norwich fa cup ticket allocation !

Swindon fans back in sympathy with your allocation issue. Given the fact that we brought nearly 4000 to you we would have struggled to satisfy the demand from our away fans.

We have had a similar problem with Oxford.... we gave them 3000 when they came to us... they offer us just 1275 for a derby 30 miles down the road..for months they talked about putting up another temporary stand....(they only got three sides) then set about selling the home areas whilst talk of extra for us went ahead... then they decided on cost they couldn't put one up..so left us stuffed with that paltry sum when demand would have been 4 times no doubt.

So many were desperate to get tickets they camped out last Friday in temperatures down to minus 8C and hundreds were in the queue at 7.00 am when temperatures were no higher.. and that just season ticket holders (we have about 5000) so tis thing goes , the trouble is health and safety rule the roost and no club official can risk taking the chance of ignoring them in case things go wrong and they are held personally liable ..we see it too often now..usedas an excuse to "stop" rather than "protect" in general life itself.

Any way as you may have noticed we made our Wembley goal last night...not the most fluent of performances, but a bit of nervy second half "semi-final" ...miles better than Barnet who were pretty poor.

Hope you munch those Canaries, take some of the pain away from our trip to you if we lose to the "finalists". Good luck !

Appreciate the Norwich fans coming on here and giving their two pence politely.

Not much to say about this other than it is a joke they are being allowed to do this and a complete cop out hiding behind H&S.

Norwich have absolutely no justifiable reason for shafting us in favour of their own fans against the rules, and it only serves to make it easier for clubs to fook over away fans in the future.

I'm another Norwich fan and Season Ticket holder who has been watching this situation grow over the last few days and like others I'm very surprised that we've got away with offering only 2,375 tickets to Leicester, but I can see why. Incidentally, I don't know how we get away with only offering 2,375 tickets to all away Premier League teams when it equates to only 8.8% of our total capacity, but that's for another day!

Historically, blocks F, G, H and J were reserved for away fans with often J and sometimes H and G going on sale to home supporters once the away allocation was known. For at least the last two seasons, and maybe longer I'm not too sure, seats in block J have been available as Season Tickets effectively reducing the maximum away allocation from circa 3,500 to the current 2,375.

There is a clear note in our Season Ticket T&Cs that those in certain parts of the ground (namely block J) may be required to move to accommodate larger away allocations for Cup/Play-off fixtures, but with our current capacity, the number of season ticket holders and the increase in corporate seats etc. now we're back in the Premier League, I just don't think there is the available space in the ground to move around 1,000 supporters to and we're using the 'Norwich City’s Safety Advisory Group' as an excuse.

There were/are plans to build a temporary stand in front of the hotel, but that seems to be on hold at the moment and it's going to be at least 2 consecutive Premier League seasons before we look the redevelop the small City Stand taking our capacity up to around 35,000. Until then I really don't think there is too much we can do other than hide behind excuses.

Appreciate your insights and delighted for you that your season has been better than anyone outside of Norwich would have imagined.

As sports fans in Leicester, we understand where you are at. We just don't agree with it. As an example, our rugby team - The Tigers - has historically had this problem each year it has been successful in getting a home quater-final in the Heineken Cup. Until recent ground developments meant it can now accomodate 24,000, Heineken rules meant that they had to give away more seats for away fans than existed due to the enormous number of season ticket holders. And they did. The Chairman gave up his, too, and joined those displaced season-ticket holders in a glorified beer tent for one enormous cup tie I recall ... because the club has integrity and equal respect for other clubs' supporters. Enough said.

Just thought I would drop in and give my thoughts.

I really cant believe Norwich have done this and been allowed to by the f.a.

Isn't this what the f.a. cup is all about ? the day out factor, a chance to get to qtrs, with a big away following, isn't that the spirit of the cup?

I'm old enough to remember the 6-7000 sutton utd took to carrow road.

If the roles were reversed Norwich fans would be livid too,

As far as i'm concerned the security issue is just a smoke screen how much does it cost to put a couple of shutters up ?

My guess is they are more concerned that 4,000 away supporters would encroach the corporate area that we have in the middle rear of that stand.

To be honest i'm a little embarrassed of my club today

the F.A. have handled it even worse, like anyone is surprised they've shafted us

The more I think of it, the more I agree with this.

I got a call-back today from the fanzone bloke to explain this. He reckoned the FA told LCFC that they didn't have the power to over-rule the advice of the Norwich Safety Advisory Group (SAG)! Let's assume that isn't PR bullshit from our club (I know!)... That would render the FA's 15% ticket policy utterly meaningless as any club could just give their SAG a nod and a wink, quote "crowd safety" and allocate as few away tickets as they wanted!

Now, the forces of law and order - namely, the police - obviously need such powers, for if there is a serious risk of danger/violence. Likewise, serious account needs to be taken of the views of the SAG, which normally includes representatives of the various emergency services. But it is still an ADVISORY GROUP! Surely, the club, never mind the FA have the right to over-rule the SAG (in turn being over-ruled by the police/courts, if need be)? Norwich City have obvious selfish reasons for not over-ruling the SAG (indeed, for conniving with it!), but why has the FA allowed them to effectively tear up its 15% ruling?

What now is to stop Norwich being given a 0% away allocation if there's a replay - or by another club in the quarters if they win?! All on the grounds of (unspecified) "crowd safety", of course!

The fanzone bloke reckoned LCFC hadn't even been told what the "crowd safety" issue was, though the implicit insinuation was that it was a fear of trouble among fans.

Norwich should be obliged to state what these "crowd safety" issue was - and the FA should be obliged to confirm whether or not it has the power to over-rule a SAG, and if so, why it agreed that there was such a "crowd safety" issue! Publish the SAG minutes!

Anyone have any inside info on how tickets have been selling so far - and what the chances are of tickets still being available on Friday? (Serious info - please spare us the claims that you bought the 2nd last ticket at 9.01am today etc.)

Hi all,

Don’t shoot me just yet, but yes I’m a Norwich season ticket holder!

If we were playing you at Leicester & the same situation of ticket allocation had happened, I’d be going ape sh** at this decision, so I fully appreciate your anger & frustration.

The ironic thing is that both Leicester & Norwich fans are some of the best behaved supporters in English football, :englandsmile4wf: so not allow a full allocation is shameful.

If there are “safety” concerns, then the relevant authorities (including the club) should have found a way to resolve them; allowed the full 15% allocation & got on with it!! What concerns are there regarding crowd safety anyway... do they seriously think there is going to be mass trouble & a riot? Surely it can't be historical. After all, the last riot we had in Norwich was the Kett's Rebellion of 1549 !!!!!!

We pride ourselves on Norwich being a family club… So it’s about time they reversed this stupid, erroneous decision & allow 4,000 Leicester fans to come to Norwich to enjoy the City, enjoy the atmosphere & enjoy the game!

One of the first away games I went to was at Leicester.... Norwich lost by the way!!

Football should be a family game… what next, no away fans at all! :banghead:

All the best

Matt

if that's the case Norwich should have been instructed by the FA to net off the vacant area from our reduced allocation to 3,600 so an unfair bias in supporters numbers is not created

Spoke to a guy from LCFC fanzone earlier today when I finished work. He confirmed that the people who are responsible for this are indeed the safety advisory group (as we now know). Apparently every club actually has a safety advisory group (I didn't know that). They actually have the power to overrule the FA if they deem it necessary (I doubt the FA bothered putting up much of a fight they were too busy f**king other things up instead). One thing that surprised me is that if a Safety Advisory Group feels it is necessary, they can stop football matches from going ahead in the first place! Word is that the Norwich Safety advisory group will review their policy after this game. However in this instance, it is too late for us.

To be honest, this chap sounded just as surprised as we are about this. I asked whether our club contested this at all. He suggested that our silence on the matter spoke volumes. LCFC certainly didn't agree with it. Unfortunately though, we tried to do what we could, we were unable to get anywhere.

On another note, if there is a replay fixture, it seems as though we will give Norwich the full 15% allocation if they request. Personally, I'm not surprised by that in the least. He suggested that while he's not saying anything about anyone else's football club, "we're going to run our football club properly". Basically, not sinking to their level and playing by the rules like we should do! I'm happy that the club is going to be professional enough to do this, though there certainly is a part of me that that wants us to give them just 1000 tickets as a real F**k You.

But there you have it, screwed over in the name of 'Health and Safety'. I used to think quite highly of Norwich City but this is clearly just them being c*nts so that they can have more home fans in, it's disgraceful. Unless they really are crazy enough to believe that our fans are 'high risk'. I may be lucky enough to have a ticket for this match and will be completely behind a peaceful protest of some sort. We also need to get some decent chants for this too.

By the way, there are approximately 700 tickets up for grabs tomorrow so get in there quick if you want to go!!

on the grounds of safety the Norwich fans should be banned from the KP if there is a replay, after all they have a history of actually causing trouble in our city, unlike us in theirs

Although I am all up for us not stooping to their level and offering them their full allocation on the chance of it going to a replay... I think we should and would be 'just' in banning Norwich Fans from the KP due to the fact we honestly could say it's because they are 'High Risk' and can back it up with past history
