bald reynard Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 I was stuck in Cumbria (again - and without Sky !) last night. Could those that went, post some City player ratings please (I did listen to R5L - but all they wanted to talk about, was West Hemmm !) ?
chris_lcfc_85 Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 I was at the game as ever.... Schemeichel - 7 (Couple of good saves, no chance with the goals) Peltier - 5 (Not his best, looked tired and on his holidays) Konch - 7 (Excellent first half, not so in the 2nd but never stopped running) Morgan - 7 (Fairly faultless for me, looks solid) Bamba - 6 (Did ok at CB, not so well in CM. Only looks good when he runs with it with pace and power!) Wellens - 6 (Did ok) King - 6 (Same as Wellens although got more involved than normal) Drinky - 7 (Thought he had a good game, very energetic and at least tried) Marshall - 6 (up and down. Looks good for next season though) Beckford - 7 (good workrate and scored with the 1 chance he had. Service to him was WOEFUL) Nugent - 5 (Average tonight for me, looked shattered like Peltier. Great season though) Dyer - 6 (Decent enough, at least tried to do something) Waggy - 5 (Looked rusty but needs time to get fit) SSL - 7 (Did well when he came on, looks comfortable on the ball)
Babylon Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 Thought Konchesky and Morgan were fantastic first half. Morgan made one tackle that was sublime, got him a standing ovation behind the goal. The rest seemed a much of a muchness.
Ric Flair Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 Thought Konchesky and Morgan were fantastic first half. Morgan made one tackle that was sublime, got him a standing ovation behind the goal. The rest seemed a much of a muchness. Konchesky was the pits 2nd half though, must have given the ball away over half a dozen times in dangerous positions. Poor going forward too. Lee Peltier, words fail me.
Babylon Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 Konchesky was the pits 2nd half though Weren't they all... not sure whether the change of CB's made any difference to him, but he definitely started to struggle as soon as Dyer came on. Before that we seemed to have two men covering down the flanks most of the time, after Wellens went off we seemed to get caught out with just one man back all the time.
Sampson Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 Schmeichel - Possibly at fault for the first goal, poor distribution, but still one of our better players - 5 Peltier - Very poor - 2 Morgan - Easily our best player - 7 Bamba - At least showed a bit of fight but gave the ball away far too much - 6 Konchesky -Gave the ball away time after time after time, either that or dwelling on the ball allowing Vaz Te to close him down - 3 Marshall - Had a mixed bag, but our few creative chances all came through him - 6 Drinkwater - Poor - 4 Wellens - Off to early to say - N/A King - One decent little run in the first half, anonymous apart from that - 5 Nugent - Gave the ball away all game, was clown shoes out there. - 3 Beckford - It's the old poachers debate again? Is a player who does absolutely nothing except have a goal put on a plate for him really contributing enough? I'm sorry, but not for me. Good in games where teams play incredibly high lines and he can run behind him, but against most teams he really isn't good enough to be starting. We really needed a striker who could close down and pressurise the West Ham defence last night. - 5 Subs: St. Ledger - Defence collapsed when he came on, the St. Ledger effect in full force as ever. - 4 Dyer - Added a little. - 6 Waghorn - Looked well off the pace - 4

Drinkwater was everywhere and he at least tried to create, covered lots of ground and was box to box all game. He could of done with someone like Danns next to him
Simo86 Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 Schmeichel 6 Peltier 4 Morgan 7.5 Bamba 5 Konchesky 6.5 Marshall 7 Drinkwater 5 Wellens 5 King 6 Nugent 5 Beckford 7 SSL 6 Waghorn 5 Dyer 6
FoxyMusic Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 Schmeichel - 6 - Not too bad, distribution was disapointing again but he looked okay. Peltier - 3 - Awful. Didn't help Marshall when doubled up, didn't defend well. His overlapping was the slowest I've ever seen from a full-back. Needs to improve next season. Bamba - 6 - His usual maverick-self. Didn't play too bad and we looked stronger in midfield with him in there but he kind of had a hand in their goal. Morgan - 6 - I thought he did a decent job on Carlton Cole but everytime he got the ball he gave a bit of a Matt Mills style switcheroo. Konchesky - 5 - Big fan of Konch but he looked tired and a bit out of ideas on the ball. King - 4 - Worked hard, covered a lot of ground and followed his runners but didn't offer anything. Him and DD are too weak as a pairing. Drinkwater - 7 - Felt sorry for him as he did try to create things and move the ball quickly for us but as I said below I think he looked weak against the likes of Nolan etc. Oh and he loses his neck when he heads the ball. Wellens - 5 - Didn't actually think he started too bad but subbed early on. Marshall - 5 - A threat. Good assist and he was probably our most direct player but a little naive at times with his composure when in possesion. Beckford - 6 - Good goal and started off fairly brightly but hardly kicked the ball in the second half. He gets stick but he gets no service. He does make runs but they go un-noticed. Nugent - 3 - Poor. Every single time he got the ball he gave it away. Glad to see him replaced. Only manages a 3 for trying to win the ball back after he gave it away. Dyer - 4 - looked lively when he came on but shock horror, he got found out. Didn't see him much 2nd half. St Ledger - 5 - Didn't look too bad in possesion but I didn't fancy him to win headers against Cole or out-pace Vaz Te. Waghorn - 4 - Didn't look fit. But great to see him back.
ithuriel Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 Smeichel-6, some good long range balls but there was a corner in the second half and i watched him to see exactly what he does, he was all over the place and it was a good job the ball hit bodies twice in the penalty area. ------------ Peltier---5 , gets caught to high up the pitch wher he does not seem to know exactly what to do sometimes ? Bamba--6, sometimes good, sometimes bad Morgan-7, did well though there was one point in the game where he could have conceded a penalty, otherwise fairly solid. Konchesky-5, oh deary me, shown up again for his lack of pace and constantly gave the ball away ----------- King-----6, did ok in the first half helping to contain West Hams midfield Wellens-6, usual stuff, we should not be relying on him next season as a first team player. Drinkwater-5, lot of huff n puff and some good moments but not good enough at present to hold a first team spot, needs to pick his passes much better. Marshal-7, worked hard, had a couple of attempts at goal, decent corners. ----------- Nugent-6, looked very average but worked hard Beckford-7, scored a goal, did some good running but i got the feeling he wanted to put himself in the shop window a little bit, maybe i'm being a bit harsh ---------- Dyer---6, worked hard, fashioned some chances first half, found out the second half Waghorn,5, ineffective unfortunately. St,Ledger-6, some nice play but sometimes still frightens me with the time he can take making a pass against players who play at pace.
carterfox90 Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 they were all pants & non deserved more than a 3 except morgan whos tackle on cole was pure class so him a 5 as for king im sorry i loved the guy but oh dear me he needs to go
MattyFromLE Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 they were all pants & non deserved more than a 3 except morgan whos tackle on cole was pure class so him a 5 as for king im sorry i loved the guy but oh dear me he needs to go You said all that in one breath? ...plus. We were playing West Ham, who have strength in depth. First half we stood up to them almost, their will to win, and our lack of enthusiasm as we had nothing to play for i would imagine had a big effect on the outcome of the match.
davelcfc100 Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 Ridiculous rating!! Drinkwater was everywhere and he at least tried to create, covered lots of ground and was box to box all game. He could of done with someone like Danns next to him this!
Leicester Lass Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 Schmeichel 6 Peltier 4 - looks like he's on his holidays already. Morgan 7 - great last ditch tackle. Did ok in the air against Cole. Bamba 6 - not bad at the back. He just isn't a good enough footballer to play in midfield. Konchesky 4 - Ok first half, absolutely woeful after the break. Marshall 6 - Fantastic cross for the goal. Still think he looks more effective in the middle than out wide. Wellens 5 - Didn't really have time to get into the game. King 5 - Anonymous, unsurprisingly. Drinkwater 7 - The best of the midfield bunch. One of his better games for us. Nugent 4 - Very poor on the ball & bad decision making. Looks tired. Beckford 6 - Great off the ball work rate. Good header for the goal, made up for the header he missed just before that. Let down badly by his team mates and their lack of creativity. Dyer 5 - Struggled to get into the game really. Played with his back to goal too often second half. St Ledger 5 - Thought we looked weaker at the back with him in there. They could've had more joy had anyone been within 30 yards of Carlton Cole after they'd taken the lead. Waghorn 5 - Did nothing of note. Not ready for a return.
Guest MattP Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 Schmeichel 5 - thought he could have done better for first goal, rooted to his line Peltier 3 - awful, his run of form since xmas is a great cause for concern Morgan 7 - had Cole in his pocket Bamba 4 - if I was an opposition fan I'd want him playing against me every week, guaranteed to create chances off his mistakes Konchesky 4 - dreadful Marshall 6 - liking him, great prospect Wellens N/A - missed him when he went off King 5 - should have brought him on Drinkwater 7 - The best of the midfield bunch Nugent 4 - looking very average at the minute, shame Beckford 6 - Certainly looks more up for it on a televised game
MrSpaM Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 Ridiculous rating!! Drinkwater was everywhere and he at least tried to create, covered lots of ground and was box to box all game. He could of done with someone like Danns next to him I have to agree with the OP to be honest, he really dissapointed me last night. Yes he ran around a lot and got stuck in, but I lost count of the amount of times he lost the ball in dangerous positions
chris_lcfc_85 Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 I have to agree with the OP to be honest, he really dissapointed me last night. Yes he ran around a lot and got stuck in, but I lost count of the amount of times he lost the ball in dangerous positions Maybe because half the time he was trying on his own... Didnt help losing King and Wellens plus West Ham had 3 centre mids in Nolan, O'Neil and Noble so was never going to be easy against 3 of the best centre mids in the league!
kingfox Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 Schmeichel 6 - Didn't do much did he again to be fair Peltier 4 - Was always going to be difficult for him, defending poor, got forward well at times though Morgan 7 - Solid and assured, has been our most calm player against Burnley and West Ham Bamba 5 - Does some amazing things, then he passes the ball... Konchesky 4 - I thought he was pretty woeful, didn't look comfortable in possesion at all Marshall 6 - Excellent cross, but agree with others don't play him out wide Wellens 6 - Mixed bag in my opinion until he went off Drinkwater 5 - Some good bursts, but so overrated King 5 - Typical King this season and that was poor Beckford 6 - A six for the goal, then became a bit isolated Nugent 5 - He will always work hard, but hasn't been himself in the last couple of games St Ledger 6 - We looked more open at the back, but if it wasn't for him we would of lost 4-1 Dyer 4 - Can run but his end product just lacked Waghorn 3 - Laughable
okie fox Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 Schmeichel -6- Saved 1-on-1 at end Peltier -5- Not as bad as some make out Morgan -8- Our best player on the night, one super tackle Bamba -5- Loses point for two giveaways in dangerous areas, one cost us a goal Koncheskey -5- Little impact Marshall -6- Super assist, but erratic (like when he centered the ball at our end) Drinkwater -6- Involved, but gave the ball away quite a bit. Not ready to step into Wellens' role yet Wellens -7- Did some good things before he had to go off. King -5- Worked hard but made little impression Nugent -4- Completely off form Beckford -6- Got open for goal, worked hard but little support SUBS: Dyer -6- Dangerous when he first came on StLedger -6- Not fair to blame him Waghorn -5- Little impression. No better than Schlupp.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 Peltier, Drinkwater, and Waghorn were shocking!
Durnerz Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 Schmeichel 6 - Our best attacking threat at times Peltier 4 - Struggled and never got close to his man Morgan 7 - Strong and reliable but distribution iffy at times. Bamba 3 - Disaster waiting to happen, and it did happen. Koncheskey 5 - Slightly better than Peltier but couldn't deal with Collison. Marshall 6 - Exciting on the ball and good assist but in and out of the game. Drinkwater 6- Some good passes and ball retention but got caught a few times. Wellens 5 - Not much impact King 6 - Actually looked to run at west ham defenders and make things happen but match cut short Nugent 4 - Nothing really went right for him. Beckford 6 - Good finish, looked to move and create space but poor service SUBS: Dyer 6 - Looked the most likely source of a goal StLedger 6 - Did nothing wrong Waghorn 4 - Poor service up to him and a wild swing about sums up his night.
chris_lcfc_85 Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 Peltier, Drinkwater, and Waghorn were shocking! HA HA
Dan Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 Schmeichel - 6. Can't really blame him for either goal. Got a good hand to the second but that was one of the most vicious strikes I've seen. Peltier - 4. Not good enough for a promotion chasing side I'm afraid. Too weak defensively and even gone downhill attacking-wise. Such a shame as I thought he had a lot of promise. Morgan - 6. Hoofed it all game but I blame the lack of options more than I do him. Defensively not too bad, think anything below a 6 is harsh. Bamba - 5. Not one of his better days. Passing as erratic as ever when moved into midfield, defensively seen better. Konchesky - 4. Really has gone off the boil. Wellens - N/A King - 5. Tried to make things happen, but didn't. Drinkwater - 6. Tried hard but I do think he's gone off the boil a bit lately, seemed our most involved midfielder, did have a tendency to pass backwards. Marshall - 6. Tried hard but again to no real avail. Fantastic assist though. Nugent - 3. Waste of space last night sadly. Beckford - 7. Took his goal well, poacher's goal, one of his better games, nice touch with his celebration too. Subs; Dyer - 5. When involved he was very good to be fair, it's just a shame that in about 70 minutes of being on, he was involved for about 2 of them at most. Simply not good enough, goes missing more than anyone. St Ledger - 6. Thought he had a pretty good game in fairness. Waghorn - 2. Totally useless, even worse than Nugent on the night. Not a lot of time to impose himself but he's got to do better than that if he wants to be near the squad.
C.J Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 Drinkwater was everywhere, not sure if you lot were watching the same game.
Fox92 Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 Schmeichel 6 Peltier 4 - Struggled. Morgan 7 - Strong, reliable and solid. Bamba 4 - Gave the ball away a couple of times. Looked better in midfield. Koncheskey 4 - Poor. Drinkwater 7 Wellens 6 - Decent before injury. King 5 - Still too lightweight for me. Marshall 6 Nugent 4 - Not much impact. Beckford 6 - Good finish, should have scored earlier. Tracked back well but still something missing for me.
