The Doctor Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 to what Our strike force. It's as likely to score as that person I described.
MC Prussian Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 Great signing, but like many others, I reserve judgement until we've signed at least two quality midfielders/wingers and shipped Wellens out.
Kitchandro Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 Very much doubt we'll complete this until Monday at the earliest. So we'll sign him on deadline day then
Charl91 Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 Still not convinced it's a good idea. As others said, I don't think our strike-force is the problem. I wonder how long before our fans round on him, if he doesn't come up with the goods. Though I would like to see a 4-3-3 with Nugent, Sharp and Beckford.....
FoxTrott Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 Really would be great to have Sharp here. Hope it won't mean the end of Beckford, he has much more to come. But as many have said, this signing is worthless unless we sign a decent playmaker. The only reason I think Beckford isn't scoring buckets at the minute is that he just isn't getting the service.

Or maybe it's because he's blazing it over the bar from inside the box and heading over from a yard
FoxTrott Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 Or maybe it's because he's blazing it over the bar from inside the box and heading over from a yard You really don't like Beckford do you?... ...Although I have been seeing quite a bit of your posts lately and it is quite difficult to fathom any optimism at all - all in the Leicester genes I suppose
JmorsonLCFC Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 kebe and sharp in, gallagher and wellens gone would be pukka

Most worrying thing about today was his half chances weren't even close to troubling the keeper.
MikeyT Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 Great signing, but like many others, I reserve judgement until we've signed at least two quality midfielders/wingers and shipped Wellens out. That won't happen though will it.
Jimmy Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 Donny fans say he's exactly like Beckford, will do **** all for ages and not look interested all game unless he gets the right service, I'll give him 3 games before people are jeering him
MikeyT Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 Spaff Jizz in my pants. Amazing news, we need him we look like we have got him. Well done Top and Pearson.
MC Prussian Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 That won't happen though will it. There's always the loan option...
StanSP Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 kebe and sharp in, gallagher and wellens gone would be pukka Gallagher? Why?
Finnegan Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 Gallagher? Why? 'Cos he's shit? Probably the single most frustrating player at the club. No pace, no strength, no general athleticism, no bottle, no fighting spirit, easily knocked confidence, delusional sense of ability, horrendous inconsistency, woeful corners and a terrible strike rate (especially when you take out the penalties) and you tell me what exactly anyone's supposed to get excited about him for? A couple of wonder-goals every other season? I appreciate I'm being a little harsh, he's certainly good enough for a mid-table side in the Championship. But are we not aspiring to be something better than that? He'd be fairly high on my list of dead wood to ship out - along with other fans' favourites Howard and Wellens. We've been kidding ourselves for too long, if you want to get out of this division you need better players than that - we're where we are for a reason.

It's not harsh at all, the guy is absolutely dreadful and offers very little, it gets even worse in the winter because I'm convinced he's the only Scot I've seen who is scared of the cold. Problem is in April he will bag a hat trick V someone and that secures him a place again for 6 months.
burni Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 Lets hope strikers dont start to get peed off if he comes. that will make it nugent, waghorn, beckford, gallager, shlupp, sharp, howard. i really thought we needed a target man but nige knows what he needs!, his neck on the line....

Waghorn won't last here, Howard's on the way out, Gallagher is essentially a midfielder, Schlupp has a long way to go yet and we're probably going to end up making a loss on Beckford in the summer.
StanSP Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 I'd say it's harsh because he hasn't performed as badly as Howard and Wellens, who are more warranted of a place outside the squad. Gallagher is the only player who offers some creativity in the squad right now. Not a large amount, but at least it's some. It'd be harsh if Pearson suddenly decided he was 'shit' and decides to tell him to find a new club when there's other and much worse tripe still in the squad.

Our only option at the moment if we do get players in who are better and offer creativity from the wing positions, and a playmaker then he can go if not stick him on the bench.
dpjfox Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 im sure the wages wont be a problem, maybe just the travelling from his Sheffield home (or a late swoop by a closer to home prem club)

We can count Beckford out apparently he doesn't mind it on the bench because its less far to walk to the changing rooms at half time
leicesterseddon Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 I'm sure he's a good player, but I'm not sure what he's going to bring to us to be honest. Based on the way we're approaching games, the only player we could really do with up-front who would actually give us a better chance of winning games is a target man to fight for the aerial balls we seem to be lumping up the field. He could be an effective player if the team around him is strengthened. But that's what I'm worried about - I think NP has correctly identified our need for wingers, but I fear that by the end of the transfer window we'll be left with the same central midfield partnerships involving Wellens, King, Abe, Danns, etc. and the same problems with creating chances, keeping possession and protecting the back four.

You make some valid points can Nugent and Sharp work together they are both carbon copy's of each other what we desperately need is a target man to work alongside Nugent/Beckford
ian the fox Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 Lets hope it doesnt offend our non scoring strikers , who cant hit a barn door with a banjo
