Howard to be offered a new contract?

we dont know what goes on behind the scenes, if he is "good to be arround" and does help with morale and getting the squad motivated etc, I say its a good move IF this is the case

Exactly, the bloke barely gets a kick at the minute and we've had a mini striker crisis for most of the season. Do people think at a year older he'll suddenly start getting more game time.

If he is there as an example and a leader, there is no harm in it at all. Pearson is the man around the training ground, not anyone on here. You don't know what kind of influence he has, Powell lingered around for a while still signed on as a player but not playing for the same kind of reason.

So cos one manager fvcks up then it's ok in your eyes for another one to do the same.

Be a little different if it was your money they were talking about wasting.

You are obviously around the training ground each day to know that it's a waste keeping him around. Maybe you could share your inside knowledge of what he does and doesn't add to the team spirit, and what kind of example he isn't to others.

I appreciate everything big Stevie has done for this club in his time here, especially that bullet header in injury time against Leeds. That's one of my fave memories/moments of the last few years, but I don't think he really cuts it any more. If he has a coaching role within the club like someone suggested then great, but as a player for us, then I think a resounding no.

Coaching what exactly how to win a header lol , he cannot do that now I would just plainly get rid, their is no need for him to be at this club no sentiment is needed wake up and smell the coffee we are not going anywhere with Howard, Wellens, Gallagher etc.

I don't think we are wasting money with Howard he is on a low wage compared to most of our squad and he has possibly the best ariel ability at the club could be very useful someone we need to help players like Schlupp, King and Beckford develop their game

For me it about stability squad wise, last thing we need is a masses exodus and influx of players. A quiet evolution over the summer rather than the bloody revolution is what we need.

Like any squad it needs balance and senior pros are part of that. They know the club, have been around the place and are happy to play their part when required and help younger squad members.

Nigel has done a lot of clearing out of deadwood already, Oakley, Berner, Abe, Johnson and Fernandez. I expect Tunchev, Vassell to follow.

That a decent amount already, if he think Howard can play a part team spirit wise and help out in an injury crisis why not, plus he’s not going to cost the earth! Would he been the worse 5th choice striker after Nugent, Beckford, Schlupp and Waghorn in the Championship?

You do post some utter guff sometimes. Are you at the training ground every day to see what he does or doesn't do?

wake up and smell the coffee we are not going anywhere with Howard, Wellens, Gallagher etc.

And yet none of them played except for Howard for a couple of minutes against florest and we still failed to win.

"moan about the money the thais are spending"

"oh yeah give him another year he's been a loyal servant" even though he'll get about 20 minutes all season

mad

fooking hell, and people kicked off when birch got kept on at 30k a year!

Now he was and is a waste of space.

I would like to know if he uses his phone whilst he's driving.

Get rid, I cringe when we bring him on now

I find it cringeworthy that you cringe when we bring on a substitute.

So we pay him 20k a week to have round the club cos he's a nice guy.

Sorry he ain't upto it so free the wage up n pay a fit young talented guy that will make a real difference.

N thats no disrespect to Steve he's been a great servent but sentiment has no place in football when your talking about wages.

Welly! Do you honestly think he'd be paid 20k per week at his age and for one more year?

I'd predict prob between 5-10k tops

But I'd let him go now for sure..

Whatever we pay him Col it was just a figure.

Even 5k a week is wasted money for him to come on 1 in 6 for 10 mins.

NP needs help if this is true.

I thought Sven was mad but FFS nige can't do it can he lol

One that you pulled out of your arse immediately before this:

lol more like £3.5k per week

So where did you get your info from Jace :source: Plse spill the beans.

 <_<

Do you even reflect on what you're writing before you post or do you just like disagreeing with ppl?

My mate is very very good mates with Howard. SH told him a few days ago that he will continue on a 1 yr contract as a COACH not as a player.

His duties will be coaching forwards the following:

1. How to foul defensive opoposition.

2. How to come on as sub and pick up a yellow card in the first 5 minutes

3. How to whinge and moan constantly at the ref

4. How to pick up a red

5. How to try and convince your supporters you are great by scoring a header once in a blue moon.

6. How to make out that you are hard working by huffing and puffing

7. How to cover an area on the pitch of no more 8m x 8m.

8. How to whinge and moan at your own players

9. How to look like a poor mans Ian Marshall

10. How to get your contract renewed A.K.A making sure you have some serious shite on the manager.

:whistle:lol

I'll reserve judgment until the end of this season. It's clear that he hasn't the stamina to start a match but he is often useful in the final part of the match as an extra defender if we are defending a lead - he remains a good header of the ball defensively.

His physical play at Reading helped the other attackers although at that time we were chasing the match.

he'll be a great mentor for our young strikers...much like how Dickov was a couple of years ago! Like he's gonna be on much anyways! And he'll probably be doing his coaching badges?
