davieG Posted 28 January 2012 Posted 28 January 2012 A Leicester driver was banned from the roads for a year after being caught driving with 11 people in his car – including four in the boot. Leicester magistrates banned Zoltan Lakatos and gave him 14 days to pay £1,325 in fines and costs after hearing of his overloaded Audi A4 saloon. An Audi A4 saloon - not meant for 10 passengers Six of the passengers were children – including the four in the boot. When Lakatos, 38, of Martin Street, Belgrave, was interviewed by police, he was told of the importance of securing young children in the car. Lakatos, through a Hungarian interpreter, replied: "It doesn't matter, they are only children." Prosecutor Ian Johnson told the court how Lakatos was stopped at 10.30am in St Nicholas Circle in Leicester city centre on June 18 last year with four people in the boot and another five in the back seat. Lakatos was in the driver's seat and there was a 49-year-old woman alongside him in the front passenger seat. He said the four people in the boot – who were lying on top of each other – were an 11-year-old girl, a 10-year-old boy, a seven-year-old boy and a five-year-old girl. Mr Johnson said the five people in the back seat were a 65-year-old man, a 49-year-old woman, a 24-year-old woman, a three-year-old and a nine-month-old infant. Lakatos, who did not attend court, was found guilty in his absence of using a motor vehicle to carry passengers in such a way as to create a danger of injury to them. Mr Johnson said: "There were 11 people in that vehicle – and to add insult to injury it was not covered by any form of insurance." Lakatos was also found guilty in his absence of not having any insurance. Chairman of the bench Simon Edwards said using a motor vehicle and causing danger to passengers would normally be a lower level fine, but because of the aggravating circumstances due to the fact that there was no insurance and due to the number of persons carried, they were going to give a higher level fine. He was able to fine Lakatos the higher amount of £700 with £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge. Mr Edwards said: "Because the offence is so serious we are going to impose a 12-month discretionary driving ban that is effective from today." He also fined Lakatos £525 for driving without insurance.
I am Rod Hull Posted 28 January 2012 Posted 28 January 2012 Thats nowt, we had 12 in a Vauxhall Viva once, none in the boot...
ScouseFox Posted 28 January 2012 Posted 28 January 2012 Thought that said they'd arrested Zsolt Laczkó then.
MikeyT Posted 28 January 2012 Posted 28 January 2012 Oh my God, when I read that first line of the story I literally did, laugh out loud. What a knobhead!
rico Posted 28 January 2012 Posted 28 January 2012 " It doesn't matter, they are only children" This cnut should have been locked up !
isaidno Posted 28 January 2012 Posted 28 January 2012 On the plus side, he's now in the Guiness book of records for the most people fitted into an Audi
1964FOX Posted 28 January 2012 Posted 28 January 2012 What appals me most is his attitude towards the children a though they are completely worthless.
masterg59 Posted 28 January 2012 Posted 28 January 2012 what appals me is he was only fined £525 for havig no insurance that is only £100 over what it costs me for the year no wonder people dont have it only got to get away with it for 14 months ish and hey ho in profit.and in my opionion should have fined all the adults in the car for cruelty to children, it was all theyre responsibility surely?
rico Posted 28 January 2012 Posted 28 January 2012 what would he have got if someone had shunted into the back of him and killed those kids. he didn't turn up for court,be very surprised if they even find him to pay the fine
Zingari Posted 28 January 2012 Posted 28 January 2012 Actually , that doesn't sound any more crowded that the fookin railways
Trav Le Bleu Posted 28 January 2012 Posted 28 January 2012 In his defence, the four children in the boot were dead.
GUJJIFOX Posted 28 January 2012 Posted 28 January 2012 Lakatos, through a Hungarian interpreter, replied: "It doesn't matter, they are only children." Disgrace 1 year is nothing and so is the fine, there are too many uninsured drivers and they need to be harsher penalties than that.
DB11 Posted 28 January 2012 Posted 28 January 2012 He also fined Lakatos £525 for driving without insurance. My insurance is over £1,100 for a year Can see why some people think it's most certainly worth the risk...
breadandcheese Posted 28 January 2012 Posted 28 January 2012 At the very least, he should receive an automatic driving ban and his car impounded until he has car insurance and paid his fine.
DB11 Posted 28 January 2012 Posted 28 January 2012 At the very least, he should receive an automatic driving ban and his car impounded until he has car insurance and paid his fine. How can a banned driver get car insurance?

acooling08 Posted 28 January 2012 Posted 28 January 2012 May seem funny at first.. but 4 children in the boot. 'It doesn't matter, they're only children'. Disgusting cvnt, jail him for 10 years.
ScouseFox Posted 28 January 2012 Posted 28 January 2012 Not even slightly defending the guy, this is wrong and a bit mad. But I think his quote of "they're only children" may have been taken out of context. Not sure if some of you are purposefully ignoring the obvious and taking the piss slightly or just not thinking, but he's spoken through a Hungarian translator, and I don't know but i'd like to think "they're only children" is a poor translation of "they can fit because they're only children, hence much smaller than 6ft+ adults". Either way, he's a bellend.

mowmacrefox Posted 28 January 2012 Posted 28 January 2012 My insurance is over £1,100 for a year Can see why some people think it's most certainly worth the risk... Cus its cvnts like him are the reason why your insurance is that price
