Corky Posted 17 May 2012 Posted 17 May 2012 He has improved and developed considerably since his debut in 2003. What a bowler (and fielder too).
Captain... Posted 17 May 2012 Posted 17 May 2012 Not a bad days play, but it would have been nice to bowl them all out, but 9 wickets down and not a high total definitely advantage England. Lets hope the batsmen bring their home form and not their winter form.
marko Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 Don't want to tempt fate, but I reckon Strauss and Trott are booked in for a long stay here.
Guest MattP Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 Looks like way, desperate when Marlon is bowling. Hopefully Strauss can rack up a few runs here.

Pathetic isn't it? Sammy and Edwards are usually fairly decent, problem is they don't seem to have any sort of plan after the shine wears off in these conditions, throwing the ball to Samuels is pure desperation.
marko Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 Finally found Strauss' edge only for it to be a no-ball and the dolly of a catch dropped!!! It's village green stuff out there.
Guest MattP Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 Pissed myself at that It'a shame it's Lords, Headingley we would have people dressed as clowns singing "du dud duddle ud dud dur dur dud" by now. KP will take it to these bigtime now.

marko Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 100 for Strauss. Well batted and hopefully the first of many this summer.

marko Posted 19 May 2012 Posted 19 May 2012 Well, what a difference a day makes. The Windies can't stop taking wickets and actually look as if they know how to bowl today. Currently 323-7
Corky Posted 19 May 2012 Posted 19 May 2012 West Indies putting up a fight, which is good to see. I still think we'll win but at least it's an interesting game right now rather than a rout.
marko Posted 20 May 2012 Posted 20 May 2012 The Windies are putting up a real fight today. If they carry on like this it might be an interesting chase tomorrow.
ScouseFox Posted 20 May 2012 Posted 20 May 2012 Swann got Chanderpaul just before tea. Finally. I love test cricket and I like seeing batters dig in and stand their ground to try and hold on for as long as possible to give their team a fighting chance but bugger me Shiv, that was boring. There were times when it seemed he was properly taking the piss. 91 from 250 balls is some going.
Captain... Posted 20 May 2012 Posted 20 May 2012 It's been a much better test than I thought it would be, some stubborn batting and big partnerships along with patient probing bowling is what test cricket is all about. I also think we need a test before we face South Africa, turning the W.Indies over easily is not good preparation, but bowling at world class batsmen like Chanderpaul is good preparation, lets see if they can bring something with the ball. We also need the batsmen to perform under pressure, chasing 200 on a day 5 pitch is not going to be a walk in the park, but the W.Indies don't have a spinner so that will help us.
marko Posted 20 May 2012 Posted 20 May 2012 Target of 191. Strauss gone for 1. Surely they can't upset the apple cart, can they???
marko Posted 20 May 2012 Posted 20 May 2012 oh my goddddd we're gonna lose this aren't we? Nah. Haha as i'm typing Anderson has just gone. Could really get interesting!!!
ScouseFox Posted 20 May 2012 Posted 20 May 2012 Nah. Haha as i'm typing Anderson has just gone. Could really get interesting!!! Hahaha I wasn't being all that serious but needed 180 with 8 wickets left on the last day at Lord's and our captain and century maker already gone with the Windies suddenly looking like they've remembered what cricket is, I'm scared. Tomorrow will be exciting though.
marko Posted 20 May 2012 Posted 20 May 2012 Bloody hell Trott was lucky there! Tell me about it, that was a matter of centimetres. Tomorrow could be interesting - Windies have a new ball and it's meant to be warmer so the ball will do a bit more. It's set up for a good days cricket.
Captain... Posted 20 May 2012 Posted 20 May 2012 Has Anderson ever done his job as nightwatchman, he is terrible at it, especially with the ball still new. We should be able to chase this total, they don't have a spinner, so as soon as the shine goes off the ball then we will be able to score freely.
