Corky Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 Don't make me laugh Dominic Cork He was world-class. Better than David Boon anyway.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 He was world-class. Better than David Boon anyway. Not only did Boonie average more and was genuinely better in every way including his Mo. Check this out http://www.thefanatics.com/content.php?id=330
leicsmac Posted 28 March 2012 Posted 28 March 2012 Don't want to appear to be siding with an Aussie here...but Boonie does also get additional points for this: 52 cans and still able to sit up straight for a press conference? That's pretty damn hardcore.
Corky Posted 28 March 2012 Posted 28 March 2012 It's about time the DRS was the same all around the world. There is no hotspot used in this series, just looking for deflections and possible sounds, which is great until bat hits ground at the same time the ball passes it.
ScouseFox Posted 28 March 2012 Posted 28 March 2012 Made a massive effort getting the last wicket. Broad no ball, a dropped catch, cost about 50 runs. However, if this partnership can stay together through tomorrow morning we could sneak a win here. Be a big ask, mind.
Knightonian Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 I don't have to be at work untill 3pm tomorrow. So Hopefully I am gonna be up bright and early and see us chase down the record 340.... ;-) Which we haven't done siince 1928.... I'm optimistic....
ScouseFox Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 Had to go to school, which is shit, but we look like we could do this! Touch wood. Trott and Prior look solid.
James. Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 We could actually do this... Can't think of a better man to have at the crease in this sort of situation than a stubborn Trott.
Captain... Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 I'm at work following it on the beeb website, it is making me very nervous every time I check, we could do it, and Leicester could get promoted, but whether we do or not is down to the attitude and mmindset of the players more so than the ability, I keep on ticking off the milestones, we've passed 200 the next milestone is the chase is under a ton, which happens soon...
purpleronnie Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 big ask now. 5 down, at least they still have a chance.
Captain... Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 big ask now. 5 down, at least they still have a chance. Patel is supposed to be handy with the bat, and Broad and Swann can normally fire off a quick 20 and have the capability to score more, while Monty and Jimmy both got double figures in the first innings, I think the key is Trott, if he can stay in we will win it will give the others the confidence to play their shots while he just keeps the score ticking along. The chase is under 100 now, we can do this, we just need a mini partnership with Patel and Trott to steady any nerves.
Captain... Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 Patel gone and Trott on the dreaded Nelson, I have faith in Broad and Swann as long Trott stays in. I don't really understand why Patel is there, if it is as a batsman then surely he shuld be ahead of Prior, if it is as a bowler then why was he massively under-used compared to Swann and Monty. Bresnan would have been a better option in my opinion.

cambridgefox Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 Oh poo! Trott gone, this is going to the wire. i fear it isnt now, done the hard graft too.
Corky Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 Swann's shot was ridiculous, just see it through to tea and start again.
Captain... Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 It is disappointing that so many batsmen gave their wicket away, if we had clung on to some of the simple catches, and one person posted a decent score in the first innings we would have won. Oh well, roll on the next test, looks like Broad is suffering a knock, I would bring in Bresnan for Broad and either a proper bowler or a proper batter for Patel.
SMX11 Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 Cricket can change in one over, i was never confident we would win until we got within 30-40 and as predicted a couple of relatively quick wickets changed the game. Poor shots from Prior and Patel really swung the game in Sri Lanka's favour.
ScouseFox Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 Disappointing end, but it was always gonna be a tough ask. Trott played well.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 It's what i want to see 14 months out from the ashes
marko Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 Well if we'd have held our catches - i.e Jayawardene in the 60's, 90's and twice in the 100's - I dare say things would have been different. Disappointing but at least we put up a fight this time, unlike the UAE debacle.
Guest MattP Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 Pretty gutting that. Why we have made changes to the number 1 side in the world I have no idea. Patel isn't good enough and Monty just doesn't fit into the ethos of everything this side was built on. Finn and Morgan should be starting.
