Matt Posted 8 January 2012 Author Posted 8 January 2012 Probably the single most frustrating player at the club. No pace, no strength, no general athleticism, no bottle, no fighting spirit, easily knocked confidence, delusional sense of ability, horrendous inconsistency, woeful corners and a terrible strike rate (especially when you take out the penalties) and you tell me what exactly anyone's supposed to get excited about him for? A couple of wonder-goals every other season? I think Mills and Beckford rival that statement. Granted attacking wise/goal threat wise I'll let Mills get away with, I'll replace it with risk of getting sent off every game, dodgy tackling, dodgy defending, lack of communication and poor leadership though.
Babylon Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 Bit of a myth about not creating enough chances for Beckford. I've seen him miss at least a dozen sitters since he has been here.
JmorsonLCFC Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 Gallagher? Why? cant run, cant head the ball, cannot tackle. people say he can whip a ball in but we rarely score from his crosses. he brings very little to the game
Spiritwalker Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 Why is everyone so sure that Nugent and Sharp won't be a good partnership? They might be great together. On the issue of creating chances , yesterday we created at least 4 great chances that a top draw finisher would have buried.
Guest Col city fan Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 Bit of a myth about not creating enough chances for Beckford. I've seen him miss at least a dozen sitters since he has been here. Was having this conversation last night... Couldn't agree more about Beckford. The excuses have become boring I think the reality is this... And yes, I know, it's pessimistic.. A lot of the players in our squad are just not good enough to get us promotion. The midfield is weak... Gally blows hot but mostly cold, King is pretty average at the moment I'm afraid and Wellens looks like he could become merely a 'super sub'. Beckfords form is that of a relegation bound striker, let alone one pushing for promotion. Danns looks to be improving but has not yet shown anything much to speak of. Defensively, I think we are good... This is the foundation to build on, but going forward and scoring goals we are just bad. I'd love to see Sharp here but, in isolation, I fear he can only paper over the cracks of a team which is devoid of attacking flair. And in that I mean every attacking player, except Nugent.

I agree all this talk about under achieving this season I just do not think our current team is good enough to get promoted regardless of which manager is in charge. Some people I know are abit unsure wherever Sharp would be an improvement and its no suprise really considering we have taken a step back with many of our signings but despite our cash the list of clubs selling decent strikers is a very short 1
seenitall Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 Or ishe another big money signing (more than Beckford) whose career is doomed by playing for the over expectant Leicester crowd, lets see how his standing is after a couple of games (or possibly one)
Happy Fox Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 Does anyone else remember the partnership of Beckford and Sharp for Scunny wasn't that quite prolific?
HEGGSY Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 Does anyone else remember the partnership of Beckford and Sharp for Scunny wasn't that quite prolific? He did score 8 in 18 which is still better than what he got for us.
cc_star Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 'Cos he's shit? Probably the single most frustrating player at the club. Happy Fox Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 He did score 8 in 18 which is still better than what he got for us. So perhaps they could work together.
phillo Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 billy and david up front come on lets get some wingers now
acooling08 Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 If we sign Sharp + Kebe + Stewart I may get an erection.
AoWW Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 If we sign Sharp + Kebe + Stewart I may get an erection. Blimey, takes a lot to get you excited.
wellyfox Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 Do we know when the talks are. Any ITK's got a clue???
Narborough_fox Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 People moaning about the amount of strikers we'll have just put it this way. Beckford - Under performing Howard - Fat and Lazy Waghorn - What's he done since the play-offs? Nugent - Consistent Schlupp - Out for 8 weeks Yes we may have 5 strikers but only 1 of them has been consistently scoring this season.
Adster Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 Well I imagine we will want to get personal terms agreed as quickly as possible before other clubs come in for him. So i'd presume Monday..
StanSP Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 cant run, cant head the ball, cannot tackle. people say he can whip a ball in but we rarely score from his crosses. he brings very little to the game Since when has tackling been a top priority or high requirement for playing as an attacking midfielder? He can whip a ball in. I don't like that he floats his corners in but Nugent has scored twice from Gallagher crosses (Burnley away and Portsmouth at home). It's not his fault that we rarely score from his crosses. He brings little but he is still bringing more to games than others in the squad at the moment.
seenitall Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 What amazes me is that despite trying to buy a team in the summer and it not coming togethr, we now have total faith in buying an average Championship striker for £3m as if that is going to be the thing that takes us up. When will anyone notice that it takes time, team spirit and faith of the fans to propel a team forward, not splashing cash, especially on another player who shines in the Doncaster team!!

So what would you have done in the summer dragged in a load of loan players again. Sven had no choice but to buy as our squad was so weak. Any manager would of and our owners said they did'nt want loan players like last season. Also lets look at what we have bought in Kasper first choice. Back four all Svens buy's untill Tunch just returned from loan and serrious injury. Midfield Sven got most of it wrong so sticking with the old guard. King debatable Wellens Dyer and Gally getting past it now. Danns Abe n King may do it but we need wide men. Up front Nugent doing it the rest nahhh Becks may or may not with better support. Howard to old n to slow Waggy n schlupp not reall proven. Vassell long term injury but I guess NP would play him if fit. So out off all Svens buy's 5 at the back and 2 up front other than odd little change NP is picking them to. So please explain to me how you would have done it different. Or would you have taken us down with the rest of the crap we have at the club. The crap most want rid of.
