I am Rod Hull Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 No doubt he will come here and turn into a fooking banjo swinger..
Guest ttfn Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 if there is any truth in this.......http://www.footballf...for-Billy-Sharp don't see anyone matching it It's not just the money. I can see someone like Wigan coming in, who can offer Premier League football, or a top-of-the-table Championship side who will most probably provide it next season. We're going nowhere fast.
Head Honcho Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 I remember the same kind of euphoria when we bought Beckford so I'll reserve judgement until he starts banging them in!
Guest Col city fan Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 I`m sure billy will do that with the service we are providing at the mo... From the little I heard on the radio it sounded Danns had a great game and that the strikers couldn't score in the proverbial brothel! Are you STILL persisting with laying all the blame at the feet of 'supply' I heard Stringer going potty at one point because Beckford simply refuses to jump to head a ball!! lol What's true and what ain't! I've reached the conclusion that unless you are there you really have no idea cos both on the radio and on here so many peeps seem so biased!!
Guest shearfox Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 I remember the same kind of euphoria when we bought Beckford so I'll reserve judgement until he starts banging them in! Sharp is actually proven at this level, a bit different I think...
wattolcfc Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 I went and he was dogshit, made no effort and offered nothing attack wise apart from giving the ball away. I remember at one point he did something great only to smash the shot high and wide.. AWFUL. Sharp for City!!!

It's a bit early to be pencilling him into the team, that's for sure. All that's happened is we've matched the release clause, doesn't necessarily mean Sharp intends to come here, and any other club with an interest knows now exactly what they need to pay to be able to talk to him. I wouldn't be surprised if at least one other club match the bid within the next 48 hours. And if we have bid big for Sharp I hope to god there's some funds left for at least 2 wingers - Dyer and Gally have got to go !!
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 Sharp is actually proven at this level, a bit different I think... Ive heard he even runs for the ball aswell something JB seems reluctant to do
Guest Col city fan Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 Ive heard he even runs for the ball aswell something JB seems reluctant to do It sounds like today's game demonstrates yet again just how much we need a proven goal scorer in the team. Someone to support Nuge in his solitary quest for goals. Having someone who can hit the back of the net sounded the problem for both sides today unless I'm mistaken?
Yojoe36 Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 I like Sharp. Don't want him though. FFS OUR MIDFIELD IS ABSENT AND WE GET A STRIKER??!!
The Doctor Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 To paraphrase Rafa Benitez - "We need a lamp, so we're getting 5 sofas". We need some creativity in our midfield, until then we could have a front two of Pele & Bebeto - we'd still score less than a morbidly obese homeless person with a serious case of brick wall face.
Cropwellfox Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 I like Sharp. Don't want him though. FFS OUR MIDFIELD IS ABSENT AND WE GET A STRIKER??!! This. Would far rather we got a battering ram striker to play alongside Nugent /Waggy / Beckford, would probably cost less and mean we could invest more in midfield, where we just don't have enough quality.
deep blue Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 From the little I heard on the radio it sounded Danns had a great game and that the strikers couldn't score in the proverbial brothel! Are you STILL persisting with laying all the blame at the feet of 'supply' Yes, the comparative stats were revealing for "shots on target" and "shots off target". For Leicester it was 1:8, for Forest 5:1 (maybe a little exaggerated, but you get the drift). Doesn't look like service was a problem today, but rather the ability of our strikers to hit the target, never mind score. That's not to say the midfield doesn't need strengthening too.
dog_4 Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 danns looked good in central midfield! quick and energetic! nigel will be after anouther winger! but kebe and who? we have 3 options then so definately one more winger! 2 either side! sorted! x
m00nie Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 I like Sharp. Don't want him though. FFS OUR MIDFIELD IS ABSENT AND WE GET A STRIKER??!! you really if this happens it will be our only transfer in the window?? chill out
dannythefox Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 People still fvcking moaning were not going to change the whole team to suit Beckford! Sharp is the man for the job!
Yojoe36 Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 you really if this happens it will be our only transfer in the window?? chill out I know, I know. Sorry. I suppose it's just frustration on how SHIT our midfield was today.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 People still fvcking moaning were not going to change the whole team to suit Beckford! Sharp is the man for the job! This
mattsmith74 Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 Encouraging it it goes thru but I genuinely felt that Beckford was a top signing and look what's happened there. Everyone saying on here we need midfielders and I reckon Pearson on the case. Captaincy an issue too I reckon. Mills needs to concentrate on finding form. I'd give it to Konchesky or Kaspar.
The Doctor Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 People still fvcking moaning were not going to change the whole team to suit Beckford! Sharp is the man for the job! No and we don't necessarily need to change it to suit him, we need to change it to suit strikers in general, they can fashion a few chances from the limited supply (like Nugent) but if we want any of them to flourish, then we need to adapt to actually get supply to them. Oh, and I don't think getting the ball in behind rather than pinging it at beckford's head and expecting it to stick is that much of a change.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 Billy Sharp to talk to Leicester City - Dean Saunders http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/d/doncaster/9673438.stm Audio
Lettsy Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 wingers wingers wingers,we need wingers to supply the forwards We also need someone in the middle to supply Sharp/Becks/Nugent through the defenders and help out our defenders. Need a ball winner and a creator. But this is old news. Needed this since Muzzy left.
Guest shearfox Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 Anyone who is saying we didn't create chances today are just being silly, we created enough to score 2 maybe 3 goals, a natural goalscorer like sharp is needed.
