtf?

seenitall Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 All this in a thread that has managed to slag off the majority of our current midfield and strike force. I think my point is that the poor sap hasn't got a cat in hells chance with you lot, unless he makes Aguero look shit. It's good news that he isn't classed as a willy puller before he arrives though, might buy him a couple of games grace.
seenitall Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 So what would you have done in the summer dragged in a load of loan players again. Sven had no choice but to buy as our squad was so weak. Any manager would of and our owners said they did'nt want loan players like last season. Also lets look at what we have bought in Kasper first choice. Back four all Svens buy's untill Tunch just returned from loan and serrious injury. Midfield Sven got most of it wrong so sticking with the old guard. King debatable Wellens Dyer and Gally getting past it now. Danns Abe n King may do it but we need wide men. Up front Nugent doing it the rest nahhh Becks may or may not with better support. Howard to old n to slow Waggy n schlupp not reall proven. Vassell long term injury but I guess NP would play him if fit. So out off all Svens buy's 5 at the back and 2 up front other than odd little change NP is picking them to. So please explain to me how you would have done it different. Or would you have taken us down with the rest of the crap we have at the club. The crap most want rid of. I agree with you, I would have bought more players in the summer not less, then I would have given the new team half a season to gel and if I was more than a game or two off the play offs would have maybe changed the management, anything less and would have continued to build the team. Most of the dimwits on the board want the old team and old managemnt because they were happy winning in League 1 Same old points but what has changed in the past 2 months to suggest there is something new to talk about, poor performances, bitching from leicester fans because they aren't top of the league, crap board and trying to buy our way out of trouble. Would love to be talking about something new but hey ho
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 Breaking news "Gally - fee not agreed, we arent selling him and its not the news were suposed to be discussing of this fooking thread"

Time of the month mate? , no its not period time , i just keep looking at this thread for genuine news of what will hopefully be a decent signing for City to see the usual "he's shit no he's not" malarky going on. At least Wellens isnt being blamed for the global crisis today

Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 It's not meaningless. If you don't understand what people mean when they are talking about a players technical skill then I despair. Well when does techncial skills ever come into play, and on what grounds is he 'technically' better than anyone else? If technical skill makes a good player then we should be signing all the football freestylers.
Kitchandro Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 Well when does techncial skills ever come into play, and on what grounds is he 'technically' better than anyone else? If technical skill makes a good player then we should be signing all the football freestylers. I'll give you an example, Lloyd Dyer. In fact, lets just say Usain Bolt. Imagine Usain sprinting down the wing, he's beaten everybody, then he has to go and kick the ball, and scuffs it. Say he does this every time. He is a shit footballer. Of course tehnical skills are important. It's the lack of technical skill that is letting so many of our other players down. Gallagher is let down by other things, no doubt, and if he performs like yesterday he shouldn't be in the team. But if technical skill isn't important why would we want players like Sharp? I tell you what, lets get Akinbiyi and Trevor Benjamin back!
Adster Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 Fvcking hell. Shut the **** up about Gallagher! Go make your own thread if you want to discuss him.
