Webbo Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 No 2 players seem to divide opinions more than Abe or Wellens. Just thought we'd see what the general consensus was.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 I'm divided on this. Edit: glad to see you got the polls sorted
Mission Unlikely Promotion Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Both good players on their day, however i feel very mixed about the whole thing . . . . .
Guest Col city fan Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 I can't respond to this cos I'm shite at maths, especially division.
davieG Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 What about King, I know there's no rumours of him leaving but there seems to be plenty of fans that wished he would.

Webbo Posted 22 January 2012 Author Posted 22 January 2012 What about King, I know there's no rumours of him leaving but there seems to be plenty of fans that wished he would. Stick in another option if you want Davie. I had enough trouble sorting these 2.
robbieLOVESthealmightylcfc Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 has anyone ever seen Abe take a free kick?
davieG Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 I was getting ever so miffed. Nah! I'm sure another opportunity will arise. Well done with the poll, according to my stats I've created a 101 of them but I can't remember the last time and certainly not with the new version
NewburyFox Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 I'm glad Abe's leaving if he's on £40k a week. He's an average player and that's a ridiculous amount for a Championship club. I'm not bothered if Wellens goes providing we get a decent replacement in. I don't want to see him go if we don't have someone else ready to come in.
cc_star Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Not fussed about Abe, couldn't fulfil his job role of 'supposed' CDM, average at best. and if those wages of £40k/wk are right which they actually seem to be, we're better off without him by far Wouldn't like to see Wellens go, performance against Forest showed just how he pulls the strings once the rest of the team are up for it with plenty of movement & a desire to win the ball. If we're not going to play with movement & desire like that leaving Wellens to resort to unrealistic balls he'd be better off leaving for his own sake, not ours. Seperately, wonder if Abe going was because he was homesick (seemingly Prem clubs after him would show that he probably was by choosing to go home instead) or whether it's a cost cutting exercise now that the owners 2 year plan of bankrolling the club into the Prem looks challenging
Trav Le Bleu Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 has anyone ever seen Abe take a free kick? There you go.
SaM 12 Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 I'm glad Abe's leaving if he's on £40k a week. He's an average player and that's a ridiculous amount for a Championship club. EnderbyFox Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Don't really want to see either go. But on the whole Abe has had a stronger season than Wellens- even if he has played less games.
MikeyT Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 has anyone ever seen Abe take a free kick? Only on youtube.
NewburyFox Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 he's not on 40k a week is he? According to Stringer on Twitter. Reportedly halving his wages to £20k a week.
Tommo Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Cant help but feel sorry to see him go to be fair. Some of the performances he put in in his time here (Whilst not speaking a word of the queens at times) were pretty damn good. Grafted and wanted to get stuck in for the most part which is more than can be said about a lot of others. Cheers Yuki, and all the best
hbkkids Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Gutted abe has gone but would be even more gutted if wellness leaves
FantasticMrFuchs Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Abe - Until I realised he was on 40k a week I was gutted to see him go, But he was never played in his correct position and never allowed to take set pieces which were his speciality so in my opinion it was the right thing to let him go Back to Japan. His Wife & Kids are still there so fair play to him , He's done the right thing. Wellens - Doesn't perform to his capabilities week in week out, Trains only 3 days a week yet walks into the squad. Can't see him leaving though unless it was part of the Snodgrass deal.
Fox92 Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 You missed option 3. Gallagher - want him to leave? Yes
Corky Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Abe never really settled into the team, maybe he wasn't strong enough and being shoved about the midfield can't have helped. Am I sad to see him go? I don't think we ever saw the best of him on a consistent basis, through various reasons, so in a way I am. With Wellens, he's reached his peak for me and will go downhill in the future. Can be replaced and probably should be soon.
StanSP Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Not glad Abe's leaving. But if he's not comfortable here away from his family for long periods of time, then I'm glad we haven't stopped him. Equally glad we haven't had a Tevez scenario on our hands. I'll miss him and welcome him back should he ever return. I don't wish Wellens would leave right now, but I think he will in summer. How old is he? 31? Depending on how he plays til end of April, these might be the last few months we see of him in a City shirt. But no, I don't wish that he'd leave.
Babylon Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 They are both ok, but I wouldn't rely on either of them getting us out of this league.
Captain... Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 I think we never played to Abe's strengths, he is the kind of player that sits in front of the back four gets back and covers well, he is not a "creative" midfielder, the problem with him is that he never had a complementary partner, Wellens and King are both traditional midfielders, can win the ball, run with it, pass it but not exactly experts in any midfield discipline. Under Sven he would have been better as the base of the diamond, but that was usually Fernandes, he has been played right back, right wing and center mid, I think he looked best in a midfield 3 mopping things up and letting others get forward. In recent games he was always there covering for Bamba and Peltier getting forward. I think that Abe is symptomatic of our squad since NP left, clearly talented but never quite realising it because of the way they have been asked to play, where they have been asked to play and the players they have been asked to play with. NP knows the squad is unabalanced is trying to rectify it, there will be some casualties, a shame we never saw the best of him, but out with the old in with the new. As for Wellens I would be surprised if he left but not disappointed, he has not been at his best this season and maybe it is time for him to move on.
