dayday Posted 14 April 2012 Posted 14 April 2012 Out of a possible 42points we have managed to muster a meagre 9points against these teams. Why do we struggle against these so lesser teams?
Cropwellfox Posted 14 April 2012 Posted 14 April 2012 Because we are not often up for the way you have to play against the teams who either come to spoil, park the bus or fight and scrap. This is what needs sorting with our summer acquisitions - different types of player that we have right now, particularly in the midfield. Just hope Pearson sees it.
ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 14 April 2012 Posted 14 April 2012 we play a counter-attacking way of football, and we cant handle it when clubs play all out defence (ie the lower clubs)
old koppite Posted 14 April 2012 Posted 14 April 2012 Because some players are too cocky thinking they will win the game without giving it enough effort/thought, and at times maybe because the management team haven't got the skill/insight to change the tactics and/or the team during the game.

Iwan is a Welshman Posted 14 April 2012 Posted 14 April 2012 Because we get bogged down by teams who din'tet us play. The answer isn't signing any more new players though.
LCFC_Bradders Posted 14 April 2012 Posted 14 April 2012 When we play bigger teams/ teams higher in the league, they come attack us and try to get all three points. The game becomes open, we score loads. When we play crap teams, we run out of ideas going forward, Forest at home was a good example
morris1234 Posted 14 April 2012 Posted 14 April 2012 Because when we play these teams we tend to , not believe, but that word again 'expect' to win these games 5-0 whereas when we turn up at these big sides there is pressure yes, but a more professional pressure. We tend to focus more on the basics and build from there against the bigger sides, whereas those lower down the table we tend to try and run before we can walk in terms of style of play and basically trying to score! In my view it's these games we try and walk the ball in.
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 14 April 2012 Posted 14 April 2012 Because lower teams are more up for the game than we are
Matt Posted 14 April 2012 Posted 14 April 2012 Never disrespect the opposition no matter how good or poor, no matter how big or small, I think we have many players and fans alike who do.
stourbridgefox Posted 14 April 2012 Posted 14 April 2012 This problem started with Sven. Teams that park the bus are hard to play against but Pearson's previous sides did better than we have recently. For me, this is a problem Pearson can sort out. + we need Euan Roberts up front

Bayfox Posted 14 April 2012 Posted 14 April 2012 lack of creativity. we need a mark davies type midfielder, a player who can go past a player and play an defence splitting pass. gazza would do! or maybe we could tempt joe cole back from france.
StanSP Posted 14 April 2012 Posted 14 April 2012 Why disregard Coventry? Do our wins over them not count for the season?
Libertine Dream Posted 14 April 2012 Posted 14 April 2012 Its a case of being an average team in a league which hasnt been that good either. Ive not been overly impressed with many teams this year unlike most years and the league is closer ability wise than the table suggests. Just push this season aside now, gather some positivity and look forward to next year. Support the team and management whether tou believe they are capable or not.
Matt Posted 14 April 2012 Posted 14 April 2012 Why disregard Coventry? Do our wins over them not count for the season? Just makes the stats look more dramatic
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 14 April 2012 Posted 14 April 2012 We play the shit teams and get dragged down to there level, try and play that way and fail. Why we do it i don't know. But unless we change it for next season or change the players we will suffer from it again.
Dan Posted 15 April 2012 Posted 15 April 2012 Because we're physically weak and we're not scrappers. Yet despite this, we seem to perform against the top sides, who should gobble those sides up for fun.
foxaholic Posted 15 April 2012 Posted 15 April 2012 No difficulty with motivation with local derbies and form tends to go out of the window
Grey Fox Posted 15 April 2012 Posted 15 April 2012 I think it's fair to say that the reason we are not going up this year, or even in the play offs, is because of our form against the bottom 8 in the league. There was a total of 16 games against those 8 teams, so 48 points up for grabs, and we took a total of 15! That is 33 points dropped against those sides! Our points against each were as follows: Millwall - 0 points Peterborough - 1 point Forest - 2 points Barnsley - 1 point Bristol - 0 points Cov - 6 points Portsmouth - 2 points Doncaster - 3 points Just writing those I have noticed that we didn't do so bad against the bottom 3. 11 out of 18 is close to 2 points per game, which is not normally considered too bad. However we took 4 out of 30 against the other 5 teams. 4 points from 10 games!!! Look no further, that is the reason we are not at least in the play off places. Please Nigel, sort this out!
Grey Fox Posted 15 April 2012 Posted 15 April 2012 Beacuse I'm very bored, I just added up our points againts the top 8 and middle 8. Top 8, with West Ham to play - 22 points (1.46 points per game) Middle 8 (or 7 because we are 1), with Burnley and Leeds to play - 25 points (2.08 points per game) Bottom 8 points per game was 0.94. To me it can only be one of two things, or a combination of both? 1. The/some players are not psychlogically prepared for these lesser games? 2. Those teams play us in a different and more effective way?
