Well, another shite home performance by the lads. From listening to Pearson's reactions today and also from his reluctance to chage the usual faces, he obviously doesn't rate the squad of players too highly as he feels that there is no-one else to turn to and is already making chages by removing Fernandes and Moreno and eventually St Ledger will go, along with a few others I'm sure.

What disapointed me was that before the Palace match we thought that Pearson had read the riot act and dropped some of the underperforming main stays, however it appears that it was due to niggly injuries and the same people are back in.

I have heard some people turning on Pearson, but for me that is totally unjust. Sven took over in October 2010, had a full summer to get his players in and then 15 games in they had underperformed. Pearson came in in October 2011 and I think he should at least get the same amount of time to do the same.

I think over the next 4 weeks Pearson will weed out the rot in this squad and I expect six or seven in now before the loan window shuts in March. I didn't think there would be that many changes, but I think Pearson has assessed it properly by now and realises bigger change is needed.

After todays performance and many previous, we need major midfield overhaul, with I think Andy King being the only one I would keep in the starting 11. He is very low on confidence at the moment, but his quality will return. We need a midfielder who is going to get stuck in in the middle of the park, plus two wide men who can get quality service in to the box. Cotterill on a free could be a bit of brilliance, a gamble, but has performed at this level before.

One thing Pearson wont do, is be held to Ransom, unlike a panicky Swede with his cheque book.

To win almost any football match you need to have seven or eight of your players doing well. We perhaps had four today who could have left the field saying "I did okay". Those four would be Kasper, Konchesky, Dyer and Nugent. I don't say they played well but if everyone had given what they gave we would surely have done better.

With Vassell, Bamba, Schlupp and Fernandes missing from the squad he inherited, Pearson was truly short of positive match-affecting options.

I didn't agree with it but could at least understand his reasoning for the return of Wellens and I'd also point out that Barnsley aren't nearly as bad a side as people make out. In fact they've improved considerably more than us this season from today's evidence.

But we were second best almost everywhere today.

Tactically it was quickly evident that Vaz Te and Perkins were their key men. Did we act to subdue them? No.

Gallagher brought an excellent save by Steel from a low free-kick that some of us thought had given us the lead and Dyer's excellent equalising goal from Mills' raking pass should have improved our self-belief.

But it didn't. We looked like a little team lost, a team that lacked unity and sense of purpose, a team that knew it could no longer satisfy the expectations of the home fans - realistic or otherwise.

Our ability to pass the ball and move for each other seemed non existent and was so bad that people stopped bothering to make the runs in the end. No-one even spotted the runs let alone delivered the pass.

We didn't help each other, we got in each other's way, we argued among ourselves in fact we were very much an excuse for a football team and that wasn't just down to ability, it was down to our attitude, our complete lack of urgency and determination until the last few minutes.

Apart from one spell in the second half when we'd gone behind our support was pathetic. When the booing rang ut at the end I couldn't wait to get out. Because that's the last thing we needed.

In fact I'm beginning to believe it's probably easier for City to play away nowadays because our travelling fans are so much more supportive.

That was simply a disgrace. Blame has to lie not only with the players but also with the management team. What on earth goes on on the training pitch?

Corners/free kicks were woeful. Not only in the delivery (Gallagher is just crap most of the time) but also in planning. Balls played to where there is no one. Return passes going straight back into touch etc etc etc.

Throw ins. No idea at all here either. No movement no plan no quickness of thought and poor execution and so slow to take them.

No midfield movement off the ball.

No anticipation and reading of the game meaning Barnsley were first to just about every 50/50 ball.

No urgency.

No apparent motivation.

A manager who from his tone in interviews appears to have largely given up on certain players and there are hints in what he says of undertones of massive morale problems within the squad and problems with attitude.

No plan B. Substitutions made too late in matches to make much difference.

One way of playing which is largely to kick the ball as far down the pitch as possible and everyone to run after it.

These same players under Sven were at least able to pass the ball to one another this appears to be a skill they have either lost or had coached out of them at this current time.

Our midfield is as good as non existent. Some of our defending is Sunday league standard at best. We create very few chances and appear to have only one striker either fit or whom the manager trusts to play a full 90 minutes.

I can't think of a single positive from today's disjointed effort. we were unconvincing and poor at times under Sven but we actually seem to be getting worse with each performance.

At least 6 new players are needed. Which of course means starting team building virtually all over again.

Where would you like him delivered to? I can carry him there over broken glass if you so wish. ;)

However shit you were today, we were shitter. Cotterball has arrived. Tuesday will not be a game of free flowing attractive football.

And how come Sven signed - or had - 8 central midfielders, and we cant find 2? Wellens and King - for me - were absolutely dreadful. Forget signing a striker and a wide man, we need good central midfielders. Like Fernandes... and Abe,,, Oh, hang on, we've ditched them. Even Johnson cant be that bad can he? Bring back Oakley, he was never THAT bad. And if we're gonna play hoofball, we'll need Howard. THATS how bad it is, we need Howard! Hope Gally gets lost on the M1 going home and never returns. I'm 60, and I could play better than him, dodgy knees and all Hell, Sol the wall bamba is better in midfield, and he's a centre back! Useless bunch of tossers, they should be ashamed - Kasper, Konch and Dyer excepted.

Fvcking rightly so as well.

Now lets ditch the rest and start again.

I assume we're not all talking about the same Cotterill here?

Absolutely disgraceful performance... no fight, no heart, no spirit.

Shocking defending for both goals, and we have absolutely **** all in midfield. It says something when Lloyd Dyer looked decent compared to Gally/King etc. King was missing as usual, and when he did get the ball it doesn't take much to ease it off him... gone very downhill in the past 12 months unfortunately.

First half, got back into the game after Dyer's equaliser but then couldn't press on to win it from there; have to be beating teams like Barnsley- simply NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

Pearson's tactics were stupid today, 4-5-1 at home? Then after a dismal 1st half, he makes no changes.... fair enough giving them 5-10 mins in the 2nd to redeem themselves but everyone in the ground could see nothing was happening for us so make a change in the 55th-60th minute, not wait till the ****ing 70th giving Beckford only 20mins.

Why not bring Abe on to change it in midfield cause it was clearly, once again, useless.

What sickens me the most today though, and what makes me feel ashamed is our total lack of fight and spirit in the latter stages... shown well at the end when we had a throw-in and there was no-one within 15 yards to show for the ball asking for it- all leaving it for someone else to do; when we should be rushing to restart play being a goal down at home in a game.... only Schmeichel seemed really bothered today after the game.

I dread to think where we would be without Schmeichel's saves this season- he's one of few players I respect from the team.... although the way it's going I can't see him staying here for long... can't see us going up this season, and if his performances stay top class, I can't see a Prem Club not going after him I'm afraid...

Oh and by the way, how the **** did Adam le Fondre end up at Reading and not with us or a Premier League side?

My views on the team

Mills gets a lot of stick but is constantly be pulled out of position due to peltier tearing up the pitch leaving him to cover the hole left at right back, if he stays central and stops hitting the ball long every time he gets it he's alright

Gally only seems to contribute with dead ball delivery and nothing in general play

Wellens is average now but not as bad as some say on here

King is non existent in matches these days

Nugent good player who gives 100% every match

Beckford probably the worst touch for a professional footballer I've seen

If it wasn't for kasper we'd be alot lower down the league

Most of our goals conceded in recent games come from peltier bombing forward when we have the ball the midfield give the ball away yet again leaving the defence caught a man short and conceding poor goals

It was the same against Portsmouth, and Ipswich, and Peterborough and has been in far too many matches this season.

It's really fvcking out of order. And worrying.

I think he means David Cotterill, former swansea winger, rather than your manager.

And no, we've already had Steve Cotterill (even if it was just 6 months as a coach), not our turn to have him again.

I doubt two sets of fans have been less motivated for a derby match before.

This is true. I imagine Tuesday night is going to be a pretty miserable affair for all concerned. Never thought I'd find myself saying that about Forest at home in the cup :(

Is it just me that we play too deep football?

I mean Barnsley defence was near enough on the half way line at times!

We just don't show any passion, I would love it if Pearson doesn't give there wages for a week because they didn't show like they wanted to be at the club!

Peltier had his first bad game, yes he pushed up and attacked but doing that he didn't get back which cost us 2 goals, well I think but can't blame that, the midfield was all over the place.
