dog_4 Posted 3 February 2012 Posted 3 February 2012 apparently worth just over a £100m! yet spent £39m buying the club! £20m on the playing squad! new club shop here and in bangkok! lavish friendlies against real madrid for £1m and sending the squad over to thailand to play the national team! high profile manager on a £1m a year with massive bonuses with promotion! and the same contract for Nigel! apparently joining an academy league which costs £2.3m to enter next season! own tv channel set up in Thailand! where is all this money coming from?
Libertine Dream Posted 3 February 2012 Posted 3 February 2012 Plus the training ground, new team coach, full re branding of the stadium with improvements made. We keep going through this, Vichai isn't the owner, King Power and possibly others are. Now we don't know where all the money comes from but if Vichai is worth 130 mil and owns 10% of KP it means KP alone is worth 1billion without other source of investment. KingPower's sales 2 years ago(I think) were 400 million. Then there is the fact there pally with the King of Thailand and a leading man in government. But to actually answer your question, I doubt anybody knows where the money is coming from and as things stand I'm not too concerned.
m00nie Posted 3 February 2012 Posted 3 February 2012 100 mil is PERSONAL wealth not including his KP business apparently...
B16Stu Posted 3 February 2012 Posted 3 February 2012 I think they are worth a lot more than what we think! But really! Who cares! If they wanna invest then so be it! #premier league Will be upon us very soon! Keep the faith, and LTID. B-)
dog_4 Posted 3 February 2012 Author Posted 3 February 2012 not if every other team get taken over! need to get up now! southampton, reading, cardiff and west ham are all minted! we need to take advantage of our wealth yesterday!
Tielemans63 Posted 3 February 2012 Posted 3 February 2012 I Top. And our owners. Me too. Best owners we've had since I've been a supporter.
Callabinho Posted 3 February 2012 Posted 3 February 2012 Their worth has little to do with what they invest into the football club, Im sure the investment comes from a number of people anyway, plus owning King Power, would rake in absolute millions daily. They are worth probably worth much more than £100 million. In fact they will be.
21st Century Fox Posted 3 February 2012 Posted 3 February 2012 We're owned by King Power not the Raksriaksorns personally, which is why they installed Susan Whelan from King Power as Chief Executive. I think we're thought of as a sort of marketing arm for King Power. I think they've done a fair job so far, there was always going to be some sort of learning curve as they're new to the business but they seem to be able to apply their business savvy. You can only really fault them for the Sven appointment/departure but they have the balls and determination to go back and get NP in. Time will tell I guess. I'm not so much worried about their patience, the only thing that ever worries me about them is how unstable the link between politics and business can be in Thailand.
Jace Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 We have had this debate many times over the last year on here and no one can be very certain on the wealth of our owners as their estimated personal wealth is around the £140 million mark but the business wealth in shares and assets in King Power is estimated to be in the billions. There was a Hull fan on here not long ago getting well shirty with us when we couldn't answer his question on how wealthy we are but noone genuinely knows some fans are worried by this the others just think they are fooking legends!
stourbridgefox Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 The Raksriaksorn's were originally given their monopoly on duty free by then Thai Prime Minister, Thaksin Shiniwatra. Shiniwatra was from the north-east of Thailand which sees itself as different from the rest of Thailand. It is much poorer and became part of the Siamese empire quite late I believe. The point I am making is that the Raksriaksorn's managed to survive the military coup which took power from Shiniwatra and returned it to the south of the country and still kept their privileged position within Thai business and politics. So the Raksriaksorn's seem pretty fireproof in regards to regime change. Maybe a bigger worry is whether they are waterproof in regards to climate change and flooding.
bluesbrothers Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Personally, money being a different matter altogether, I like how down to earth Top is. Can't say I know that much about his dad, but he always has time to chat with the fans when I've seen him around the club. Our stadium and training ground have both benefitted from the Thai money. I personally love the new look inside the ground now, the old walkers stadium banner with the photos on it was starting to look rather tatty and the new one is understated but looks classy. Oh, and i feel much more confident that we could spend to stay in the Prem if we get there under the Raksriaksorns.
RyanB89 Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 the club is owned by afi (a consortium of business men including the r aksriaksorns)
Webbo Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 People seem to be assuming that the owners have bought everything for cash. All or most of the money spent will probably have been borrowed with the club servicing the debt.
Tommo Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 These estimates only ever take into consideration assets (I.e property etc) and estimate cash from this. No one knows what they've got in the bank as no self respecting business man is going to divulge every penny he has, just to be scored against the rest of the wealthy people in the world.

Exactly This is how football works, it's all borrowed & the club ultimately 'owes' the money to the parent company If we get in the Prem within a few years of them taking over it will be a gamble that has paid off, if we don't... then no one knows what will happen
Guest ttfn Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 People seem to be assuming that the owners have bought everything for cash. All or most of the money spent will probably have been borrowed with the club servicing the debt. The club's accounts have to be filed by the end of this month as I believe they have a May year-end. It will be interesting to see what the nature of the commitment of the owners is, and to see exactly how much cash they did end up spending/wasting on last season.
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 If I were the owner of this football club, I would be proud of what we'd achieved off the pitch... The ground, shop, facilities, Academy all super dooper. If I was the owner AND a City/ Football fan too, with the money I'd seen spent/wasted I'd be crying in mi Stella....
Bettsj2 Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 They have basically acted exactly how anybody would want owners to act. Invested money in all areas of the club making it clear the plans are long term. Yes they sacked Sven at an odd time, but if he'd have stayed and things didnt improve, they'd have been questioned on why they didnt act earlier. 'they've only kept im on foh publiciteh' etc. Overall, they will be hugely disappointed that we're not doing better but they have shown no signs of letting up.
Karljohn Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Should have invested in some corrupt referee's.
