Oh well Gav it wasn'y your best game but chin up, there's always next wekk eh?

What a strange game.

First half was worse than the Barnsley performance. We fvcked absolutely everything up, St Ledger, Gallagher and Danns were absolutely woeful and all could have been substituted at half time without complaint, though almost everyone was poor and the team display was embarrassing. St Ledger was completely dominated by Jukebox from start to finish, and the other 2 just could not find a blue shirt. This is reason one why we didn't win the game, you cannot afford to surrender 45 minutes of a match. Our goal was due to a schoolboy mix-up with neither their defender or goalkeeper dealing with a nothing ball. There was no atmosphere whatsoever, the whole stadium felt like it couldn't be arsed, myself included.

Second half was unrecognisable, the atmosphere was at least 15 times better, mainly due to that comic relief sketch where that bloke posed as a ref in a professional football match and purposefully got every single decision wrong, you know, just for laughs. Apparently he was put up to it by his mate. Anyway, I digress. He is reason number two why we didn't win, you can't win matches with that many shocking decisions against you. We pressed Boro in the second half, especially after the subs, but still we lack a creative spark. I can't wait til Marshall plays but there'll be a lot of pressure on his young shoulders.

Beckford's recent form is very encouraging, MOTM again today, unlucky with the shot against the bar, only criticism was his chance at the end of the first half when he brought it down on his chest, if he'd have kept it down it would have been a goal.

Very disappointed not to win, we deserved to but you can't win when you perform so badly for a half and have a referee in charge who should without question be sacked. I stand by what I said yesterday, we haven't brought in enough players, there were some out there tonight who just aren't good enough and we don't have a creative attacking midfielder.

With Sven in charge we'd have lost that 3-1

Sven would have invited the ref in to do the team talk and offered to take him out for dinner post match.

Beckford is the business.

Can those who were blaming him, and Sven buying him start saying sorry for our off par performances earlier in the season? It was clear that he would come good. You can't always expect a striker, no matter how much he cost, to bang them in from his first game onwards. It was clear he needed time to settle and we are finally seeing the rewards. Why anybody should be surprised by his current form is a mystery, he has a track record in this division and only needed a little faith and time.

Delfounso looks good, i hope we can extend his loan and get him permanent for next season.

We might still make the playoffs, but i think if we stay down it won't be a disaster. With Pearson, we are going to be strong next season.

If we win at Brighton then this point we gained won't be in vain, If we reach the playoffs great if not, then this squad has the nucleus of a promotion winning team next season.

Yep! Spot on....

Marshall to replace Gally for Brighton and the rest of the season likewise Drinkwater for Wellens, and someone to replace Dyer perhaps the Fonz although he prefers to be played upfront.

Imo its not in Wellens and gallaghers interest for us to go up cos they're going to get sacked. Both struggle at this level if we get promoted they're not going to be able to hack it in the prem, and they know it.

A point I should have made earlier, is, Middlesbrough were a disgrace with their spoiling tactics, this must reflect on their manager who new how week the ref was.

Big reality check. Beckford stirred the soul with some brilliant moments - and might have scored a terrific hat-trick (or more) - but, while there were some pluses - our overall lack of tempo and application left us way short f what we needed.

Mills was the worst. He just doesn't learn Three or four times he tried to punch long passes to the wing - and every time only succeeded in giving the ball away for nothing.

Once more our entire central midfield posed no goal threat whatsoever and was mostly second to the ball. Our own dead ball kicks were attrocious as ever and our so-called defence for their second goal was a mess with the wall looked about as sound as a sandcastle.

But well done Beckford for making a goal for himself out of absolutely nothing but a refreshing willingness to chase what was never more than a forlorn hope.

And thanks to for the memory of three brilliant strikes - the volley the went over, the cleverly worked strike that was turned wide by their keeper and the angled first time shot that smashed against the bar. All three efforts required genuine ability and were venomously struck on an evening when he posed a threat whenever he was close to goal.

Drinkwater's mistake for the free-kick that led to their second goal was sad because the lad helped increase our tempo noticeably in the closing stages with his energetic pass-and-move style. But there was no excuse for it.

Not that we'd have raised our game otherwise. As ever against competent opposition we went all negative once we went ahead and only stirred ourselves when we went behind. I thought beforehand the game had the makings of a draw and, although 1-1 was my guess, our approach only emphasised why we're falling ever further off the pace.

We just don't go for the throat.

I agree. They reflected everything that's bad about modern football and Mowbray should be ashamed.

We never looked a threat in the first half, the early goal aside. Set pieces were frustrating to watch, there was 2 times I remember us wanting to take free kicks early but then got pulled back. Gally's corners were again rubbish. Hopefully we'll see Marshall/Drinkwater be given chances to take a few perhaps? Beckford was non-existent for the majority until his 2 efforts towards the end, our inability to keep the ball in the centre of the park didn't help his cause.

Enough negativity though because we looked much much better when Drinkwater and The Fonz came on. Both of their movement was great off the ball and were eager to get touches, which allowed us to pin them back during the second half. Danns was then able to push forward and he made a couple of good chances for Beckford who was unlucky not to score.

Sloppy play from Drinkwater, blah blah blah, goal. Great goal mind you. Completely against the run of play but a great response by Becks who scored a beaut. Showed great determination to get the loose ball, even after running his arse off for 41 minutes in the freezing cold.

Happy with a point though, saying we could of won it isn't so far fetched however. Think Pearson should start Drinkwater and Fonz/Marshall instead of Dyer and Gally for Brighton.

First 10 mins we weren't bad but after scoring we lost focus. We weren't mobile enough, we weren't pressing enough and we weren't keeping possession.

Wellens lacked sharpness, Gallagher was just generalyl ineffective.

Second half we started much better but still not quite up to speed. Drinkwater and Delfouneso were welcome additions.

To be fair to Mowbray, he did his homework and stopped us playing, albeit in a twatty way.

Still fairly upbeat, mainly because of the sing-song, but also because of Beckford suddenly switching to genius mode.

People like you are just as bad. He's had a couple of good games, nothing to write home about. Give him some time before you judge him.

For the record I backed him earlier in the season and asked for patience.

Wish Gally would show some appreciation to the fans when he gets subbed, He was as W@nk as the ref today.

To be fair (as bad as he was), how would you have reacted to being cheered off given the circumstances?

This is his first season in the championship....

We're not going to make the playoffs. But anyone who saw our previous four home games knew that anyway.

Gallagher, Wellens and Dyer were back to their usual selves. They offered nothing and were dominated by the MIddlesbrough midfield.

Jutkiewicz should have been off before half-time for his continuous assaults on St Ledger. I can only conclude that Mowbray bought him to add some "physical presence" to the boro attack - because he certainly isn't a prolific goalscorer and I can't remember him even having a chance tonight.

Plus points tonight were the performances (and goals) from Nugent and Beckford, another decent performance from Danns and news of Norwich's hiding at MON's Sunderland. They ARE a beatable team, even at their place.

Good point I thought, happy with the fight to the death as is typical of a Pearson team.

Few quick points:

Drinkwater will save our season. Got the quality on the ball, wants it, is willing to take it with men on him and plays a positive, quick pass. Richie Wellens step aside. Dannzy, you can do Drinkwater's donkey work and let him do the tough stuff.

Gallgher needs to sort himself out. When the team's firing we can carry him purely for his moments of briliance and his set pieces. When he's playing as he is and is consistently failing to beat the first man with his set pieces he's a passenger.

Beckford: a little premature for people to be getting 'I told you so'. Much better from him tonight but he got his goal because he worked for it. That's all people have ever wanted, a bit of effort and commitment and he got his reward. Carry on in the same manner please.

Give Schmeichel the armband!

Front two looking hot !

We didn't play well , our passing was poor losing 1st and second balls but again thought team worked hard ....

It's deffo the way forward!!

Midfield changes will be made just look at the players removed ?!?!

Ref .enough said!

Atmosphere , best this season so far second half! Seen scarves waving all round ground looked good....

From what i saw via the internet was Boro pressed us more than we have been by the other team we have played recently which looks to have caused our midfield to not control the game as they have done. Wellens suffered the most due to the close attention of Boro. something he and the team will need to deal with going forward. Overall I thought we played well.
